Het guys, did finish the tables today, completely finished. Made the trip over to the 'city' to let GS (his day off) to have several hours 'play time' with GGD. Rosie and I did our weekly shopping.

The chests I built, will be finished by client.

Goomornin.

Drizzly and grey outside. Not too motivated right now so I'll have to dig deep to find my get up and go before it got up and went. I always have things to do. It's always just a matter of doing them. 5 more days before I can resume heavier lifting and more strenuos activity. Playing by the rules here. Though rain may change my course of action to undercover activities.

Hey guys, beautiful day here. Headed to the shop about 8:30 and finished up the two chests. Then worked on the auction tables until quitting for supper. Should finish up construction of those tomorrow and start the finishing process.

Good morning, cold early then we're due to hit 80 next few days. Would love to be off to enjoy it while it lasts. Need to start thinking about getting plants inside and debugged and junk. I hate that part. Good looking kiddo Tee, precious.
Tommy, still praying for you, I can't imagine how all that must feel.
Got a last minute situation on a trailer, and they claim they sent art and their designer didn't cause he said he had a low resolution problem. I run into that a lot from "college grad" designers. They want to put photos on the side of a 30ft trailer but work off a 12" layout and I can't make it look good blowing it up. That stuff is basic. They want the trailer by 10/30 and I won't even be back here till 10/23 to work on it. No way I can get print ready if I am the one having to do all that photoshop work, I have other things besides them to work on also with deadlines. People drive me nuts.

Buenos dias, mein herr und herren.

Warming slightly. Mid 80's during the afternoon. Mornings and evenings are nice in the low to mid 70's. Trying my best to do a few things while avoiding heavy lifting. I'm sore in the surgical area by the end of the day but I figure I have to move if I'm gonna get better. Sonny-boy is weighing on my mind which doesn't help matters. No news as of yet of his whereabouts. Just gonna keep moving forward one day at a time.

Hey guys, beautiful day here again. Worked in the shop all morning. Working on my donation project for the pheasants group auction and a clients' two blanket chests. This afternoon my stainless steel eye hooks came in so we went down to the storage shed and to install the curtains on the new awning. Still thinking I need to close up the West end (open end) with a curtain.

GGD has been a perfect angel. She absolutely LOVES being with grandpa and cries when I leave without her, that's why I'm posting so late...we had to put her in bed before I could get on the computer.

Yep discipline is the missing main ingredient in today's world along with church IMHO. Folks are no longer taught respect of others or others' property/possessions. And, if you call the cops when you need to, society labels you a Karen or a Kyle or cop caller, etc and it's a negative toward you. Totally ass backwards. I have had to start over too many times for me to live comfortably in my old age, but I'm determined to have my peace one way or another, and I have a piece in ever room in my house if I need to use it to make sure I get my peace.

This is what happens when a nation lacks discipline. Runaway renegades supporing God know what. Morals .... do they teach those anymore? I'm not saying that I'm an angel but when you stepped out of line you used to get a Look..... I'm an old hippie that did time in the military and spent his years scrimping and saving so I could live my elder years in peace and harmony. There is no peace and there is no harmony. Except of course in my yard and around my house where I am the Imperial Ruler, defender of all that is right, and will back it up by whatever means are necessary. All hail.

Good morning, cold out but warm later. Supposed to have a gal come up here to buy a rug off me, of course I left it at home. Messaged Arron to bring it on his way back from lunch. Reminds me I need to tell him to wad it up and put it in the cab considering the grease in the bed of the truck. I got all my people taken care of yesterday and even got that ambulance proofed early, so am in a waiting pattern. Just soon stay that way today, not much sleep so not on top of my game. My client on that tho is an enjoyable dude, he's a transplanted Brit. Just like talking to one of the dudes on that show Top Gear. I could listen to him all day long.
Yeah, traveling with others requires sacrifices, sharing and give/take. I don't know what it is about losing a kidney but I STILL don't have all my energy back and that was a ton of driving so I was tired. And, when I'm at the beach, on rainy days I do like to go eat, or shop, but then I like to come to the room, open the doors and just sit there and nap or read. I don't like to run around every day and I'm sure not getting off my hind end and outa my beach chair at 3:30 to go eat and miss half my day in the sun. I also like to try different foods and I understand one place's fried oysters might not taste like another place but I'm sure not gonna make a scene at a restaurant and tell them my food is shitty and refuse to tip a waitress. I called out on that one, it's not her fault the kitchen messed up or that her taste buds dont' like their seasonings, etc. We usually have a good trip, not sure what was up her butt on this go around.

