Hi Guru's successful day. Brakes are bleed, wheels clean ed with all the crud removed from the inner offset, torqued the wheels down to 125 ft pounds, interior put back in excellent condition, found a fifty dollar bill I'll have to get a hold of Kevin the previous owner and finished the body reconditioning. I will wax it in the next couple of days. Throttle body is spotless! Took it out for a drive, very impressive. Noticed its wants to run and seems to find its sweet spot at 3800 rpm. Its going to take me awhile to easy into this monster. Erin

All the can says is contains toluene and xylene.
I always use a NIOSH resperator when playing with paint.IIRC isocynide is used in the 2 part urethane car paints and shouldn't be sprayed unless you have a supplied air system mask.

BTW, if you use the Duplicolor adhesion promoter on plastic, try a test application on some scrap. I've had good results with it and I've had some wrinkles show up in the top coat using it.

Thanks, Dad has all the safety and resperators to spray paint.

Exactly! I'm surprised he took instruction. Many times the political animal in them needs to know everything there is and don't mind telling you. I would not make a good politician, too honest and will tell "it like it is" based on my 27 years on this planet.

I had a chance to talk to our Congressmen once... I left thinking maybe I didn't make my self clear! or worse yet maybe his hearing was going bad! 180 degree answer to my question. I think it was an embrassing moment for him! I have always felt that maybe more and more incompetant people are running for office because the smart ones know better.

Good Morning Guru's. Finally quit working on zo6 at 3 am, closed up shop. I'm back again with my collie ready to attack the vette. Vette is jacked up on stands ready to bleed brakes.
Vetron(dad) spent 4 hours total dive time yeaterday. He has a cut in his wet suit. I noticed both double tanks and a single tank is empty. Not sure what he was recovering, I hope what ever it was didn't bite him or fight him. Not sure if you will hear much from him today!
Well guys got hop to it on the Vette, suppose to drive it in two weeks to St.Paul/Minn to see a couple of my Purdue friends.
Have a great Sunday guys!! Erin

I decided at 1:30 am to remove the throttle body. Fairly straight up procedure. I agree I hate to spray all that crud down into the cylinders, considering dad changed oil when I first got "zoe".
I bought a quart of victory red last week. I thought about spraying fuel rail cover the same color as body color, not sure how body paint will hold up to underhood environment.

Sorry guys I'm trying to cram a ton of work on zo6 and have be productive with limited time I have.
Just checked brake fluid and its black in color. I understand the problems with brake fluid as to humidity and moisture. My question is do I start at the back passenger side than drivers front and cris cross. Dad has a power bleeder, used it only once. I'm thinking about the old method of pumping up brakes press firmly on pedal and bleed. However will that be enough to clean out system.
Its 12 midnight listening to country music, drinking an A&W rootbeer and loving this Vette. No work tomorrow. All day with my dog and Vette. God life is great.
BTW Sea Foam took off my nail polish. Life is Good. At this point dad would say I talk too much. But this is so neat!

Andy I used acetone to clean rail covers and degreased everything. Your sons looks great how did you get the high gloss finish several coats? When did your son do this? Looks nice.

Powder coating is activated by heat right! Sooo this one app.

I was under the impression that an independent rear end was not the best choice for hard launch situations and a solid axle was better. So large tire with a taller aspect ratio would help on the launch. But hop will still be an issue since traction bars can not be added to help plant the power to the ground. Shocks will help control the rebound of the springs but probably won't help wheel hop. Just my opinion.

Finally I have a chance to work on the zo6. Quick question regarding throttle body cleaning. I took off the air inlet hose to the throttle body and its filthy, dad has sea foam in an aerosol can. Do I spray the throttle body without the engine running or do I replace inlet hose and worm nozzle tube from sea foam can and spray away with engine running.? I think I can remove the whole throttle body and spray it down completely. Does this have throttle by wire? I have zero help today, dads doing a recovery dive.
Update 80% of the tar is removed, what I thought was tar was black spray paint on the rocker panels I don't know where he picked that up from. The hood I wet sanded with 2,000 grit, lightly sanded rockers and feather the missing paint with an air brush. Guys it looks really good. I'll take pics.
My engine covers are dull, is there a special paint that I need to respray them?
Thanks Erin

Well guys its been a long week and a really long day. I feel like something the cat dragged in! I get a little break Friday I don't have to be into work until 8 am. I noticed dad is relaxed now, he gets a little well actually a lot worried when I travel. He tries not to show it but he starts talking guns when his is concerned about my safety, good thing this is not a gun forum. Have a great night guys. Erin.

Vette people are funny.

Tommy I'm started to find that out. The few miles that I have put on my Vette has been a study in male macho behavior. Pull up to a Honda with two 20 something guys and its on, until they check out the car a little closer and see the ZO6 and turn down their subs and rap and listen to the engine. Neat feeling. Guys in other Vettes follow me.

Tommy I'm glad your OK.
I think Vetron wouldn't look very good in that wet suit! Kind of like the hulk meets Barney and Big Bird. He use to scare the crap out of me when I was a little girl when he would come out off the water and not make any noise at our lake house. He took me diving a couple of times. His tanks are really heavy! he has d rings on the tank pack that i would put my little princess dolls on, it wasn't until years later those rings were for grenades and mines. Wow what can I say! Welcome to my world

A study conducted by Mass General Hospital has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: if she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest with a bat up his ass while he is on fire. No further studies are expected on this subject.

