Oh yea, glad to see you guys are still around. I kind of just forgot the website lol. It's in my favorites folder now. ;)

Doesn't matter but NGK plugs are much better than the Delcos now. The Delcos are made in China and the NGK are made in Japan....Which do YOU think will be better in the long run?

I had a foglight kit and then got another one(first one damaged). Yosi gave me Stainless Steel Ballast for the fogs instead of the plastic ones. I just buffed them a little with some polish real nice shine to them and with the harder case, less prone to damage or being cracked. Pics below. I believe the stock headlight ballast are plastic too but I got laser etched morimoto ballast so they are metal as well! I just thought Id share the good customer service with the vendor.

http://www.dewitts.com/pages/productdetail.asp?ProdID=428

Compared to my stock fan, that thing is gorgeous and apparently according to Dewitts, it kicks the stock fans ass. I was eventually....and I mean deep in the future upgrade to that radiator but wow, I saw that fan and haha...I may have to hide the Credit Card.....

Anyone know anything about it? Im just curious, what makes it so much more powerful?

It intrigues me how this technology is so benefiical and here it is for us NOW but the engineers...sucked....I know all about the emissions and the hot running motor but that is irrelevant. It just amazes me how this technology is so available.

Seriously think about it. If you took two new engines. Put this fan in vs a stock fan and ran them both hard. It only makes sense for the dewitts to make the engine last longer vs stock....Id like to know more about the motor that powers the fan. Then again, if it's more powerful, does it wear out faster? I might email dewitts to satisfy my curiosity but I still want members thoughts because they are still in the biz for the money.....

3 plugs fouled with oil

Leaking exaust manifold gasket

Transmission pan leak

tps voltage flucuates which I assume means it's bad. It's OE so it's seen better days

2 spark plug wire boots starting to get burned and all of them come off REAL easily

Choppy Idle

Maf checks out ok

Unidentified piece unplugged or moved(picture posted above)

I just wanna rip the whole damn top end off and figure out what the heck is going on in there!

Would bad seals or rings would foul the plugs which means oils eascaping which can only lead to more trouble.

It's just these little nit pick things that get me all riled up about it.

Off to go take a flashlight and peak around a little more.

Oh yea, I will sell my L98 motor for the cost of a motor to swap in. :P haha....just kidding.

I pulled 2 plugs and they are coated in oil which means that my rings are shot because the oil is seeping past them. Im getting a decent tax return so I sent the below message to vette2vette.com a few moments ago.

Jason, I have ordered parts from you before and basically my problem is my L98 is just old. How much would a LT1 or LS1 run used? Im on a bit of a tight budget. Also, Bogus is the guy who showed me your site before. Thanks,

Michael

I tugged on my wires and they seem to come off loosely. Still investigating and I will show you my "oily" plugs later once I get to dig a little deeper. It's a never ending cycle.... btw, Bogus, you have mail.

P.S. What is this thing thats hanging underneath the plenum. It was just sitting there unbolted and I can't figure out what it is and if it does anything. Help?

Why in the hell did you put SeaFoam into the oil?

Drain and change the oil ASAP!!! Filter, too. Depending on run time with the SeaFoam, it might not have hurt anything.

As for the miss, check that all the injectors are working and that the plugs/wires are ok.

This should be an object lesson in parts selection. I know you are a on a budget, but never ever buy cheap engine parts. If you need plug wires, get the good ones - Taylor/MSD. If you need plugs, get the good ones - NGK/Rapid Fires. Same goes with the cap/rotor. OEM, MSD or Accel. Not that I really like Accel stuff, their caps and rotors are pretty good.

Something has died... it's a given. What colour is the exhaust?

Your car is a candidate for an LS1 conversion. Hell, LS1 and T56, do it right, damnit.

I thought you were suppose to put sea foam in the oil, run it for 10 minutes, then change the oil and filter. I didnt drive the car with the sea foam in the oil if thats what your thinking! Im not that much of an idiot. I don't buy cheap stuff. I use NGK plugs, wires were the Napa Big Blue ones, and they are OEM cap/rotor. I do listen when you talk and I did do some homework!. Exaust looks fine. Can't get a stupid video to upload. I will be back in a few.

I revved it up and it sounds like a rattling can going thru the exaust pipes and out the back. Fuel smell so theres unburned fuel being released. Oil pressure is 60 psi~, I used a Napa Gold Oil Filter. Did not go with that large one. Returned it for OEM. Oil looks fine when I drained it. Will check again. Anything else?

Well, theres really no point in going into detail as it's the same thing each time I post....some "miss" just started. Poured sea foam thru oil and vacum line on car as it had been sitting for quite awhile. New battery, oil change, fuel filter, drained tank/new gas replaced fuel sock/pump awhile back. Ran techron/chevron and premium BP gas. Started it up and it's a damn miss. It is a HORRIBLE and I mean horrible miss. If it's running on SEVEN cylinders, I will be shocked. It feels like a weak 4 cylinder trying to accelerate and the revs jump up but it's not wanting to go. Im thinking bad plugs or wires....Checked everything else out...Will try to post up a sound clip or something later if I can't figure it out...I hate my car sometimes...

Runs great and then all of a sudden, it's crap again.

Vacum leaks, bad plugs, bad wires, bad cap/rotor, coil ect....I know all that.....The cap/rotor are practically new, no vacum leaks, maf is clean and no codes, Everything is great that my eyes can see....Hmm....Also believe I have a leaking exaust manifold gasket as it's making that dreaded exaust ticking sound i have heard before. Shoulda replaced both sides when I found out about that failture.....Ugh...

Anyway, sorry for the long post but am just throwing my thoughts into this post so it's all a big brainstorm of ideas flowing thru my mind and onto the computer screen...

Hmmm....Back to the thinking chair!

Im going to also add, it's not the cats, EGR, air pump, ac system, heating/cooling system or any of that stuff becuase it's all been upgraded and or deleted if possible. The car is hardly driven enough to pollute and I had all the emissions taken out of the chip by pcmforless. Might I add, Alvin is a damn good tuner!

I told the guy what I had and that I wanted the oil filter that would fit my car and for under ten dollars he got me this one. It's a Napa Gold part # 1794 and it says maximum heavy duty protecton. It's like 2.5 times bigger than the stock I would say but he says it will fit and I can return it if it doesn't. Does this look like it will fit my 86 vette? Also, I told the guy I wanted a bigger than stock filter that would fit becuase others do that and he agreed it was a good idea and said it would be the same price.

Comparing it to the old halogen, 4 of these lights go in there each with 15 smd led chips for a total of 60 smd chips!

Can't wait to get them installed and yes I know they are bad pics, I took it from my cellphone. :D

I got my bulbs two days after I ordered and the mailman had me sign for it. Wow, so I was guaranteed my parts. I open the box and I got general electric 882 bulbs and THEY ARE MADE IN THE USA. It was printed twice on the box made in USA.

My old bulbs were cheapos made in China.....Wow, Rockauto.com is AWESOME! Definatley ordering more parts from them.

But yea, I was shocked that they are USA made. Gahh, you hardly see that anymore. Not even AC Delco does that anymore. Made in Mexico but more in China...

Yosi the owner of CorvetteHID is a great guy to work with and has brought some NICE lighting upgrades for the C4 world as well as the other generations. I have almost everything he sells on my car and love it all and just wanted to pass on to you guys if you have ANY lighting needs for LEDs or HIDs check out his site and shoot him an email. Hes honest and the parts are like nothing youve seen before.

Headlights/foglights have good instructions and are plug & Play. Halo taillights for the C4 generation( I just ordered mine) are something only Yosi sells. Other companies make it for the C5+ models.

I hope some of you guys here will browse his parts and maybe make a purchase to bring your C4 up to par.

No, I am not getting anything for saying this. I did this voluntarily because I am so pleased with his parts. I sent him the link of our site and maybe he will join as a regular member.

Have a good day guys& gals.

Bogus, do you think on a well working transmission a GOOD flush by a reputable shop, synthetic ATF, and a well built/installed shift kit would make the trans stronger without rebuilding it? I may be way off on that but for the original posters sake and for my own curiosity, I was wondering if you knew. Didn't want to start a new thread and sorry if I hijacked the thread. It just seems proper maintenance and the shift kit would make it a little stronger? Maybe a after market cooler and deeper pan with cooling fins on the bottom? Just wanting to see other options without a rebuild for the owners on a budget who want the most from a stock transmission.

Is it true once your transmission is shot, that you MUST get a new torque converter? My trans guy told me that because he said it would be impossible to clean ALL the junk out and I risked damaging the new transmission...

Sorry for the long post.

Atleast your not going to be a hardcore monster about the rules. I feel confident I can pm you and let you know my feelings on something without fear of "persecution" for a opinion. Atleast we get to keep our free speech amendment*sp* here.

Not so much at alot of internet places.

P.S. At CF people were apparently getting viruses by visitor messages and/or pms so if you don't know someone or it seems strange, I think it would be a good idea just to delete the pm rather than open it.

Is this the one on the door? ooh... that might be tricky...

Hm... I may have to take a look, but I wonder if that switch isn't rebuildable? What is wrong with it?

Just talked to Chris. Very nice helpful guy. Told him you sent me. He doesnt have it but found a place in NH that says it's in stock. Will try that next.

Thanks!!!