When I just wrote the date I was like ... WHAT??? Where the hell did THIS month go. It's almost All Hallow's Eve. I want to do some chores but battle to do them. I'm trying to stay as low profile as possible for another week as the doc said I can resume activities 4 weeks after surgery. Yep. Next Wed. will be 4 weeks. Time flies when you're having fun. Hell, time flies when you're not having fun. Tempus fugit. Have to work on my bucket list because right now my bucket is empty.

Hey guys,

.... wait a minute Marc, we've travelled together.......

Chilly start here, but warmed right up. We have GGD for the week. GD-in-law getting moved, so we are watching her until Sunday. She didn't sleep too well last night, so, neither did we.

Made a trip to the 'city' to give GS some of the things GD-in-law took with her... microwave, extra pillows, a vacuum and an old Lazy Boy. He's doing pretty well, or at least is putting on a pretty good show.

I did get a little work in at the shop after we got back.

Working stiff here... been busy.

Last Monday was my birthday, so what do I get? A $1400 plumbers bill! There was a chunk of sewer pipe that was as just a mess. It had to be replaced.

Good afternoon, hope everyone is feeling better, continued prayers for ya'll Tommy for some good news from Sonny-boy. I can't imagine how that would weight on my heart, mind and soul. Marcus, when that tv crew is done, be sure to give us a linky so we can see too.
First day back to work from vaca, I felt like I've not been anywhere since I did all the driving. Not drove that much in a couple years I think. And, her attitude bout shot my nerves and ruined my trip for the most part. We've vaca'd before and no issues but not sure what was up her hind end this time. I feel like I need to go back and do what I want the way I want as I didn't really get a say in anything just bossed around. Oh well. Live and learn. Been crazy at the office so I'll get back at it.

Hey guys, good day here. Started off very chilly...below freezing. But turned around quickly and recovered to upper 70s.

Worked in the shop most of the day.

Feeling much better today, no headaches, body aches or hacking.

Also, seems like those doctor visits are more common as we get older. Not my favorite times.....

Press Release:

Corvette C5-R Part of Inaugural IMSA Hall of Fame Class

The car that started it all for Corvette Racing’s quarter-century of success

BRASELTON, Ga. (Oct. 15, 2023) – A quarter-century after it first hit the racetrack for its competition debut, the Chevrolet Corvette C5-R has been honored as part of the inaugural class of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Hall of Fame.

The enshrinement was made official at IMSA’s annual Night of Champions banquet near Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and site of the season-ending Petit Le Mans race.

Herb Fishel, former Executive Director of GM Racing, was on-hand to mark the C5-R’s induction as one of the first racecar in the IMSA Hall of Fame. Fishel led the team at General Motors that laid the groundwork for Corvette Racing and Chevrolet’s goal of returning to top-level sports car racing at the factory level in the mid-1990s.

The C5-R was born to race, according to Fishel, and was the result of collaboration between many groups within General Motors to create a long-term, factory-level road racing program for Chevrolet. The goal was to position Corvette as competitor to the world’s best sports car manufacturers on the racetrack and in the showroom. So even before the fifth-generation Corvette rolled into dealerships, plans were well underway to return Chevrolet to professional endurance racing.

What has developed from C5-R is an on-going Corvette Racing program where increasing synergies between racing and production engineering have become the norm – the latest examples being the eighth-generation, mid-engine Corvette production vehicles and the C8.R and the Z06 GT3.R that will make its competitive debut in 2024.

