Good Morning CGs!

Happy Easter to all.

I was able to break out of the chains last week and we took a family trip for spring break. Loaded up the SUV and took a trip to Washington DC. We left late Friday afternoon and made it to Ohio before we stopped for the night. It was a good way to split up the drive. On Saturday we were able to take a more leisurely pace and include some breaks along the way before we reached the hotel in Virginia. The Hotel was nice, about 30 minutes outside of DC. I got some recommendations on here as to what city to stay in. We ended up in Tyson's Corner. Didn't do anything on Saturday evening except check out the mall and relax a bit. On Sunday we took the train into the city and went and saw some sights, went to see the cherry blossom trees (in bloom and festival time) and went to the Smithsonian American History Museum and Smithsonian Portrait Gallery. Walked around a bit and we were exhausted when we got back to the hotel. Took Jacob swimming and hit the sack. Monday we did the Holocaust Museum. I've been there before but it was 30 years ago. Not a lot of words can describe that place but highly recommended. We tried to get into a few other places but didn't have timed tickets so we walked around a while. Did stop by the National Law Enforcement Memorial before heading back. Tuesday we spent the whole day between Arlington Cemetery and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Virginia (they have two locations). Both great experiences. In he evening we met a friend of mine and his wife for dinner near the hotel. Always nice to do. Wednesday we drove straight home leaving early enough in the morning that we got home at a decent hour, about 7:30 pm.

Overall had a great time and spent good time with the kids.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

According to the detective EBT will only release information in a criminal investigation, not a missing persons case. I got a response from a local news outlet and the reporter is interested in doing a story. Things could get complicated since the homeowner of where he was staying doesn't want his house to be on the news. I'll have to get with the reporter aand see what we can work out.

you are going to the northlands early....we are going in June..... what boat line you on?

Are the police searching for him? If so they could get that info out of the food stamp folks... I suppose he had no cell phone.... Sorry to hear about Sue's med issues....

warmer here today but tied to the desk... but making sales... waiting on 6 sunvisor screws to finish getting those on...had to cut holes in the headliner but the bracket will cover...they had to do that at the factory also I'm thinking. Carb linkage is almost done should be able to start it soon... the dog is getting wore out chasing the FedEx and UPS trucks in and out of the driveway....

better times coming Guru's

Tried dislodging info about EBT card (food stamps) usage on Sonny-boy from the State of Florida to no avail. Privacy statutes. Plan on writing an email to Help Me Howard, a local TV station problem solver, and considering hiring a P I. Daryl is such a private person that lives off the grid so I hate the idea of hiring someone to find someone that leaves no traces. Plenty of stuff need fixing and I'm trying to get to some of it. .... Starting now. Sue's medical issues abound. Trying to get some of them resolved as well. Sue's sousins coming into town next weel to spread her uncles ashes. We'll have company for 4 days. A full house here and at FIL's. Alaska in about 3 weeks. plenty of pre trip prep mfor that as well. No moss growing on me.

SEMI-SUNNY, CALM, 55 ON THE FRONT PORCH WHERE THE BARN CAT IS ASLEEP IN A CHAIR :-| 74 IS THE PREDICTED HIGH TODAY. THAT CAT WON'T STAY ON THE JOB.

GOT JONAH OUT OF THE GARAGE AND A LINE ON A POSSIBLE REPAIR MAN. DRIVING HARVEY AGAIN.

EASTER PLANS HAVE BEEN INVERTED: BABY DAUGHTER AND FAMILY COMING HERE RATHER THAN US GOING THERE. SO MUCH FOR THE HIGH CHURCH EASTER SERVICE.

AGENDA TODAY: GET CAT FOOD---THINK I CAN MANAGE THAT.

TIME TO FEED THE POOR STARVING DOG.

Add a vote from me for fried tree rat. That with biscuits, fried taters and gravy make for a good meal.
Sunny here today and a bit warmer, really nice for tomorrow. I have to agree with what Andy said yesterday about electrics. I'd like to see electric blowers especially from the jacka$$ behind me who thinks his blow is an extension of his weiner and he can't leave it alone. It sets off my decibel alarm on my watch it's so loud. Everyone four houses around me are sick of hearing it all the time. He has a lawn business so there ya go. Been a very busy day today and I might end up in here tomorrow on my day off for some cash. I have plenty of work going on, and apparently, a lot of it is thanks to a design/wrap dude across town named Barry. I have had no less than 5 people come to me because they are pissed off at him, no work, bad work, you name it. And, fingers crossed and I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but I had the director of transportation in my office yesterday, so I'm working on that. I was invited to a concert the mayor gave a friend tickets for, I sat by the mayor, was nice and then was introduced to the transportation director and told him I needed to be wrapping his busses since I used to anyway. (before my time but still). He was here an hour yesterday and seemed pleased when he left and I offered to sit with his new "marketing lady" and visit with her also and told him he would need more than one - it would be nice if he'd offer me a job.

NO, IT TASTES LIKE SQUIRREL :-)

YOUNG ONES ARE GOOD FRIED. OLDER ONES ARE TOUGH, MAKE GREAT STEW OR GUMBO.

