I did this awhile ago and stumbled across this pic.
You can route the bypass hose underneath the a/c compressor. This does NOT require removing the a/c compressor, I just happened to have it out for other reasons. I protected the hose because there's an edge on the a/c bracket towards the front of the intake and I didn't want it rubbing through. Tight fit, but much better than hoses stretched across the engine. I think I've got some pics with the compressor back installed too... Hmm... Also later on I added some EZ-Coils from goodyear (springy looking things) just as peace of mind to prevent the hose from ever kinking. |

Either the 70's and 80's were even more fun than I can remember, or you forgot to post the pic.
Never mind, it magically appeared. |

Hey central - can you put up some more pics or outline the steps, because I plan on doing it when I install the new rad.
Thanks, Matthew |

Steps?
1) Remove 2 factory TB hoses. 2) Shove 5/8" heater hose under a/c compressor, connect to front of TB and upper heater hose. 3) Tighten clamps. |

I didn't know if there was anything special - ie different length hoses, caps for the TB, connections, etc.
Thanks. Matthew |

Those are Goodyear HiMiler hoses. The kit with the rad hoses is about $50 then I had to buy some extra in bulk. Summit sells it in 6'(?) lengths. They claim it's more durable than silicone. I got sick of replacement hoses lasting a 2 years or so (considering the original hoses were on the car for 15+ years.)
You can also get clamps from them that have a protective piece to prevent the threads from digging into the hose. I recall the heater lines are 3/4 and 5/8. I was able to change everything except for this stupid little section that feeds the oil cooler, the molded hose shrinks from 3/4 to 5/8" and connects to a steel tee. |

So you have the kc-4 (I think)water/oil heat exchanger then?

I dunno what KC4 is. This is the factory z51 cooler, pumps a little coolant through an adapter above the oil filter.
I think it's basically worthless. It does help warm the oil a little faster on a cold start, so that's useful. I need to do something different for my oil temps before I do any more track days. Welcome to the forum btw! |

You can't to that if you have an oil cooler, the union for the hose that runs down below the engine is located under the A/C compressor.
Looks good though. Love the blue hoses. Its a shame the don't make them for '90+ Corvettes. Randy |

Thanks! yes it is kinda worthless IMO, with lots to go wrong as far as coolant goes. removed mine and went with a traditional cooler. kc4 is the factory code for this option. and it realy is a heat exchanger. best suited for fast warmup of oil. Aloha

Yes you can. I have the factory oil cooler. The tee is sorta blocked by the bottom part of the ac bracket in the pic. |