“This was a very collaborative effort that established Corvette Racing as one of the premier sports car programs in the world,” Fishel said. “It started with GM and involved various groups from both production – including vehicle engineering, design and powertrain – and racing partners like Pratt Miller and Katech working hand-in-hand. Out of the efforts from each of these groups came the first factory-produced Corvette race car in almost 40 years, and one that changed the landscape of not just Corvette but sports car racing as a whole.”

The Corvette C5-R debuted in 1999 with a class podium finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and was a fixture of global GT racing for the next five years. From 1999-2004, Corvette Racing and the C5-R set the standard for racing success with 31 victories in the American Le Mans Series, along with an overall victory at the Rolex 24 in 2001.

Success wasn’t limited to North America. The C5-R scored the first of its three GTS victories at Le Mans in 2001, following with wins in 2002 and 2004. ALMS team and manufacturer championships came in 2001-04. Of Corvette Racing’s 127 victories, nearly 25 percent came with the C5-R.

The C5-R also helped instill Corvette drivers such as Ron Fellows and Johnny O’Connell as faces of the team and the ALMS. Fellows won 21 ALMS races in the C5-R and captured the GTS drivers’ championship three times, including twice with O’Connell. It also helped launch the sports car careers for future stars like Oliver Gavin.

“It is a tremendous honor to see the Corvette C5-R go into the IMSA Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance and Motorsports. Campbell was part of the leadership team that helped guide the C5-R to its racing debut at Daytona in 1999.

“It also is an honor to have Herb Fishel here to represent the team that brought the C5-R to the track. When you look at what Corvette Racing represents – the synergy between motorsports and the showroom – it all began with the C5-R,” Campbell added. “The fans loved it. Our Corvette owners loved it. It helped set the standard for 25 years of Corvette Racing.”

Went to see my cardiologist this morning. Gave me an appointment for 6 months from now so apparently I've got another extension. Temps are down so I'll be outside in the yard. deivery for sue tomorrow first thing in the morning so I should be back home by 10:00 AM. That's just fine by me. Skin doctor next week. I'm sure they'll want to do a little cutting on a couple of spots. After that I should be good for the rest of the year.

CORVETTE RACING AT PETIT LE MANS: SPOILER ALERT

Press Release:

CORVETTE RACING AT PETIT LE MANS:

Closing the C8.R Chapter in IMSA

BRASELTON, Ga. (October 14, 2023) – The Chevrolet Corvette C8.R ended its run in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship leading Petit Le Mans on Saturday, but unfortunately that happened just past the halfway point of the 10-hour race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Corvette Racing’s mid-engine challenger retired with a yet-to-be-determined engine issue that caused Tommy Milner to lose power while leading the GT Daytona (GTD) PRO class with less than five hours left in the race. He, Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor had dominated the race up to that point by leading 87 of the Corvette’s 189 laps.

The C8.R has one more race left in the FIA World Endurance Championship, but it has compiled an impressive record of 20 victories in 80 races – including Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring – and IMSA Manufacturers, Drivers and Team championships in 2020 and 2021. It will give way in 2024 to the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which will see four cars running in the WeatherTech Championship next season.

On Saturday, it appeared early that the C8.R would add a long-sought Petit Le Mans victory to the honor roll. Garcia began the race second in class but moved to the GTD PRO lead just past the one-hour mark. He drove a double-stint to open before handing off to Taylor for his own double.

The Corvette ran fourth just shy of the three-hour mark, but a sterling pit stop by the Corvette crew during the race’s fifth full-course yellow leap-frogged Taylor - making his final start with Corvette Racing - back to the lead. That’s where he ran before handing over the C8.R to Milner four hours into the race.

The Corvette Racing effort transitions into the Corvette Z06 GT3.R era starting with the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Saturday, Jan. 27.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It was looking quite good. I was surprised how competitive we were right away. My double-stint was good. Jordan’s double-stint was really good. Tommy was leading. Everything was kind of falling in the right places for us. We had little things with strategy where we might have lost the lead, but we were up there and executing another great Corvette race. Even if most of the cars had more pace than us, it would have been difficult for them. It’s a shame to end this way. I wish we had another result and another way to do our last race with Jordan and this car. But it feels like another Petit Le Mans where I go away not winning it! It’s disappointing, but I’ll never give up trying to win this one.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It’s sad and a bittersweet ending. We went out leading, which is a positive. It’s too bad the fans didn’t get to see us finish one last race in IMSA in the C8.R. It’s been an amazing run with this car – two GTLM championships, we’ve won the WEC championship this year, a Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring… we were just missing Petit Le Mans. It’s been an amazing run for this generation of Corvette, and hopefully the next one can get this one checked off the list.

