I saw a bad ass Fiero a few years back...

Resized Image

It's called the IMSA Fiero. It's cool. It was white and yellow... the body kit was the same as in this photo, but this one was most certianly set up for racing. the one I saw was a pure street car with, I assume, a TPI of some sort - there was a TPI logo on the fender.

It had a wide body, deep rims... real nice...

The Northstar conversion is brilliant... 300hp DOHC V8, a fairly good A4, in a drive package that fits where the V6 did without adding a lot of weight.

That's

A friend of mine has 2 Fiero's just sitting around gathering dust and leaves....maybe I'll....nah......too many toys now.....

Shadow,
Did you ever move a thread on Corvette Florida where the members couldn't see it?

Shadow,

Have you ever moved a thread out of the reach of the public on your Corvette Florida?

Last edited by DropTopCE on 2008-02-25, 18:32:02; edited 1 time in total

Sorry DT, didn't see your first question, and to answer it, yes, I have

...and if it's the one I think you're talking about;) ...I put it back;)

...and I sent a PM to the person that caused the short lived removal, and , there was no editing It went back on the public forum "as is."

Fortunately, due to the nature of our CorvetteFlorida.com forum there's not a lot of adversity We're a pretty close knit bunch who actually hang out at shows and such together. As a matter of fact, there was a group of our guys and gals that did well at the Punta Gorda show on saturday

Even then, as with any "family", you're going to occasionally have dissention It's just a fact of life.

We dont' do a lot of bannings, we DON"T EDIT, and seldom remove or lock a thread other than SPAM or PORN.

There have been a few, but mostly stuff that I wouild expect other mods to lock or delete as well....things that have gotten out of hand, or become personally threatening. We had some kid come on right after the site got started, took a little flak for something he said, and started threatening our members

Say bye bye Even his dumb arse got a PM from me. I started to call his daddy as well (yes, he was a punk kid) and let him know what his motormouth kid was up to but decided it wasn't worth the time and effort.

I'm not saying that a thread shouldn't be locked, deleted or moved. I'm saying it shouldn't be EDITED and if so, with rareity, and that people deserve a reason for some things. Not a "justification" (if you are a mod/admin, it's ultimately your decision), but a notification that it's been done and a warning if appropriate

I fill up my work truck almost daily. Approx. $70.00 each time!

If it were not for the places I sometimes end up, I'd pick up one of those ugly assed econo boxes that get a gazillion MPG!

I don't care what it looks like or how slow it is or that I couldn't give it away in 15000 miles....just that I can drive all week ona tank!

I take the vette if I'm going long distance and pretty much know that I'll be on solid ground. Gets 27+ on the highway

I deleted one, cause it was what i deemed to be inapropriate. And it was. I wont apollogise for it, cause i was not in the wrong.

Everyones entitled to thier opinion.. .

Apparently i was the one that deleted the 2nd one, and yet i still saw a third version of it repeated again. Id have to think alarm bells wouldve been ringing when you saw the 2nd one deleted, so i really think you had a very fair go.

Case, maybe those alarms sound both ways mate?
If there's that many posts/threads on a given subject, then it's obviously an issue near and dear to many peoples heart. Are we going to start deleting, editing (God forbid) and censoring just becasue it offends a mod or 1-2 people? Thats "over there" all over again

Quote:
I didnt have time to scratch my arse let alone sent someone a PM to state the obvious. If you have to repost a thread twice, wouldnt you think maybe a 3rd time might be pushing your luck abit?

If you're that busy, maybe you're too busy? Take some time...chill out...get away from the computer for a while...life's too short bro
IMO, there was nothing glaringly obvious about what happened. The psot wasn't doing any harm and quite possibly the tread starter reposted thinking there was a system glitch? It's not like this site hasn't had it's issues in the past. Thats why I never returned after my 1st log in...site problems. BTW...admins...great job of fixing those issues

Quote:
The one i deleted was brought to my attention by another forum member through email. They told me its affecting their presence here, a couple others have also said the same to me in the past week or so, so youll never know just how many others come along and read those beat up threads and decide they dont really want to get involved in a forum that has every second thread related to the Corvette Forum and how it's run.