I LEARNED SQUIRREL HUNTING AT AN EARLY AGE FROM A CHICKASAW WHO WORKED WITH MY DAD. WE GO OUT AT DAYLIGHT, SHOOT A FEW, AND HIS WIFE WOULD FRY THEM UP AND MAKE BISCUITS AND GRAVY. HARD TO BEAT!

Morning guys... up and around this morning. Headed back over to the church to finish up the window trim on the north side. Can't do the south side yet as the glass guys haven't installed the thermo-panes on that side of the building. But trying to get as much done as possible for the Easter service. That should make the parishioners happy to see some progress.

Not too bad this morning, 34 now and headed to the mid 7-s. Thia afternoon we will go over to the 'city' to watch Leo run at his track meet. Being a college runner now we can't justify going to most of his meets as they are hours and hours away. This is the only one we'll be able to make and the only home meet they host.

Better get around and get going.

Hey guys, up early and off to the 'city' to see our new dentist. No work, just a recon mission to see what needs to be done... Luckily, just cleanings for now.

Back home and off to install the stained glass panels at church. and got a few pieces of trim, I'll go back tomorrow to finish up the trim on the north side windows.

It was downright cold when we headed over to the 'city' (19) but warmed into the upper 50s. Tomorrow upper 60s and then a string of 70 degree days ahead.

There is nothing like a nice electric riding lawnmower at only 2 1/2 times the price of a gas one. Such a deal. We do have an electric/ battery powered weed eater though.

Went to help Sue for an hour at the nursery this morning. Turned into 6 hours. Go figure.

speaking of which I'm working on sustainable or regenerative farming practices for our Potato growers who sell to Frito-Lay or their parent company Pepsico......

innovation is coming in Ag but we have to have real solutions not the we have to go back to horse drawn equip and manure to feed the world.... the old adage it takes energy to make energy is true and that was the beauty of Nuclear power that was to be running all our electricity needs now and in the future...... where did that go?

It takes decades to change farming practices and the invention of new power sources like the synth fuels...

sun is out and warmer weather on the way..... yay...

I feel your pain... the electric car is a neat idea, but the infrastructure isn't ready for it.

I feel the system should be going after 2-stroke lawncare equipment... weed eaters, blowers, even chainsaws and such. For the average home owner, the new battery stuff is up to the job. And might even work for the average gardener.

This leaves gas stuff for tree trimmers and those that REALLY need it. I would not cry to lose that stench when the gardeners are using their blowers and weed eaters.

In due time, lawn mowers can be targeted. There is even enough tech there to make that viable.

At the same time, leave my gas appliances alone.

In short, our grid cannot support all of this electrification. Thanks to WWII, much of Western Europe and Japan are much more modern and can handle the loads.

Here in SoCal, we have supply issues when this stuff would be needed the most. 4PM to 9PM are the peak hours of electric consumption. Add in all the newly ordained electric ranges, dryers and heaters, that peak consumption is now a year round problem and not just a peak summer problem.

Charging cars over night is logical... but that is with the current volume. It has fail written all over it.

Also, battery recycling is a mess...

Lets toss in another tech. Synthetic gas. Aramco, Shell and others are using carbon from the atmosphere and trash, plus hydrogen from various sources, to create gasoline. It does work but it is still expensive. About $40 a litre right now. But, think of it this way... it creates a carbon negative footprint. To provide enough gas, it would require an inventory, say, 90-days. That, on a global level, would be a lot of free carbon that is currently in the air, to be stored in liquid form and then recycled into gas again. A closed loop, so to speak. The impact could be nuts.

Now, if only politicians, environmentalists and corporations and come together and create a rational solution and stop this all or nothing crap, we might get some progress.

Good afternoon, glad you have the car back, Gris. Sunny here but cold, frost warning tomorrow. Sick to death of winter. Spring used to be March - May now we might have winter in July, spring in winter. Never know anymore. Got a box truck proofed and approved, which puts him ahead in line of two others. They should be answering my emails then.

Brought to the Suburban to the shop this morning to get the humming noise in the fan box fixed. An hour later the mechanic and his wife dropped it off at the nursery. That was nice of them. Went shpping this morning too. Onward. Chores and tasks await.

Good evening, raining pitchforks and puppydogs here, was gusts up to 50mph earlier. Trashcan is still standing out by the curb so I'll call that a win. Dude's across the street blew over. Slept in a bit today then got up and planted 8 bushes, 1 tree, moved an azalea, moved a lilac I'd planted in the wrong spot, leveled the dirt, am wore out. Then got a whole jam packed basket full of tree worms out of one of the skimmers, the pool was bubbling. Shut it off at the breaker for now, will restart it all tomorrow night. Itll have to be drained anwyay with all the rain we're getting tonight. Then, I've been inside cleaning kitchen putting up dishes, washing more dishes, making dinner, washing laundry, putting up laundry and it's only 7pm. That's about how my whole weekend has been except for Saturday. ZZTop and Lynyrd concert was awesome, wished I'd spent the extra 20$ on closer seats but 18th row wasn't bad. Southaven has their stuff together on traffic flow. Easy in, easy out and home about an hour earlier than I figured we'd be. Much nicer than Memphis. Time for me a protein shake followed by a drink.

