(Not to mention much less harmful to the environment). Power consumption is higher only because the TVs are so damn huge. Maybe the government should come into our houses and measure our TVs and tax us based on that. And gee, I wonder who's spending all the big bucks to scare us with this digital cable b.s. Probably 1% of the population has analog TVs, but the electronics giants and cable companies would rather make everyone think they have to run to the store and buy a new 40" flatscreen or else they'll be in the dark.

That's 2.5 cents per hour that it's on. Compare that to the money spent on a gym membership to burn off all the fat accumulated while sitting in front of the boob tube.
