I dont know much about performance engines,so I decided to overhaul my engine an add a little more HP while I got it tore down. I got a local performance shop to set me up with this combination,, AFR 195cc heads (afr 1031s)upgraded with afr 8019 1.270" hyd roller springs, comp cams xfi224/230-112+4lsa,1.6 ultra pro mag rocker arms, hardened push rods, meziere electric water pump, stainless works long tube headers/no cats,TPIS 58mm throtle body and the edlebrock lt4 intake. To me this is all greek,so maybe some of you guys can make a guess on what kind of horse power at crank an RW. gonna go to a 355 bottom end with the eagle sir beam rods an good set of pistons.also ordered heads with 55cc combustion chambers. Thanks

Be sure they use the Meziere HD or high flow pump. I think it is 55gpm vs 36gpm for the standard pump. With the higher horse engine and in your climate you will need it.

With a good tune I would expect to see about 350-360RWHP SAE corrected on a Dynojet. It will be less on a Mustang or Land and Sea Dyno. Peak HP is going to be around 6000RPM. Your looking at an honest 450HP engine at the crankshaft.

In a 355 your going to need a converter (about 2800 stall) and more rear gear, like a 3.45 would also really help it out.

If you take a look at the pic in my avatar and my signature... That's my 92 LT1 6spd.

Without a doubt - I know what you mean (as do a number of others here).

No worries - the stuff your buying is good. You'll have a very good running car once it's done.

I agree, the Mez HD will keep the coolant temps decent even during summer heat loads..

(Louisiana/Southern Mississippi summers may be hot but at least its a wet heat)

You should for sure go up to AT LEAST a 2000 stall converter, preferably a 2400 to 2800 stall. It will help make up alot for still having the 3.07 gears. You will be pushing a good deal of power out, and the converter will let you in the powerband much quicker and much longer. A higher stall will increase the power to the ground, so to speak, since it will keep you in your powerband.

The engine combo you are putting together will be a good one.

You know,This is probally the 3rd v8 Ive ever owned an right now with about 180,000 miles it still seems to be very fast to me, I dont know what to expect with the extra horse power. Most of the others already have modified engines. Is it gonna be a lot of difference from what I have now? I hope it will set me back in the seat. this is my first modified engine. Darren

Youll notice the difference..

You have 180k on the bottom end now if I read that correctly?
Might wanna hold off on modding that for now and piece together a fresh one. Start pushing the bottom end and it will come apart, once you do heads and cam you WILL be in the throttle even if you think you wont. lol
