There still are original chunks of the road in many states. Many places are trying to restore and preserve things related to it. I drove on part of it in NM a couple years ago. In '62 we followed it out to AZ, the year my dad worked on a masters degree at ASU. Sounds like a great trip.

Morning guys...everyone is up and about way before me. It's my last day before things start in earnest on Monday. I'll go in again today to do a few things, but I don't have to, just lightens the load a bit for next week. Up early tomorrow to go to the funeral of my brothers' FIL, it's a 3 hour drive and the funeral is at 10am. Planning on leaving at 6, taking the Corvette, at least that's a plus.

Don, I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors. Marcus I know the feelings you are going through, all of them. Matt, having to spend time in the pool...tough job, but someone had to do it, right? Steve, be careful, those women will eat you alive. Brad that sounds like the bunch I was supposed to play with tomorrow. I not the best golfer, and I was the "A" player. Not sure what they are doing now.

Have a great day.

My first thought was the use of the cordless hammer drill....an electric drill with a GOOD bit is a must. And the age of the concrete is a factor too. slabs around here are typically 6 bag mixes and as said earlier, as concrete ages it gets harder. Concrete doesn't reach it's full strength until it's 60 years old. I'd try a corded hammer drill.

Morning guys....Going to be hot again, but I'll take that, what choice do I have. Thoughts and prayers again, to those with the big C, been through that with my mom, aunts, cousins, etc. As a matter of fact, just got word this morning that my older brothers FIL passed away last night from cancer. Looks like my golf tourney for this Saturday is cancelled as the funeral is Saturday morning.

Marcus, I've been through that many times, just up the road from where you are, as two of my daughters went to Creighton. Don, you can do commercials, to heck with the 'real jobs'.

Make the best of today guys.

I admit......I'm a toolaholic. Mine runs from mechanics tools to woodworking and carpentry. I am "Tom the Toolman" and can relate to Home Improvement.

Ron, sorry to hear about the cancer. Seems we can't get away from it at all anymore. We'll pray for you.

Got a quick break before the next meeting, I'm pretty bored. Catch you later.

Morning guys...I'm at school again and have meetings starting in about 20 minutes, so this will be a quick check in. Sounds like everyone is getting things done, I won't today. These in-service days are basically a waste of time.

I'll check in later. Have a good day.

Hey guys.....I'm at school, updating computers and basically putting in my time.

Tommy, it's good to hear that things are coming together. Don, those little stumble things are unnerving. Matt, I do the same thing. When we cleaned up the basement a year ago, we found canceled checks from when we first got married....36 years ago, STUPID... Marcus, I'll bet the corn is growing high, and with the market as high it is, the farmers are smiling big. Bill, do a little nothing for me today.

Evening guys....it was way hotter today than predicted, 105. Dang I wasn't ready for that. Still 91 at 9:30pm. Played mens night tonight, didn't win but played pretty good.

Morning guys...I'm up and at 'em. Need to get back into the swing of a 'normal' routine. I have in-service on Weds, then go after it for real on Monday.

I have a couple of computers to work on today, so I'll go do that. I'll probably stop by the school and see if there are things that that maintenance crew needs to do before school starts.

Tommy, sounds like Matt gave you some good advice on the painting, I'd bet he's right. Andy sounds like you are making headway.

It's going to be in the upper 90's today, it will be quite a change from what I've been use to the last week, at least it's not 100+.

Talk later.

Having gone from a 94 LT1 to the 01 LS1 there is a lot of difference....and my 94 was a Z07 too.

I think there is a whole series that the Miata's run in...I've seen a race or two on TV (HD Theater, maybe?)

Yup Bill, still a wooden plank bridge. With the wind whipping through there it was swaying pretty good. The little guy was a little unnerved.

Oh the reason I'm tickled with the pickup is it made 22mpg on the trip home today 460 miles 21 gallons.