“This isn’t a farewell. I won’t be driving for the team any more, but I’ll still be around. I don’t want anyone to not come around and say hello. I’ve been here for 12 years now, and I’ve grown up in this program. With these team members, the crew members, the engineers, management, the race fans – they’ve all seen me grow and progress. I wouldn’t want any of that to change. These people will be family for the rest of my life.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “At the end of the day, it’s not the result we were hoping for and on track for. The car was great today. Antonio and Jordan did a phenomenal job today. The engineering guys made the right pit calls, even a little risky setup call for the race today that we weren’t totally confident in. But those guys worked hard to give us a great Corvette today, and they definitely did. So I’m disappointed with the finish but I’m super proud of what this team has achieved from the very beginning of the C8.R’s life – not just the guys here but the guys in WEC and a lot of guys in Michigan who have spent a long many years working on this car, developing the car and making it better. It’s not how we wanted to end it all, but I’ve excited for what’s to come with the Corvette GT3 racecar.  It took me a little bit to get used to this car because I’ve driven the GT3 for so long, and it does so many things really well. I’m really excited for the future.”

Morning guys... VERY chilly this morning, back porch thermo says 30. It is mid October. Slept like a log last night. No headache yet, but body aches are still present. Overall, I feel a little better this morning.

Still holding out for a good report Tommy.

Sonny-boy is still in the wind. Hoping he turns up soon. Weighs heavily on my mind but as with all Earthly things, I'm relying on the will of God.
A rare dip in temps is expected here next week in the high 50's for a low on Tues and high 70'd low 80's for highs through the week. I anticipate a lovely week in the Homestead area. Should be some great weeding and outdoor clean up weather. I'm still on a weight restriction for another week and a half. Feeling better and better everyday. Doc said they repaired 2 hernias so no matter what the outcome it should be an improvement of how it was before surgery. Only time will tell. Sue's finger is still on the mend. Her primary physician found that she was battling 2 different bacterial infections in her finger and changed her antibiotics to fight them. Her finger is fat and tender. We both just keep on keeping on. That's all any of us can do.

ANOTHER CLOUDY MORNING HERE, 51 ON THE FRONT PORCH, CALM AT THE MOMENT. WAS WINDY ALL DAY YESTERDAY AND MAY BE AGAIN TODAY.

HOPE YOU'RE FEELING BETTER, TEE.

ANY WORD ON THE MISSING, TOMMY?

OPEN AGENDA TODAY. DARLING WIFE SAW SOME OLD FRIENDS AT THE TULSA FUNERAL; THE CUSTOMS ARE REALLY CHANGING. I THINK THE FUNERAL INDUSTRY HAS PRICED THE OLD MODEL OUT OF REACH FOR THE AVERAGE FAMILY.

I SEE THE USUAL SUSPECTS ARE DEMANDING ISRAEL PULL IT'S PUNCHES IN GAZA. MUSTN'T LET THOSE SWEET, INNOCENT PALESTINIANS SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR ACTIONS.

I SEE THE WIND PICKING UP AND IT'S TIME TO FEED TROUBLE.

ENJOY, EVERYBODY!

Hey guys, pretty chilly here today. Went out to the shop to glue a couple of chests together.

Last night I came home from the football game, got chilled...low grade fever. While out in the shop, I started getting a headache. Was supposed to go over after church to babysit GGD, but I told Rosie, I'd better not because of my symptoms. So she had a Covid test and we checked ... Positive... so we had another brand and I took a second one ... POSITIVE. She took one and she's negative. So she's going over to watch GGD. Headache a little better this evening, but lightheaded. Going to lay low for a couple days.

Hoping no news is good news Tommy.
