Oil? I use basic Castrol GTX, but you may want to check out the high-zinc content racing oils. Also, I change mine out about 100 miles in and again at 1000, then it should be ok. I would change to synthetic at about 4k to 5k miles. |

Flat tappet cam? If so, buy the special, expensive break in oil that contains zinc for flat tappet cams. Do not use synthetic for break in.
I changed my break in oil at 20 minutes, then 500 miles, then 1500 miles, then 3000 miles. Overkill, but cheap insurance. |

thanks for the replies!
it's a retrofit roller cam. the guy at oreily's suggested mobil 1 synthetic plus lucas additive. do you reuse the same oil filter after you change the oil at 20 min. or 100/500 miles? or is it a new filter each time? |

Builder said he would have broke it in on the dyno, but I needed to get 200 miles on the clutch 1st in order to break it in.