Evening guys...Well we made it home safe and sound. I'm so tickled with my pickup. We came home a different way, partly because of the road construction, it was about an hour out of the way vs 45 minutes for the detour and we got to see some territory that we don't normally see. Stopped by "The Royal Gorge", as the boys had not been there. For those who don't know about the Royal Gorge, it has the highest suspension bridge in North America, more than a quarter of a mile down to the Arkansas river. The boys were impressed.

Well, it is great to drive your Corvette to work, top off or on. As for the Miata bunch, I'd say most was envy for not owning a Corvette. Same goes for those people who rag on Corvettes that drive those S...... sedans. personally I think the Miata would be a good entry level sports car, something to learn the nuances of the sports car, without the big power of the V8. Then once the skill of handling comes, move up to the power of the V8.

Good morning gurus....I missed most of yesterdays chat, as after playing golf, I was beat. Don't know what it was, fresh air, high altitude, loss of sleep from being on vacation or all of the above, but I was dead and slept like a log.

Don, I glad that your interview went well, good luck with the outcome. Matt, that stinks. guess that's the difference between metro areas and rural areas. T&T night costs $25 and my little brother can get 7-8 passes and quit an hour or more before they close it down. Letty/Don I sure hope that your sleep issues clear up, not being able to sleep wears you down. Tommy keep plugging away, you'll have it mostly done soon. Marcus, can't imagine what it would be.

No rain yesterday here, clouded up like it was going to, but fizzled out. Not much planned here today, no golf as they are having the club tournament. Will go to church this afternoon, so we can get on the road fairly early tomorrow.

I'll try to check in later, you gurus have a great day.

I went on the dragon and it was pretty good. On the way back we did the Cherahola Skyway, not as demanding as the dragon but a very nice drive. The Dragon over-rated? I don't think so, but it is very traveled which might take the fun out of it. We went in the middle of the week and it wasn't terribly busy. Need to know more about this "Devils Staircase".

As far as I am concerned if $1 goes to them it's more than it should. As far as "Bambi" not knowing, I'll bet he does. And I'll bet there are other loop holes in that massive plan going to illegals.

Letty, the rocking seat is a common issue with the C5s. Mine does it a very little bit, but not enough to really be annoying to me. There are several kits on the market for fixing the issue. If it comes to it, I'll probably do the repair myself.....mainly because there is no one any more qualified to do it than me in my area.

Morning guys....Good new abounds, how wonderful. Tommy, you're gaining. Don, your car must be special if it draws that kind of attention...I always knew that it was. Rich, that is great news. Marcus, rain is never bad in these dry times. Matt we are waiting to see some times. Brad, does cool and cloudy beat hot and humid? I'd think that is a nice change.

Friday already, hard to believe this week is almost gone and I have to head back home early Sunday. I'm planning on getting one more round of golf in today. We had a real nice shower last night, too. Even a little hail, pea sized, didn't do any damage to anything. Really cooled things off in a hurry, was 47 here this morning.

Went out to a local brew pub to eat supper. Ordered three appetizers and I ordered a brew. Appetizers were good, beer was OK. Then took the boys to play shuffleboard and mini golf, they have really enjoyed that this week.

Cloudy and cool this afternoon. Went down to the Rec center and sat in the hot tub and in the pool for a while. No golf for me today, I don't want to overload, I've already played as much golf the last two days as I have the last 6 weeks. Planning on playing tomorrow.

Good morning gurus...I'm in day 5 of me not doing much. Sorry to hear about your woes Tommy. I think it has to do with stress. My wife is the same way. Mojo Rich. Marcus, are they starting school, like with kids and all, or is this an in-service day? We don't have any in-service days until next Wednesday. Don, I hope that the interview goes well and that you get the job, if it's the one you want.

I played golf again yesterday, played pretty well. Played with an older gentlemen and his grand nephew. They were both better than I. the nephew (about 15 or 16) could hit the ball a ton (and accurately), no "hand jive" there. The older guy hit the ball straight as an arrow and never got into too much trouble. Turns out the kid is Arkansas Jr. state Champion. Playing with good golfers makes you play better too, I shot 87 on a tough course, I was tickled.