I've had many electric cars over the years. Ones with AA AAA C and D batteries.

Family members departed yesterday. Trying to return to normal. The Suburban is home. Going back tomorrow to the shop because when they changed the inside cabin filter some crap must have fallen into the blower housing. Makes a humming noise on high speed. I was going to fix it myself but can't get the damned sockets into the bottom cover back footwell holes to take it off. I'm sure the shop has the right tools for the job. The angle of the floor prevents me from getting good access. Even using a swivel socket extension. Nice start to the day temp wise. Rather warm in the mid day. No rain to speak of.

Morning guys, woke up to snow and blowing and 22 degrees. Yesterday, low 70s and there was a tornado a few miles east of us, today, near blizzard conditions. Welcome to Kansas.

I'm busy in the shop cleaning up. Still have some things to do at the church and may try to get started on those things. I've got cabinet materials coming this week for another job, so I've got plenty to do.

...and don't forget they are useless when it gets real cold out....I mean like 5 to 10 degrees or less.... nothing wants to work on them...batteries won't charge and I hear they hardy want to run..... I mean I don't either but you can jump in the ICE car and go all day.....

yesterday I had to run to Speedway in the Star City for some parts....while there I stopped by the kids house where my wife was making curtains and painting a wall..... I took over the painting and was there until around 3 then back home and then my friend across the section called and needed help putting his 99 Suburban 6.5 turbo diesel engine back together... had a valve broke and decided to take both heads off to redo the top end... about 250K miles on it got home about 8:30 last night and was wore out....

Rainy and damp and in the mid 40's today.... got my own work in the shop getting the new carb sorted out on the Dodge...

watch your 6 Guru's

Morning guys, chilly, cloudy and windy here. Temperatures not too bad actually, but the wind makes it feel cool.

Been busy lately.

I wonder the same thing Gris, by that picture, it appears that that particular EV is offsetting all of its' zero emissions claims.

Got the Suburban back. Whole bunch of new parts plus the engine and transmission. Labor plus the motor and transmission covered for 3 years, 100,000 miles. We should be good to go for awhile on that one. Family in town so there will be some eating out to do.

got the trunk done in the 64 and the new cover in it... looks good I think. took about 300 bucks worth of Dynamat to cover the vastness of it... it should help with road noise and make the kick ass stereo sound better whenever I get that in.... next is to finish getting the bench seat back in place is is fighting me every inch of the way... you can't hardly get to the bolts that bolt the seat to the the floor mounted seat brackets..... I suppose the seat should have been mounted to the brackets first and the whole thing put on and bolted to the floor...... hmmmmmm.....

cold cloudy and windy here today.... good shop day... the new carb is next....

have at it Guru's

CLOUDY, WET, 52 ON THE FRONT PORCH. THEY SAY IT WILL CLEAR OFF, BUT THEY DON'T SAY WHEN. GOT A MINUSCULE AMOUNT OF RAIN OVER NIGHT. 68 FOR THE HIGH, THEY SAY.

NICE VISIT WITH THE NEWEST GENERATION AND THEIR PARENTS. #2 GREAT-GRANDSON IS CRAWLING, ON THE VERGE OF STANDING UP, CALM AND SELF CONTAINED EXCEPT WHEN HE FALLS DOWN STEPS AND BUMPS HEAD. #1 DISGRACED HIMSELF WITH AN EXTENDED TEMPER-TANTRUM THAT HIS PARENTS APPARENTLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT. GREAT GRANDPA KNOWS BUT DID NOT OFFER UNASKED FOR ADVISE.

GRANDSON AND HIS BUDDIES ARE CONSPIRING TO COOK A WHOLE HOG FOR A COMPANY PICNIC. THE WARRIOR PRINCESS IS FED UP WITH HER UNDISCIPLINED SCHOOL CHILDREN. HER NATIONAL GUARD COMMITMENT IS UP IN OCTOBER. HOPE THE IDIOTS IN DC DON'T GET US IN A WAR BEFORE THEN :-|

NOTHING ON TAP, THE OTHER ANIMALS AND ME ARE FED, CAT PETTED, IF IT DOES CLEAR OFF I MAY GO LOOK AT THE PROGRESS ON THE JONAH CAR, IF NOT A SECOND NAP MAY BE IN ORDER.

ENDURE, GURUS.

Been nice outside here today, been nice and quiet inside here today, am grateful. Ready to go home though. Got my tickets for that ZZ Top concert, ours here will be in Southaven, MS Saturday night, ended up with 18th row floor. That's about all the money I intended to spend on it. Not sure if Arron ordered our back patio lumber or not, will find that out tonight. Speaking of taxes, we visit with our tax lady tomorrow after work, and I have got NONE of my crap gathered. Just haven't. Crunch time. I need a new maid outfit too, one that fits somebody besides me - I need to hire out some help. Also, the yard, I just need help getting back on top of things, need to find me one of those non-English speaking individuals that understands yard work = cash. They're faster and better at it than the locals.