Here's a suggestion! Instead of deleting the danged thread, how about MERGING THEM into one and let ALL the CF pissing and whining go there? it solves several problems at once. Gives the people who need/want to vent a place to do so, and give those too tender to be bothered with such foolishness, the ability to NOT LOOK AT IT :evil4:
I agree that I don't want to read every other post about CF, but I don't mind having one condensed thread on them;)

Creative problem solving 101 bro

Quote:
Im sure you may feel violated by the fact we removed your material (which we obviously both deemed to be inapropriate) and by the posts made on the other forum (not that id know what was said, all i saw was the post you linked to and there was nothing wrong with what i read there.)

HUH???

Quote:
There are two ways you can take all this, you can run and cry in the corner, or you can be a man and get on with life, and accept the fact that they are arseholes that NO ONE is forcing you to deal with. Simply cause 2 of us here deemed something inapropriate for the forum and removed it does not make us a pack of arseholes, and it does not make us like them, i was simply acting in what i believe to be the best interest of the forum and the members that make it (and i will continue to do so). Im quite sure Brut was doing the same
.

That 1st comment is arrogant Case
Overall, I like and agree with the way this forum is operated. Not that you guys give a S**t about what I think, but for the record.

But the way things were done this time, smacks of the old place, and the way things were done there

As far as the e-mails, hey. I'd have to say to them...grow up. If you don't like the thread, find another one or start one of your own;) But to start deleting to appease a few??? from what I read, no one wants that...

So...why not go back into your archived, locked threads, and open up a NEW THREAD for those that want it and merge everything in there?

Wills, Robert, Irish Mac or any of the other keyboard badasses, have the right and ability to log in or just view the boards here. I'm not hiding from any of them!

I only changed my SN to let the "knight" die in peace

I agree with you about the notification Thats what I do on the sites I moderate. It might not change things, and I won't argure with them, but at least I'm man enough to tell them what I did and that I did it

It's a lot more than I can say for those others.

Hopefully, you guys will not be this way and the site will flourish

Shadow, I agree with you and I apologize that I did not get it done. But as said, I had to leave for an emergency and by the time I got back, it was time for me to go home and it just slipped my mind until I got back on later in the day.

I have already stated to the other mods that we should be diligent in notifying the members if their threads are moved/removed.

Like you said, lets just move on and be done with it

Works for me bro

After much consideration on having two posts removed with no PM or email from a moderator, I will say this is turning into the CF.

I think I am done.

Although I agree with Andy, and am guilty of the same thing toward a couple of mods and one admin in particular "over there", I think it should be expected that the person making the deletion, edit (edits should NEVER be done IMO), ban or lock, have the common courtesy to notify the author. This was and is one of my biggest complaints on Brand X.

If you have the time and the juevos to edit, lock, delete of ban, you have the time to provide a brief explanation to the author or at least tell them that it was done, and who did it.

Jeff seeing his post(s) MIA with no explanation will as we saw here, inevitably result in the feelings and "dejavu" that he experienced.

As Andy said though, lets move forward in a more professional vein than brand X

This is my opinion only but I really believe that the name alone will keep other generations away. If one were to get C5guru, C6guru, C3guru etc and combine or redirect them all here then perhaps that might work.
As for Jim W. AKA Savewave, I've met him and his wife and had the chance to have dinner and cruise with them on several occasions. My wife and I enjoyed their company. I consider them to be friends and good people. I may disagree with the direction the CF is heading or other things pertaining to the CF but that doesnt mean I harbour any ill will towards him.

I know things are in the works here to expand. I have other national sites I visit for other information and come here for the comaraderie and C4 information. If it grows and catches on, I'll be here to help

As for Jim...no thank you!

I've never met him personally and at this point, I'm not sure I want to? I've been told the same thing you mention by a couple others over there, but they are admins and mods and have reason to be biased.

I've provided him with my cell number and asked that he call to discuss forum matters and he has yet to this day, had the sack to dial the f**kin' number!

