This was literally two hours ago.
A few specs:
496cid 10:1 forged rotating assembly, roller valve train, Brodix Race Rite oval ports, RPM Air Gap Intake, Edelbrock Thunder Series 800cfm carb; 2800 stall on a TH400, 3.31 12-bolt

I'm going to 1/8th mile drags Saturday (my first ever run), I'll post up those numbers this weekend.

That's not my mohawk.
Resized Image

Pulls 2, 6, and 7 (HP & TQ vs MPH).
Pull 2 was before tuning.
Pull 6 was after tuning running though 3" exhaust and 40-series Flowmasters
Pull 7 was after tuning and cut-outs opened right after the header collectors
Resized Image

Pull 5 (HP & TQ vs RPM).
Resized Image

Run 7 was my final pull, we forgot to graph this pull versus RPM.
The graph showing vs rpm was pull 5.

Have fun at the strip. Just because I like to guess I am thinking a 7.9 in the 1/8th mile. First time out is a learning experience.

It should be a blast!

And I let him turn screws and shit, too.

Factoring in 20% drivetrain loss, I come up with 425/0.8=531chp.
Either way, I was a bit disappointed. I'd have made better numbers with the Holley 850 or even a Demon and a Victor Jr intake. But at least I know how to work on the Eddy carb. I'm too busy to take up carburetor tuning these days. Anyway, I made myself feel better by laying some rubber down Imperial Highway on the way back to the office. After all, I don't drive the Dyno printouts to work everyday.

Oh, did I mention there's gonna be a Beatles tribute band?

looks like it should be a nice driver

square port heads would wake it up

but it could kill your mid range

We trailered the Chevelle ~40 miles out to Barona Drags this morning for their Salute to the Military Day 1/8th Mile Drags.
But we got turned away.
I talked to the guy who runs the track a couple times this week. He said not enough participants signed up for the scheduled brackets so the track would be open for test-and-tune. So come on out and run what I brung.
Well, the place ended up selling out and we got their too late.
What and anticlimactic end to my week.
Well, the preparations have been made - I'll get this car on the track soon!
Stay tuned.

The track is available for rentals, but I'll just try to get out earlier next time.

Since the track operator originally told me there weren't a lot of participants pre-registered, I pretty much lollygagged getting out there.
