Here are the part numbers, has anyone done it recently to verify numbers are good or have been superceded?
U-JOINTS
GM:
Half shaft: 89049301
Spicer:
Half shaft/non-greasable: 5-799X/1350 series
Prefer Spicer, but GM is still pretty darn good.
Rock Auto has a few AC Delco available.
45U0400

now... IIRC... Spicer and Dana are one in the same, meaning that Dana, the provider of rear diffs, also provided the ujoints.

I don't know if Delco parts are still Spicer sourced.

Well Rock Auto thoroughly confused me as they have different part numbers,
But I think the AC Delco, which they have the GM number(89049301) right next to it, 45U0400 is the one to get as it is ANTI-GALVANIC.
I am more concerned with them fitting properly.

I just had to do this (not by choice)...

I could never understand the problem with the mail order parts places getting a correct 1350 series U-Joint.

I ended up buying my U-Joints from Denny's Driveshaft.

I know your shipping deal is a PITA, but if you just want to buy parts that I can 100% guarantee fit correctly...

This is the kit I bought. Comes with new straps and bolts for the stub axles too. I didn't want to chance anything else breaking.

If you just want the U-Joints.

I did them on the 94. I used Spicer 1350 series...make sure they are the anti-galvanic type. I also bought the new straps and bolts, not sure why, as when I swapped them out, the ones I took off looked as good as the ones I put on. It's not a huge project, I just followed the FSM instructions. I swapped the drive shaft ones at the same time.

You will need a press, tho...

The anti-galvanic is VERY important... this is because the shafts and yokes are aluminum... and the ujoint's aren't!!!

Oh, GM and Delco have different part numbers...

Will, these are the anti-galvanic type correct? I think its funny that it is for 1963 to 96. That is still a very good price, a little cheaper than Rock Auto as they are 26.75 each.
Thanks
Update, Dennys arent anti-galvanic. But they say even in their High Salt environment, they never see corrosion.
I dont think it will be harmful. I can always put a coating of some of the stuff we use on ships/subs etc to prevent rust/corrosion. Readily available products at West marine.

I guess another question is, where are these made and the quality of the metal.
AC Delco? Probably Mexico
Dana/Spicer -USA
NEAPCO? Bruteforce-USA?

Neapco is a foreign made...I want to say China or Korea...but not 100% positive. I can't say at all on the Bruteforce. I stuck with Spicer.

the denny kit is absolutly the best u joint you can put in a c4plus these u joints you can press the cups that go onto the rear diff and stub axles towards the center of the ujoint and you will hear a little click which locks them on so they wont fall off during install .

That's nice. I had to replace some ujoints cause when I pulled the half shaft. A couple of the caps fell off and the needles fell out.

I think next time I may put a zip lock around the caps to help keep them in place.

Dennys reputation is very good. I have no doubt their kit is great. I will probably go with it, once I get back from Guam.

High salt with steel on steel is much different than high salt with steel on aluminum. Throw some antisieze on it at least.

Couldn't the antisieze help cause the cap to spin in the yoke?