Maybe it's the personal interaction that he fears? Maybe it;s just that inherrent chicken chit journalistic nature of hitting and running that he can't relieve himself of? Whatever it is, I don't care for it.

I've always lived a life where you didn't assume or expect admiration or respect, you earned it. So far, he hasn't earned mine.

I know I'm not high on his list of great people either. Doesn't bother me a bit. I'm not a leghumper and never will be!

The doors still open but I doubt he has what it takes to walk through it;)

I have had "internet" conversations with him and found that if you don't cowtow to his way of thinking or are not willing to change the way you think, you're going to get absolutely nowhere with him! You HAVE to agree with him or there is NO 2 WAY COMMUNICATION. In my opinion, he's a typical journalist :sad3:

He's up to his ass (or up thiers) in Internet Brand and it pours out in his posts and responses. He refuses (or is incapable) of seeing the forrest for the trees and ignored most if not all the comments, complaints and suggestions stated by the senior members in the steering committee. That section was truly more of a "my way or the highway" and his threats are childish and irresponsible.
He blew most of the complaints off as sour grapes.

He has a limited ability to see the total picture, again, very much a journalist approach.

It's one thing to support your moderators; however, when you have numerous complaints and can SEE the post count dwindling and quality moving away, and STILL refuse to take the appropriate action then there's a problem. It's as though he's buried his head in the sand (being nice) and is waiting for it all to go away????

If I ever have the opportunity to meet him face to face, we can discuss a resolution at that time. Jesse (Cor07vette) and I didn't get along for chit when we were first introduced on the forum. I thought he was a complete ass and the feeling I'm sure was mutual

Today, he's one of my best friends and a very close confidant. Of all the admins and mods over there (currently) he's the one I have most respect for. I don't always agree with his comments or actions, but who does? But I respect the fact the he has the balls to pick up a phone or meet you face to face if the opportunity arises

He's an ex-police chief and FBI National Academy graduate.

It's been said that there are those that MAKE things happen, those that WATCH things happen, and those that WONDER what happened? He' as with server of us, is in the 1st category He doesn't just write about chit, he's lived it....and much much more that I won't get into here

IMO, unless his and attitudes like his change soon, that forum won't be worth taking the time to log into

Oh, and I don't give a damned if he sees this or not! The phone number is still the same

Frank, you've always IMO, been one of the few level headed and resonable mods over there. You've dinged one or 2 of my posts over there before and always had the courtesy not to belittle me and on one occasion, even sent me a pm

These clowns they have now have no interperson skills. Wanna be badasses, nobody's with a bat...on a power trip...get my drift?

Certain of them (you know who I mean I suspect) have thoroughly dissapointed me. It's a shame because thier power tripping and leg humping, has cost them what was once true friends

From what I've seen, the "brain trust" of the C1,2 & 3's went mainly to the valley.

Not much if anything there in the C4 genre

A lot of the C5/6er's did as well.

A ton of the OT types went to DC. Hated to see that, but most will fit right in

Many of the Florida vette owners came over to our CorvetteFlorida site for local activities and such.

And most of the C4's came here

Just my observations

I occasionally get asked why Im not going to Bowling Green. most recent was from a member who a few weeks back took his 62 roadster to a track day that was rented my forum members- showed up with no top in 42 degree weather after a 2 hr drive. Nobody would acknowledge the guy at the track or in the track thread, either. So typical.

So, the idea of, driving 3000 miles to watch a bunch of snobby dorks jerk each other off and suck the mods' dick ? Got better things to do with my time.

Love the car, cant stand the crowd, seriously.

Never been much of a follower.

As I mentioned, I can't see the thread, but I think I understand the gest of the problem. The snobs are running the show

I drive what I like and like what I drive. If I were to get a C6, I'd get the base and mod it with the fenders/body kit. That would set the purist on thier ear but I don't care. I don't care how much power it makes, if I can't remove the damnend roof, I don't want it!

Tommy said it best...feck 'em

As the LSx swap becomes more popular, many shops are now starting to make adapter plates and motor mounts to ease the application.