Thank You for your input. The Tire Rack is only 6 miles from me. When I get a chance I will take zo6 to have her tires checked. I needed tires for my Fusion last fall. You should see their showroom. These guys are really good.
Work is kicking my butt today! Got off at 5 pm and have to go back tonight for a meeting. Friday is off for working on ZO6 suppose do something at Notre Dame. Next day off is a week from tomorrow. Need to run tonight my long course, 7.4 miles. I broke the toe on my left foot playing soccer in high school and gets aggravated on long runs.
It could be I had turf toe twice before it broke, or wearing heels made it swell. Again I appreciate your response, The previous owner never beat the Vette but told me the it was hard on tires. Rear tires look great front are the ones that are showing wear. I'll have it aligned after I get new tires. Thanks Erin

Have a quick question. 07 ZO6 has 18" rim front and 19" rear. The previous owner reduced the price of the vette by 1,800 to cover new tires. The Mich/Pilots on it, estimated tread wear left less then 10,000 miles.
Tire Rack has Mich/Pilots for 1,900 and Generals for 990. for a set of 4. This where I need help! The Michelin is rated lower than the General at half the price, or is it the price that gave it its high rating? Tire compound? Should I buy now knowing quite well prices on tires will go up next spring. Vette will be stored all winter. Second question will the "sticky tire compound" deteroriate faster on a car in storage or flatten out during storage?

Good Evening Guru's. Just finished my In-Service to nurses doing their clinicals and doctors just beginning their internship. Comparative Anaylsis and how to reduce false negatives in their tissue samples. Another day the zo6 sits. I have been heels all day and I could strangle the guy that designed these. Taking my mom out to dinner tonight gets her mind off dad's diving ventures. I keep reminding her if they hit him with a boat they'll just get him mad! The Coast Guard keeps an eye on him when he's down.
Well guys got to get motivated here get off dads computer, eat dinner and crash. Hope to work on zo6 on Friday.

Surprised the Charger could go that fast She adds to the text see Erin what Corvettes will do to you Slow Down!!! I texted back Ive only put on 20 miles.

what is this "running" thing? Is it yet another unhealthy form of this thing ppl call "exercise?"

It helps relieve stress, gives me time to think, I just finished my run around Notre Dame and met Brian Kelly Notre Dames Head Football Coach. Nice guy. Thursday night I met two priests that were running. See yea never now who your going to meet. Last May I was running and a guy became very aggressive towards me. Dad taught me mauy thai and krev maga since I was 8, really slowed my time that day. I try and run every other day.

I understand your point about the government stepping in. How did we survive all this time without their help! Dad has meetings Tuesday kids Wed. I think he started teaching in the early seventies and was out of the country for awhile in 73 & 74. He tells me he was touring Central America, way before my time.
Good Luck Tom with your school year! your students are lucky to have you as a teacher! Erin

Hi Matt when I run I mix a smoothe with bananas for potassium, fruit for fructose, and protein in the form egg byproducts. After my run follow up with another smoothe of bananas, fruit and milk, during the run gaterade, has all the properties of sweat keeps the electolytes up. I do the same when I lift.
Your times are good, I added above because I was having problems running in the heat. I got side track for a minute while posting. Anyway when I started the smoothe formula my times dropped and felt better. IMO Erin

I must have missed this post last night! Hi Tom. I'm Erin Ron's daughter. He has talked about you, trust me all good. Honestly I don't know how you guys do it! I hope you have a great school year! Kids have changed a lot since I graduated from high school in 2000. I see it here, they seem to lack direction and want it all by the time they are 20 without working for it! When we hire in the Lab I define what work is! Pathetic! Erin

Good Morning Gurus. Lab is running well today. Hope to get out of here by 3. I usually run the two lakes at Notre Dame with my Collie. I live a mile and half from campus. Its cool enough to run her without any heat related issues.
Mom and dad return late tonight from their mini road trip. They are in Nashille Indiana, cute little town crafty type place. He texted me last night that the 87 achieved 32 mph at one point. I let their collie out twice a day.
He has four messages to do more scuba diving in South Haven,Michigan. I hate when he does that alone. He has twin 72 tanks with a Royal Aqua Master DA regulator. Tanks have hard points for Military stuff. His wet suit draws attention has his blood type and where to send body if things went wrong back in the day. Topic of conversation that he hates. The pay is outstanding.
Well guys its 11:00 am have 17 timed samples to review. Have a great Sunday. I hope after my run I can a least look at the ZO6. Tomorrow I play teacher. Erin

I'm usually in scrubs and Nikes' but when I travel I have to look the part thus the heels. The ZO6 will require flats or better yet bare feet. Vetron has a 55 Chevy that should not be allowed on this planet that I tried to drive with nice shoes on, big mistake! Dad just smiled and replaced the garage door the next day. I noticed its difficult to removed yourself from a Corvette with a skirt on. I do drive with flip flops on I have noticed the ZO6 is not very forgiving if you somehow hit the gas instead of the brake. Dads Vette is an automatic. Erin

Mom just smiles. My future husband (maybe next spring) views HCF on a regular basis.
