And cost so much.

Pics of the headlight bulb retainers and trim rings, note all the blue paint on the trim rings from that quality 1970's body shop.

Had to remove the paint and polish them. You have to be very careful not to remove the flash chrome, it's extremely thin. At least 45 minutes per ring.

The pic with 2 rings is before & after polishing,

Last pic is the horn button, again with the 1970's body shop, there was blue overspray on this and the center is plastic so no lacquer thinner on it, took an hour to polish off the overspray (Maguiar's Plastex). The 2 black rings had to be repainted, one with a brush and the larger one was sprayed.

Lookin' good! How the hell did they manage to get overspray on the horn button?

Damn if I know, friggin' idiots. The body work they screwed up was worse.

At least I saved the horn button, a new one is $52. That chit adds up fast. 2 small bearings for the steering column - $100.

Those parts look amazing, Bill. Just keep in mind that each piece restored is that much closer to getting it done.

.....yeah...you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time.......so its going to take awhile.......that's what I tell my kids anyway......

I applaud your attention to detail and not just buying replacements on some of the stuff......those rings look good......so when you gonna start on the engine......? ......and yes I'm starting on the Honda this winter.....already making plans on how to proceed......

I'll do the engine/trans if I ever sell the trailer.
I looked at pricing from the machine shop that will do the machine work, total cost will be about $1,900. Doesn't count buying new ignition shielding.
Trans is only 185.

I'd rather restore parts than buy repos, just makes me feel better and buying all that stuff would double my parts costs.