I read about one recently but can't find the info

I think you can probably find the answers with Google

So there is no way legal action could be taken against the Guru forum for allowing that type of conversation? As of this moment, I believe we're all intelligent folks, but growth brings all types of challenges.

I just don't want to see this site taken out for something silly.

Legal action can be taken against anyone at anytime for any reason, whethere there's a wrongdoing or not, that's what lawyers do.

But as long as the forum isn't condoning people arranging street racing events on here, I don't see an issue. It isn't Bogus' job to tell you to eat your vitamins, obey traffic laws, and listen to your mother.

CC, lets not paint everybody with such a wide brush

Sure there are the ambulance chasers and such, but there are just as many that will tell you straight up, you don't have a chance in hell of winning! Penalties imposed by many states and bar associations against attorneys for filing frivolous lawsuits have also done quite a bit to limit them

It's my understanding based upon some conversations with legal types, that as long as you don't promote the races, aid in organizing them nor do you EDIT the post (which essentially makes you complicit and a co-conspirator), you are pretty well covered as a web site.

Brand X simply chooses to go overboard, taking a holier than though approach to the problem, and burying thier respective heads in the sand about it.

1st, I hate politics and despise politicians!

That said, regardless of what other countries think, for the time being we're still the most powerful nation in the world.

I could give a rats butt less that they think. Let them disrespect our choice for president, be it male, female, black, white or fukkin' purple! and see what that gets them?

Nothing! NADA! ZIP! ZILCH!

Muslim countries want to do it themselves? Please, feel free...I'd just as soon pull our troops out of that wasteland and bolster our internal security and borders. They want to kill each other...be my guest

You need economic help? Sure.....Lets see what happens when the M.E. can't dump thier oil? They can't eat or drink it and can't build on it....

So please, look somewhere else...maybe someplace with a white aglo-saxon protestant president

I think I've used 1-800 some crap or another, once or twice, but I prefer to use a local florist. I've bought so much from them that I have a working relationship with them now and just pick up the phone

These 800 clubs rip off both the consumer and the florist

AS for you problem, there's still several remedies.

1) BBB
2) Written complaint to the corporate head of 1-800-flowers (need the info let me know?)
3) Dispute the charge with your bank
4) A small claims suit

The latter are usually cheap to file, I think you have a pretty defensible position, and you can usually get the courts to award costs as well as actual damages in the settlement

If nothing else, you can rattle thier cages for a while and maybe make a couple of heads roll. Corporate HATES law suits

Very bad, very very bad. No matter what forum its at, its a crying shame that Corvette owners have to bash other generations. I can take some heat about my C4 because I know and understand that its not the most desirable generation, but some of that dialog went overboard. A lot of it was personal and not even about the car itself.

All I have got to say is mine is paid for and I don't have $600 month payment. Funny thing is, most of these people probably owned a C4 when they were new and thought the same thing about the C3s. As long as they have the newest and best ride out there, everything else is obsolete.

Since I'm banned (again) I can't see the post. But from your descriptives, I can imaging what's happened.

Quote:
I don't have $600 month payment.

A buddy of mine has payments in the $1200.00/month range on his jet stream blue Z06! But he's single, house is paid for and his retirrement in set up, so I can't blame him

Some of these knuckleheads have no sense though and would put themselves in the poor house to have the latest and greatest. Doens't make sense to me?

I love the new Z but the stock C6 is vanilla boring to me

Most of the folks I hang with won't snub the C4. People on the forums that do...oh well, childish mentality at best

Welcome aboard

I was a long time member and lifetime supporter...since I was banned and apparently for no reason (since no one had the balls to pm me;) ), I feel I'm being "deprived" of my rights under the purchase.

Gotta a little somethin' somethin' in the works

This ought to get good

You made a good choice (and obviously and educated decision ).

Brand X has become overrun with rookies babbling mindless post and unfortunately, senior members that pamper them

Same here sort of.

Got banned by Savewave (Jim) and then reinstated. Swore I was through with that damned place. Then someone linked something back over there

Placed myself in the "invisible" mode (to keep from showing up on the active users list publically, and just read chit.

