It never ceases to amaze me what one can do with too much money and too much time. I'm willing to give it a shot though.

Yea, nuts, I've seen that before.

But I really like Peter's vintage 69 bigblock racecar that he built.

Rest in Piece, Tom.

However, I want one... I have seen that car before, and there are a couple of vintage 1930s RR street cars with that engine in it. Jay Leno has one. Apparently, this guy built it about 20 years ago. Ends up in a story in Autoweek. Leno hears/sees it and sends up going nutso and buys it.

The end result? Leno gets it and the guy's at Big Dog retune it... MPG improved from 1.5 to 3... wow. And Nelson bitches about the 496.

There are also the Blast-O-Line brothers... making huge coupes out of truck chassis and vintage tank engines and such... I talked to them once at a car show, this car had a Packard Marine V12 in it (out of a PT boat)... about the same size as the Merlin... gets all of 1 mpg!

When they started that thing, it wasn't top fuel loud, but you could hear it all over the grounds...

If you watched the video, the motor was on the dyno. Just south of 3500 hp. Torque numbers, well now that's another story.

That beast came out of a ship, without the blowers of course.

yea, saw all of that... but I still question the accuracy.

Remember, GM/Ford/Mopar all dyno test on water cooled dyno's... cooled by the nearest great lake! I saw no such cooling here.

I suspect that motor came from a tug boat... anything bigger, well... it would be a lot bigger!

As for torque... would you believe... it could change the earths rotational speed? I am betting over 5000 lbs...
