Well, seems like I have all the bugs worked out as of this morning!!!! The issue with the bad idle and hot #8 header pipe was the same. #4 and #6 wires were in the wrong spot, and bad timing. (thinking I'll get different color wires for each cyl)....

So, I went and picked up my timing light that I loaned to my uncle. Fired it up this morning after switching the wires, and BOOM!!!!! FIRED!!!

I was able to set the base timing by disconnecting the ESC and nailed it up at exactly 6* BTDC.

I let it get to operating temp and raced it a few times. Problem is that it's wet out today. New motor, wet pavement, not a good combo.

But all seems to be running well and the only thing left is to fix a small valve cover leak on the passenger side. Perhaps the gasket didn't sit right.

Special thanks to ByebyeL98 for coming over and checking my work, helping me with the fuel line issue. Honorable mention to CFI-EFI for his phone support, as well as MSEVEN. And the countless others who have offered insights and advice. I appreciate it all.

Now, I have to go fix a valve cover leak once the engine cools off.

Right on, youve been through hell on this one, nothing better than hearing it turning over and catching its first breath of life. Keep us posted.

It wasn't that bad. I took my time, asked a lot of questions. I was in no rush. Better to do it slow than twice. Twice always costs more and takes longer.

It was the little stuff like grinding down the threads on the nut that holds the fuel line into the TPI fuel rail. That was touch and go, could have set me back some. There are no clean fuel solutions. No matter how neatly you do it, it's a cluge job.

I'd wager that 75% of starting problems on a rebuild are electronics related.

Glad to hear you found it.

Thanks guys. It looks good now that it's together. The tires are on the floor, and when the rain goes away, I'm taking it to get the exhaust done.