Glad that you made it home, Ron. Sh!t happens out on the road, and I know how your wife feels.

Morning guys....I was tired last night after coming back from the hot springs. The GS's fell asleep right away, while I was checking forum and email. Played golf with a guy from Annapolis (he has a home up here too), great guy. And last night at the springs we meet a family from Minnesota, trying to get away from the heat....Ha ha, I told them it was in the 70's , the father said, "Yea, it happens every time to us".

Tommy keep at it you'll have it done soon. Don, glad you had a nice drive. Actually Corsa says that their systems mellow out. Marcus you knew it was coming.

Thanks guys...we had good day. We played mini golf and shuffleboard this morning with the boys. We went out to eat lunch at a nice place, then I got 18 holes in. On the back nine, it goes right by our condo, I picked up the boys and the wife and they rode along with me as I finished up. the boys thoroughly enjoyed that. This evening, we went to the natural hot springs and sat in a variety of hot spring pools, very relaxing and the boys had a good time too.

Morning guys....It's the wife's and my 36th anniversary. Not much planned for today. Didn't get to play golf yesterday as we spent time with the grandsons, swimming, playing mini-golf, shuffleboard, watching a movie.....it was fun. The hot air balloon didn't go up very close, so the boys didn't get much of an idea as to what is is like. Hopefully today it will be closer.

Don't work too hard Tommy. Brad, glad you got to drive the Vette. Marcus, we all should have invested in those. Bill, enjoy HAN, pictures would be good.

Marcus, learning experiences can sometimes lead to a need to change ones underwear.

Good morning guys....the grandsons were up early, not really, but they don't adjust to the time change. they were up at a little after 6 (MT) where their body clock is telling them it's a little after 7 (CT). The sun coming up over the mountains and shining on the house and condos across the lake makes everything beautiful. The hot air balloon will be going up in a little bit.....Pictures to come.

Tommy, have a great day cleaning up. The progress is looking good. Brad, I hope that haircut isn't too short. Don, I'm glad that things worked out for you. I hope you have the chance to get to run your car one of these days. Jeff, have a great day with your dad.

I'll be golfing this afternoon, but I'll check in after while.

Afternoon guys....Well, after a nice drive and an hour detour, we are here. It was windy and cool at the top of Wolf Creek pass (11000' elevation and continental divide). Internet connection is better than last year. Temps here in Pagosa Springs is in the mid 80's.

The Sunday drive that crash took sounds like a real fine time.

Good Saturday morning gurus....one more day before we head for cooler temps (I hope). Tommy, sounds like you're making headway on the place. Don, have a good time today, and jump in there for the noobie training. Letty, have a safe trip. I need to make that trip again sometime in the near future. Matt, I hope the weathe holds for you today and you don't get wet.

A little more gathering of stuff and packing is on the books for me today. Getting anxious.....

I saw several Corvettes roll through town yesterday. I would guess that they were headed for "Vettes on the Rockies". I would like to go out there again for that. They are saying that the participation in that event has taken a nose dive in the last couple of years.

Good morning guys...We got some rain last night, I don't know how much yet, but every little bit is nice. Don, the movie star. Vacation? We are headed out Sunday to the mountains for a week. Checked the forecast,,,low to mid 80's while we will be there....YES. Brad, we are in hopes that the market recovers today as well, but "I ain't holdin' ma breath". Don you really should take a crack at the auto-X, you know you want to.

I'll be getting stuff together today for our trip to the mountains. Not much else on the plate.

I don't know who owned it before, Andy was involved (I think), but when he took the reins is when I started coming back to visit a bit more often.

Heck I was a member for a long time...before Andy owned it, there just wasn't much going on at that time. I didn't come back until after Andy took the reins.
