85L98-84L83 84 owners! Would you trade up to a TPI or stay crossfire?

I own both crossfire and TPI. There is a little difference in performance but not a lot. I had an 84 and had TPI envy, because of the huge TPI aftermarket. So I bought an 85 for $4300 on ebay and now starting to stock pile TPI parts for a build. But I will always keep the crossfire, I like the unique engine even with the lacking on power.

I wouldn't trade up for another vette though, and if times get tough I will sell the TPI. And continue to rock the crossfire.

Port out that xfire intake and you will be shocked how much power you pick up.

I agree.

There are definitely plans in my far future for another 82 Cross-fire. I always liked the style of the C3 and I loved the uniqueness of the X-fire engine.

Trading UP to a tpi is like trading pennies for nickels.

The TPI simply isn't much of a step above the crossfire compared to what else is out there. I definitely wouldn't bother swapping one on your car.

My 84 is two things..The first Corvette I've ever owned and I am still in AWH of it and that is still enough for me.
The second is it's the fastest car that I've ever owned,That's great.3RD I've never driven a TPI Vette so I don't know what I'm missing.
It's been 2 years now and I'm still in love with my shiney red bride, couldn't possibly be lusting after something else.
The way I figure,If I went the TPI route then I'd always be wanting something better and faster.
I always see quite a few later 80s and early 90s Vetters wanting to trade up for something newer, faster, better.
The Crossfire is just fine and dandy for me thank you.
It's like getting a rich wife, then you want a thinner one and then a younger one and before you know it you are broke pennyless, owe a shitload of child support and are walking to your pissy job and coming home to an empty house and gotta ride the bus.
If you have something nice, you better appreciate it. There's a lot worse.

Maybe not exactly like that but Yep,I've learned most of my lessons the hard way.
When the C6s are being reposessed by the bank this spring I'll come cruising by in my super slow paid for 84 Crossfire and then we'll see who's the envious ones.

I'm waiting for the liquidation sale to pick up my Z06.

I'll have to buy two so that I have parts when one breaks down.

I'm guessing if GM folded, it wouldn't take long for someone to pick up the Corvette brand, whether it's another make, or a smaller group of investors.

If you keep stock, you will ALWAYS have a reference for tune.

Tuning mods? Better start doin' homework. And subsequent mods will put you back a square one to get your tune zero'ed again...
