I dropped a socket into the fender cavity on the passenger side, just beneath the radiator surge tank. While I was rooting around in there for the socket, I came up with this rubber hose. Any idea from where it came off?

it's the vent tube used to cool the blower motor for the climate control fan.

I saw it was under C4 Tech and was trying to abide by Bogus' wishes. No wise cracks in Technical. Twenty years from now nobody wants to read that crap. So, I respectfully withdrew. I'll save my banter for O.T.

I can't help but feel like I missed out on something now.

Oh joy, but at least I know what a fan breather hose looks like. Thanks C4 Tech.

Hey Bogus,

Thanks for your response. I never would have figured that out on my own.

It took me a while to get around to it. I'm now at the end of my major work and starting on the "little" stuff.

Took me a while to track down where the blower motor vent tube went. Even knowing what it was, I couldn't find out where it installed using the FSM as it is not shown on the appropriate figure (Fig 27). It does show it on figure 26, bud doesn't identify it! I finally found a great photo on the web:

http://www.autozone.com/images/cds/gif/medium/0900823d802136b5.gif

Turns out this wasn't exactly little stuff. It would have been really easy to trash the motor with that tube gone, and not necessarily from lack of cooling. That 1" hole where the tube goes would have let in plenty of stuff that would have torn up the motor!

Thanks again,

Qack
