Andrew, thanks for the pics. I'll just take my time. It's a winter project anyway. Heated garage You know how it can get around here.

Your welcome! That's the way I did it, I'd spend two hours here and two hours there. It took a lot of time! The metal will fly around a lot so cover up what you don't want it on.

Yes, take your time and keep at it. As I wrote above, these are pictures I took while working. I don't have any when I finished, that was years ago. May I critique your work now?

It's fine! You work on these a lot so I think it's great you edited the picture with important areas. This will help a lot of people to learn where to work and what to do.

On mine I really didn't do any major work, as I was fearful of making it worse. Mainly what I did was clean up all the casting ridges, some were huge, and smooth things out. I port matched and took a lot out of the plenum.

I'm saving all these pictures for referencing in future work.

interesting, valve job was finished off tonight

Had this guy flow them for the hell of it and as expected the numbers were low. I have flowed:

LT1
L98
Vortec
AFR 185, 210 with porting

On this bench and then gone directly to AFR where the exausts are about the same yet the intake readings are higher. I confronted the machinist about this as I was getting tired of spending money out of my pocket as I knew these flowed more and explained if someones spending damn good money on grinding they want to see good numbers to or my name is mud.

The machinist told me he knows his bench (both use superflow 600s) reads low as he doesnt care about true readings, they only throw them on there to check gains so whatever the difference is (before and after) it is.
Most heads they bring in are 18 deg or Reher-Morrison and not much is done to them. I asked him if they would look better with wet flow, lol.

My suspicion was the setup on the intake meaning the fit and claying in of the inlet fixture to mimic a perfect port match, thus the true readings on the intake are way off.
Noticed the exausts are similar, to be expected.

I will have a flow sheet tomorrow on these but for the time being the exhausts on these 113s heads
are over 200 cfm with no pipe. THink the owner should be real happy, first cut went 181 and he was content with that . This is with a stock valve size. I did cheat a little and do a little unshrouding on the combustion chamber.

There is more to be had but the 2nd cutting on these is all charity on my end and he wants to put it together now.
Cant wait to hear hios impressions of how it runs.

So far real pleased.
:occasion7: :occasion1:

Taken about a month or so ago prior to cleanup, valve job, etc.

If you are still looking for numbers, I can give you mine. My heads were ported and coated by Precision Motorsports and have 2.02 intake valves installed. Huge valves for these heads and they actually stick down past the head deck surface a little. Not sur if this is normal but to have the heads milled (cleaded up) you would have to remove the valves. Here are the flow numbers I was given:

Lift Before After
.100 79.4 86.9
.200 135.7 144.1
.300 174.5 180.3
.400 199.7 218.2
.500 202.9 235.0
.550 202.4 239.3
.600 203.6 242.3

I think you are doing excellent work, especially since you are staying with smaller valves. I like my heads and think they would be even better on a long tube runner car than they are for me. However, I'm going with 195CC aftermarket heads so these will be for sale sometime after Christmas or right after New Years. If you have an interested customer let me know, I can sell them to you and you can have them cleaned up and resell them as part of a build.

Dan those are super strong numbers for a 113, my guess is not much else could safely be done with them, Id be afraid of hitting water.
They did a great job on yours! Without a sonic tester I have to be a little conservative and be good with that;being as its a TPI motor with a small ZZ9 cam I wasnt looking for every bit, just pleasantly surprised. Was expecting less.

Ron looking forward to seeing the #'s. Are you going to be measuring the intake port as well? Curious to see how much they are hogged out as well.

Rick, I did not CC the intakes, if I had to guess Id say they were under 180cc.

No sheet as there is a light step left over from the valve job. Without blending it in theres no way to accurately say exactly what they will go.

I will say I spied an experimental Gen1 228-230 cc 23 deg SBC head that will be coming out at some point soon. I have never seen a bowl or port like these yet.

Try 340 cfm intake and 260 exh, wonder what the final product will go.
