I get out of work at midnight and I have a 20 mile trip home, 14 of that is highway. Last night, full moon and clear, I was on my way home and noticed I had the highway all to my self and the thought of dropping the hammer immediately came to mind. I rarely ever do it but every now and then when there is no traffic, highway only, I like to indulge. As quick as the grin came to my face at the thought, I felt this overwhelming "feeling" of DON'T DO IT! I kept to the speed limit, I never saw anyone all the way home, and nothing happened. Experience has taught me to never ignore things like this and I usually encounter what it is that would have been the disaster, but not last night. Well, better safe than dead. :thumbleft:

I get that feeling every once in a while. But you never know. Better safe than sorry. I'm gonna try to make it to the dragstrip this year and might try autocross to see if I like it.

Besides, even if you were just speeding, you don't want to be one of those jags who posts "I was going 110 in a 55 and that asshole cop wrote me a ticket" like over on CF every other day. I can't stand that.

Actually, one was about how he got OUT of a ticket with his radar detector sitting in plain view. That was a new one..others are just whining.

I get that feeling every time I drive it, and usually follow through!

Used to commute on some country roads and hit triple digits daily... I miss those days. Now my commute is 2 miles, which isn't bad either, and it's basically the local dragstrip on the road where I work.

I drive about 800 miles a week. Not in the vette or impala, although once and a while I will take the cars where ever I am going. I usually drive from 75-80MPH. Out in PA there are long empty roads, especially late at night. Once in a while I will put the hammer down. So far I have been very lucky. I get "that feeling" alot since I am always on the road. And I usually follow it. Just about everytime I have decided not to go fast or to slow down, there has been a police car hiding in the middle of NOWHERE or some tractor trailer on its side, in the dark, up ahead. I hope my luck continues.

Drive safe guys.