One day I coulnd't help it and posted (after about a month or so). Posted maybe a dozen times since and in one thread in OT (what a useless group of humanity).

I think the CC thread did me in (again)

WTF cares?

I'm just as happy here

I was wondering the same thing, how the hell do you get banned over there? Seems pretty wide open, you musta been REAL bad.

I've noticed on here, if I just hit my back tab it doesn't go right back to the forum you were in, anyone else see this happen?

Easy

I'm thinking my response in that thread is what got me banned...again

I have to guess since all it says is:

Service Denied and lift date is NEVER
No reason, no e-mail, nada!

I'd love to meet the gutless bastard face to face one day so I could tell him/her what I really think of them and see what they're really made of!

At least have the balls to say WHY you're banning someone. Cowards!

same here... their theory? It competes with their "approved" vendors. I call it protectionism.

It's much like watching these TV shows that fix up cars, and they have product placements... sometimes blatently.

Last time I looked, IB had links to e-bay, granted I haven't paid much attenion to it anymore.

I suggest you have everything up and running, cards and cling style vinyl decals in hand, in time for cruise in

I've never been to cruise in, but I might have to make an exception for this just to the CF crowd

Also check around the pedal assy. for bare or crimped wires. I had that happen once in another car. Somehow, a wire fell down and was crimped in the brake pedal assy. SHorted that mother out every time I depressed the pedal

I'm with you on the Targa Top

If they were not such a Pain in the ass to remove, I'd take mine off more frequently! I'd like to kick the knucklehead that designed this abortion of a latching system, right in the nuts!!

Anyway, the FRC and Zo6 however, would certainly appeal to me from an asthetics point of view.

When I buy a car, I buy it because I like it. I throw $$ at my C4, because I like the styling. The performace sucks compared to the newer models, but there's a fix for that The ride compared to the newer models? We'll, it'll probably never be "as good" but then again, it's a sports car and dammit! I want it to ride and handle like a sports car If I want a cushy ride, I'll buy a Cadi

It really tickles the hell out of me when some of these guys go out and spend 70+k on a "car" thinking it's an "investment", then, when the next newest and greatest appears onth e market they

I just can't do the keepin' up with the Jones thing. Not my style. Besides, I like being different.

I saw a lot of the Z owners doing that with the C5 model run. Wouldn't drive them or limited thier driving enjoyment to keep the mileage down, now look at whats happening

Buy what you want, drive when you want and enjoy what you drive

I've been around. Posted in a few threads, just been busier than a a 1 armed paper hanger Guess thats a good problem to have?

I've googles and searched but can't find a link to the body kit or MMS to save my life.

I found a pic of the front end I'm talking about at another motorsports site, but it's on a car for sale.

Im pretty sure all the samke skinner molds burned up in a fire years ago...Jeffvette could tell you more about that, hes the local Z expert.
most their parts were extrememly light weight..Guy I bought my Z from has an orignal Snakeskinner rear bumper, weights next to nothing, just never had the extra coin.

well, that figures! YEp, the parts were very light weight but they look sweet and really change the look of the older C4's.

Guess I'm gonna have to find someone whose good with molding glass or CF and make my own!

If anyone runs up on some info, PLEASE fill me in.

Thanks

This was a front bumper and made by Morrison Motorsports several years ago.

Anyone know how to locate them or who if anyone still has the mold(s)?

Never mind my origianl question. I saw who the mod is....figures

BTW, it is a nice flyer. We have one for our state forum as well that we hand out at various shows and events. It's a nice way to let people know you're around

The only reason I'm not on board with it is the fact that it's CorvetteForum...plain and simple.

Pissed with the mods and admins actions and attitudes and refuse to support it! I won't do anything to damn it over there, but I won't have anything to do with it either.

$hit Frank, the "forum" has been the focal point of the cruise in's for years. Even though the museum actually hosts and sponsors it, it's allways been billed as the CF cruisein.

Andy, if you're planning on "hosting" anything, you need to look into event insurance. Otherwise, if anything goes seriously wrong, you'll be pimpin' a Hyundai when it's over
