Cool. I like watching races on that course but I found it was very annoying to actually drive on.

That's pretty funny actually. They let the google car drive on the pace lap.

I believe their processing software automatically looks for what it thinks are license plates on vehicles and obscures them as the data is submitted (it's not done at run time). It would mean that they processed the data submitted just like any other city street.

Laguna Trivia:

How did the world famous Corkscrew come about?

When they were building Laguna Seca, they had the track graded out up to the top of the hill. The contractor had to go to a lunch meeting. He told he dozer operator "Get down the hill any way you can."

Yea, really, tis the truth.

Speaking of trees, to get thru the corkscrew, you begin your corner entry and aim our nose towards the 3rd tree on the right (blind corner/dropoff).

Can't wait!

I have to get the hang of Willow Springs first. The tracks I've run on so far have all been relatively low speed or with lots of margin for error.

Yea, Laguna will blow you away, it's worth the long drive. What like 8 hours?
Laguna has much more runoff than it used to. The changes cost one million and was paid by Yamaha to get the Moto GP.

Did you do Big Willow yet?

No, haven't done big willow yet. I hear its a big momentum track which rewards good drivers. On the other hand it attracts so many high HP cars. Still beats the trips to streets of willow racing against miatas and s2k's. I'd rather be the small fish in a big pong. I favor Cal speedway only because its close by, but they don't run as many events there.

Big Willow's fun and fast, not many slow corners. The downhill off camber lefthander's tricky and the sweeper's a loooooong corner, fun.

Having Cal close by is nice. Before we got the Reno track, the closest track was 4.5 hours. Made for a very long test day when not staying overnite.

Big Willow would be a blast on your bike too.

Yea, T-Hill, one of my favorites and the track I have the most laps at, 2,500+.
The nice thing is that we (San Francisio SCCA) own it.
Note the timing building if you pan around to it. The first floor is an open room with a banquet kitchen that seats 250 people. Second floor is T&S. The third floor is a drivers lounge with 360 degree windows.
Another neat thing is that we have proably 100 electrical hookups for the racers and there's 2 metal canapies in the pits that provide shade for about 30 racecars each.
And private showers for the drivers/crew that never run out of hot water.

The largest current project is a group of windmills that will provide 100% of all electrical power most of the time.

This is also the track that does the NASA 25 hour endurance race.

Ok, fuck this, I'm moving. You can find me in the trailer behind the dumpsters at the back of the parking lot at thunderhill.

At Cal Speedway, some of the turns are *gasp* made from cones.

If one gets moved, your lap times increase by a half second.

Ha, so if you move a tad north, say, Sacramento, it's an hour to T-Hill, an hour to Sears Point, and 2 hours to Laguna. 3 trailers behind 3 dumpsters.
