Love them? Hate them? Would you own one? Post a favorite. I think if the price was right I might own one. I hate faking people out though. I'd tell everyone it was a kit car.

I am partial to some of the Porsche racer kits... but I suspect a Cobra Daytona Coupe is right up there with a fave.
I simply don't fit into a Cobra, so I doubt I would fit into the Coupe, either. |

At least one of the Cobra kit manufacturers makes a larger than life vehicle for regular size humans.

That wasn't part of the question, man! How about a Kellmark GT? I think it was a VW based Ford GT 40 kit. |

I would own one, wouldn't build one but, I don't hate them (except for anything VW based).
Some are crap, some are high quality like the superformance cobras & GT40s. I've driven their cobras on the track. When you look at the cost and what you could be driving for the same money?????????? |

Kit cars from the 60's - 90's are basically garbage. Everything was a poor fit, nothing seemed to work right on the parts they supplied. Major headaches. No when you look at the Ultima kits, Factory Five stuff, it's all state of the art tech doing the designing and building. They are much better. I think the only one I would like to do would be the GTM As far as the kit Cobra and the real ones at that, I find them to be utter garbage. I do not see how anybody thinks they are fun to drive after about ten minutes. After driving a couple it has satisfied all my curiosity about them enough to never want to own or drive another. |

Yea, I agree. The Cobra i drove was fun and noisy for about 10 minutes. Looking at the dollars that a nice kit costs to build, there's a lot of cars I'd rather buy and drive or mod. |

Speaking if kit cars - I was behind one of these today:
It was yellow "Puma" - it appeared to be an early 70s version. Kind of neat. The guy jumped on it and it seemed peppy, but not as quick as the vette because I floored it and I was gaining on him quick. As I passed him I could see he had a harness bar, harnesses, racing seats, and few other upgrades. Neat car overall. Matthew |
