The hinge on my fuel door is broken. It's been that way since I bought it and since a new one is quite expensive I have been trying to score one on Ebay. I finally bought one tonight using the 'buy it now' option. Every one I've tried to bid on has been bought up at the last second. I've seen quite a few sell, is this a common problem?

The common problem being broken fuel doors OR ebay bidders hitting the bid with seconds to go? I havn't seen many if any broken fuel doors.
Ebay bidders always hit the bid with as few seconds to go in the auction as possible. The best way to avoid this is to use the "buy it now" button. The risk in using the buy it now, you risk overpaying.

If you are sure you want to buy something on ebay and at the lowest possible price hold your bid until about 10 seconds left. Then bid what you are willing to pay, not just barely over the current bidder. Keeps a bidding war from driving the price up and ebay only places your bid just enough higher to be the high bidder, up to your max amount. If it goes for more han you wanted to pay don't worry, another one will be along soon.

fuel doors--somehow people do manage to break the hinges. Gorilla Hands Syndrome.

They don't make the hinges anymore. I got mine at Contemporary Corvette for about 50 bucks.

I just received the door from UPS and put it in. Looks and works great. Just one more thing off my winter check list. :thumbright:
