Did a day trip to Frankenmuth Michigan on Saturday. 10 hours of driving for a 5 hour lunch and shopping day. Makes sense, right? I guess you do what the wife asks.

Wasn't as brutally hot today as earlier in the week. Took a dip in the pool with the kids. We had some nasty t-storms last night, luckily no damage.

Was planning on working on the Corvette today but F that car, that's the mood I'm in. I have a feeling through troubleshooting it's a ground problem and more specifically a burnt connection in the fuse box. I won't know until I disassemble it. But I don't want to...lol. one day this week.

Another hot one here today. Wife took RR#1 to the movies, I think they are seeing the Oppenheimer film. I'm here with RR#2 and we're playing some games and goofing off. Good father / son time. About to go and do some kicking drills for his TKD. He has band practice in a bit and then maybe a dip in the pool is in order.

Waiting on some relays to come in the mail for the Corvette. Hopefully that fixes the fan issue.

It's hot here as well, Gris. Not sure if we can bake any cookies but feels like it.

My buddy texted me last night and said come over to the local car show. Got there and saw his brand new truck, the Ford raptor r. Supercharger with 700 HP. Pretty insane. So was the price tag since they are 50k over sticker. Not joking. Insane to me but he's happy.

Sorry to hear about the storm damage, TB. Unfortunate that the neighbors aren't really stepping up and doing the right thing.

My neighbor also has a tree that overhangs our yard. Had a service out here 2 years ago and they said it's actively dying. I offered to pay 1/2 to cut it down and he declined. Hopefully it doesn't fall on our side if a storm does come through.

Raining now...what a coincidence.

No storms here Gris but we had some menacing clouds.

Took RR#2 in the pool yesterday and gave myself a little sunburn. Nothing terrible, cream seems to be helping out.

Tried to get the center mount exhaust tip put on the Camaro yesterday, no go. Their pipe bender was down at that location and they couldn't do it. I'll try a different shop next week.

Just me and rugrat #2 today. He wanted to go swimming and I thought it would be quick so we jumped in....an hour and a half later it was time to get out. My neck has a little sunburn, guess I should have used sunblock. Oh well.

Corvette is still down. One of the two high speed cooling fans decided to go out. Of course it's an aftermarket spal fan on a Dewitt's set up. I need to pull it out and see if I can get just the fan.

Tommy, I still work out every day but haven't done kettlebells in a while. I pick them up from time to time.

Called my chiropractor today for an appointment and found out the practice was recently sold (no notice) and it's a new doctor. I went in anyway and met the new guy. Older doctor and we got along quite well. Did a pretty thorough exam and an adjustment. I'll be going back for continuing maintenance, just have to remember to call. Life gets in the way. I do feel better, though.

Had a good 4th here, nice little BBQ with the family.

Finished the trans on the mustang the other day only to find out all of the shifting around was the final death sentence for the motor mounts.....ugh. Ordered a new set, hope to get those installed next week.

Headed out tomorrow to the backwoods for a few days off with the family.

Woke up to some pretty bad thunderstorms this morning. Hopefully it clears up, I need to work on the mustang.

Last night the washing machine decided to break mid cycle. Spent some time diagnosing it as a bad pump. Not worth putting a $150 pump in a 9 year old machine so we went to Lowe's and got a new one on sale. It worked out, just a bit of a nuisance.

Back from the Black Hills (unfortunately). Drove 950 miles home last night and got back at 11:30. 2450 miles total in the last week. A lot of driving but absolutely loved it there. We went to Mt Rushmore twice it was so nice. Also hit the badlands twice. Wish I had an extra day or two because we just kept finding more things to do. I highly recommend visiting if you've never done so.

I think next year's trip will be mammoth caves national park in Kentucky. We'll see.

Well it's been an expensive month for me. I was driving last night and must have hit something on the road...popped the sidewall on the wife's tire. They were due for replacement with 43k on them but wasn't on my to do list. So $980 later we are back in business. Just in time for our road trip. I feel more comfortable at least with a long drive ahead of us.

Mustang is coming along. Got the trans out a few days ago and everything pulled off. Did the rear main, pilot bearing, and flywheel last night. Might get the clutch installed tonight but I'll need a hand lining up the transmission input shaft to install it so that will have to wait until we're back.

Man this month is flying by. Been keeping busy with work and the kids.

Finally got a chance to tinker with the mustang. I got it up on the rack last night and got everything underneath disconnected with the transmission bell housing clutch and flywheel pulled off. I have to get a new bearing pressed on today for the input shaft I have to replace the rear main seal and the pilot bearing today and then maybe start putting stuff back together. Of course I found multiple problems with the previous install....no surprise.

Chilly start to the day here, about 55*. Should make it up to the mid 70s.

Last night after work I had to take my MIL to the urgent care ortho dr. She was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk. After the visit it seems she somehow tore her MCL or meniscus or both according to the doctor. Treatment was a cortisone shot along with rest and ice. She called in to work for the rest of the weekend. She was planning on working today but I made sure she got a doctor's note to take off and then she listened.

Took the kids to an outdoor movie last night pit on by the village. Starting raining right as the movie was about to start. We hoped it would be a light sprinkle and we could tough it out but no such luck. Looks like it rained the rest of the evening and we might get a little more today. Cooled things off a bit, too.

Letty, speaking of pools we are still waiting for the pool guy to come replace the liner. He's backed up and has no openings on the schedule. The wall near the skimmer needs to be repaired, as well. Looks like I might be doing it all myself.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes the other day. Went out last night with the family and had a nice casual dinner. It was a good time.

Picked up the Corvette Friday night from the shop. The dyno guy finished it up. He said the original tune was horrible. The timing was way short and it was way over fueled. He did a baseline on his hub dyno which was 440 whp. When he was done it was 530 whp. He also fixed the idle problems, throttle close problems, and it just runs better in general. And man is it fast. The yank SS 3200 is the perfect choice. Drives almost stock until you put your foot into it. I'm very happy with the results. With the setup now it's probably a high 10 second car. Being a convertible it won't see the track but old like to test it out with a dragy one day.

Cool here and raining so no Corvette today.

Weather cooled off a bit, much more enjoyable than 90*. Pool liner still isn't fixed, we're waiting for the guy to fit us in. I'm half tempted to do it myself but I've never done one. It's halfway there already.

I did get the hydraulic cylinder for the four post lift rebuilt over the weekend. It was a bit of a nuisance and a learning curve but it wasn't terribly difficult. I could do it again in about an hour and a half now.

Still eating the Corvette to be tuned. Hopefully this week.

Sorry, I've been off on my own the past few days. TB, glad the procedure went well.

On Saturday I went to my friend's body shop so he could help me with the Camaro rear bumper valance. It was an ebay part that I bought, clearly Chinese made. It needed a lot of work to get it paint worthy but turned out ok in the end. Mounted it to the car and it's not exactly how I want it but close. Hope I can get the metal portion of the exhaust done this week.

Corvette might be done this week as well.

Another beautiful day here. Great convertible weather. Drove the Camaro to mom's house to pick up the mustang. In a twist I've decided to put that up for sale. Neat car just doesn't suit me. I prefer the Camaro much more. So I dropped it off at my friend's shop and he's going to handle it for me.

Gris, sorry to hear about your friends health woes. Hopefully he recovers soon.

Sorry I've been a little busy this week.

Weather was quite warm for a few days and cooled off last night. That's ok, still nice out.

Got the wiring done in the Camaro so the radio and back up camera are finished and functional.

Got news from the shop that the Corvette trans is all buttoned up and he's putting on some test miles before it gets tuned. He's also handling the tires for me. Hopefully back next week some time.

How old are the tires? They can cause problems that mimic drive line issues.

You might need to put the car in the air and run it with the wheels off the ground to isolate the issue.

You can have all of our squirrels, Marcus. They are a nuisance here.

Yesterday was the official water heater install day. When I actually got the opportunity to inspect the unit it was in much worse shape than I thought it would be. 19 years old so no complaints there except my father-in-law not paying attention to things. Yes granted we don't always check our water heaters but still. Dielectric unions were seized so I had to cut those off but that's not a big deal. The worst part was when I went to move the unit it was so corroded that the shut-off valve broke and started spewing water everywhere. I got that cleaned up and got the new unit installed without any further issues. Still a giant pain in the butt. Although it's saved 800 bucks so it's worth it at the end of the day.

Took RR#1 to the DMV yesterday and got her permit. It's official, she can terrorize the road under adult supervision.

Should be a warm day here and clear. It was raining the past few days off and on so I'll take it.

In-law's water heater is well past expiration and needs to be replaced. Guy was there doing some furnace work and mentioned it, gave an obscene quote to replace it. BIL picked up a new one and I'll have to install that in the next day or two. Plumbing work....right TB?

Sometimes I wonder how many people are actually capable of doing their own work in any type of repair or field...plumbing, building, automotive, landscaping, etc. Seems like not as many as there used to be. At least that's how it seems to me. I couldn't imagine how much money it would cost me if I couldn't fix most things myself. Oh well.

Warmed up quite a bit here, was in the 80s today. Expecting some rain overnight. Of course all of the swings are causing havoc on my sinuses. Not feeling all there this evening. Took an allergy pill and hopefully a good night's sleep will fix that.

Happy Tuesday, Gris. Hope everyone had a good start to the week. I noticed that the speakers in the Camaro didn't sound very good. I started inspecting them yesterday and found that they had already been replaced with good quality aftermarket speakers. The problem is that they left the factory amp in place which runs at a different impedance so they sound like crap. Guess I have to rewire everything. I'm not really looking forward to that but it is what it is.

TB, yes hard to believe she's that age. Her birthday is coming up in about a week or so. Then she gets her official permit and watch out on the roadway. School is almost over for both of them. A few more weeks. RR#2 is already checked out mentally. I think he checked out the first week of school but it's official now.
