They do it to cigarettes already, what's the difference? I think it's crappy, but wouldn't surprise me. What is funny, though, is "juice" won't be included. Some juice has more sugar in it than soda. Does that mean coke will rebrand itself as containing "real fruit juice" to get around the tax?
BTW, best response: "Fat Civilian Pete Martin Dec 15, 2008 3:55:22 PM Report Offensive Post Well good thing I like my scotch straight up." Haha. Matthew |

The difference is a skinny guy gets to pay taxes for drinking non-diet soda, where a non-smoker doesn't pay taxes on a pack of cigs.

WTF?
Why not just charge weight fees like they do for trucks? They can install sensors under the doormat at KFC. I drink soda. I'm not fat. I guess in some farfetched way you could say unhealthy people increase federal health care costs, and you're offsetting those costs by taxing consumption of unhealthy things. Hey, here's an idea, just charge people directly for the services they use and don't tax anything. |

I always felt that any non essentials should get whacked. I'd call it a Twinkee Tax. Chips, dips, cookies, ice cream. If it isn't in the pyramid of food essentials, whack it. It would make for a healthier American treasury as well as a healthier American.
I drank and smoked for years. I want to get even. Pay mofos. Pay. Now this is rather bothersome ........ http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_wo ... _shut_down_half_of_b.html |
