Good luck with whatever you decide. But you can always find someone to buy a $4500 running vette. IMHO.

Really?

I've been trying to sell my 87 for a while now. Seems most people want a pristine piece at a driver's price????

Have it a $4500.00 OBO and it runs like a bat outta hell and doesn't look bad either.

Has been extremely dependable too.

yet, No buyers

Car Year: 1997

E-Mail: Private
Videos: Mark-VIII Videos

Quote:
The Mark VIII was a large luxurious GT coupe from Lincoln, sold between 1993 and 1998. The Mark VIII was assembled at Ford's Wixom, Michigan assembly plant and was based on the FN10 platform. The Mark VIII was available in two models: the standard Mark VIII and the LSC. The 1995 LSC model received a powertrain calibrated for an additional 10 hp (7.5 kW), with true dual exhaust systems, and lower (3.27) gearing for better acceleration. The LSC also featured unique body colors, distinct LSC badging on the trunk, and perforated leather seat inserts, along with LSC scripted floormats. The bright chrome inserts normally found in the body-side moulding and bumper on the Mark VIII were replaced with monochrome body color inserts on the LSC. The 4.6L 32-valve DOHC V8 engine was an all-aluminum variation on Ford's Modular engine, in all model years. Starting with model year 1995 the engine was given the marketing name InTech. The late-1995 and 1996 LSC models were the first cars from any automaker to be equipped with Direct Current HID headlights. All other manufacturers that offered HID headlights at the time used an Alternating Current HID system.

[edit] Facelift (1997-1998)
In 1997, the Lincoln Mark VIII received a significant facelift, with a smoother, more rounded front and rear facia, and a larger grille. HID headlamps became standard, placed in larger housings. Lincoln incorporated an innovative neon brake light across the entire rear decklid. The side mirrors came with "Puddle Lamps". The lamps cast a glow on the ground when the doors were opened, so the driver and passengers could see when entering or exiting the car. The side view mirror housings also incorporated flashing LED turn signal lamps to warn other drivers of an intended lane change/turn. The interior included "Theater Lighting", which softly illuminated the driver's controls and handles. The exterior had a more rounded "Power Dome" on the hood, and the trunk had less definition to the famous "spare tire hump" associated with the previous Mark series. The grille was bigger and bolder. Optional 16" chrome "Octastar" wheels looked like solid chrome, yet were very light. The DOHC 32-valve 4.6L V8, rated at 280 hp (210 kW), came with a distributorless coil-on-plug ignition system, eliminating the use of high voltage spark plug wires. Some of the transmission internal parts were reinforced in the late 1997 models and all 1998 models. LSC models had firmer shocks and larger anti-roll stabilizer bars, for better handling and control, a lower gear ratio and true dual exhaust giving a 10 hp (7.5 kW) boost taking it to 290 hp (220 kW). All-speed traction control was standard, and could be deactivated via the onboard systems status computer when desired.Towards the end of Mark VIII production, Lincoln offered 2 personalized "specialty" models: the Spring Feature and the Collector's Edition. The era of large American personal luxury coupes neared an end in the late 1990's, and the Mark VIII was retired during the 1998 model year. It was replaced with the Lincoln LS personal luxury sedan. In 2003-2004, Lincoln showed some concept coupes based on the 2002-2005 Ford Thunderbird, including the Lincoln MK9 and Lincoln Mark X, but these never saw production, as the Thunderbird was cancelled after a 4-year run.

The Lincoln "Mark" line continues (in name) across the current product line. The Lincoln Mark LT luxury pickup truck was introduced in early 2005 as a 2006 model. Lincoln introduced a new crossover utility vehicle, dubbed the Lincoln MKX (pronounced "Em-Kay-Ex"), and renamed the Lincoln Zephyr as the Lincoln MKZ ("Em-Kay-Zee") for the 2007 model year. For 2009, a new flagship sedan based on the Lincoln MKS ("Em-Kay-Ess") sedan is expected to appear, and other upcoming models could also receive the MK- "Mark" designation.

Sorry brother, but in this case I have to side with the tow truck driver.

If that's thier regs, then it's thier regs. YOu could have been an internal affairs type as one mentioned, checking up on him.

He could have offered you a ride or called someone for you and waited with you on the side of the road.

Our Road Rangers do a hell of a job here in Florida and some have paid a steep price for doing so

In all my years as a LEO, I've never failed to at least try to assist a motorist when they needed help.

I've only been to Kali-Fornia once and only had one occasion to interact with the CHP, but I found they guy quite personable and helpful.

Sorry you've had so many problems with them bro

You can find them at Mid America, Davies Corvette Supplies, and a host of other suppliers.

I believe they're asking around 140+/- for a set.

I got mine used from another forum member for about $40.00.

One obviously had never been raced and was metculous.

The other was driven and raced regularly and gawd!! What a mess.

The interiors go quickly and the exterion

I'd agree that if thats what they had on hand then they might use it. If you include the cost of shipping to get the corect windshield, a possible rental for the customer (if the warranty authorized it) and customer satisfaction, it may have been a more negligible difference than we think;)

I got mine from Davies Corvette Supply here in New port Richey. I don't know who it's made by, but I'm happy with it

You know? For $80.00 and a little time to put it on, it's worth the effort. Just see how it works out?
Whats the worse that can happen? It fails? Ok, then go to plan "B".

I think you'll like the results.

Ok, had the guys at Antivenom replace all the weatherstripping on my 87 a few months back. They did a great job and for a while, no leaks.

Now, I've developed 2 little leaks, one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side.

Looks like they're coming from the top corner of the window then following the rubber down to about 1/4 way where it drops right onto my left knee

Any suggestions?

Why worry (or care) about brand X or the cruise in? For now, let the true colors flow and see what happens next.

It's a waste of time and energy to even discuss it (IMO).

The simple fact of the matter is, brand X will probably live on (despite it's best efforts otherwise), simply because of those you mentioned earlier. The newbies. They'll be where we were and they'll never have known the real forum or it's backbone

They'll cowtow to the reich and and view it as "normal."

The CI will likely remain, and maybe next year, there will be more people from here and other places than brand X;)

If you want something to do, I'd suggest promoting the site at every opportunity. Let it grow at it's own pace. Slow growth is usually permament growth.

Remember, the mods and admins at brand X are so concerned about what everyone else is doing, that they feel the need to sign in anonymously and try to start crap This is a good sign that we're doing something right and that they really do consider us a threat.

But again, rather than dwell on being a threat or getting even, lets dwell on making this site better day by day and let nature take it's course.

Hell, Ive even seen an increase in traffic at the CAC and a couple of others that have been slow as mud for a long time. The times they are a changin' boys!

Hey! Maybe LMFAO will chime in again. We haven't seen his shiny bald head pop up since his last rant

Enjoy the ride and remember, we're all part of history in the making

Was cheap. (and ugly).

Bought from a neighbor who was leaving the area. Was not running, clear coat burned off by the sun and everything on it that was plastic, rubber or vinyl was trashed.

$1000.00 out the door

Crash,

I wrote the original thread in the other place but many of those folks now hang around here. I don't believe those words were written by him but "borrowed" from another wise soul. That's just the kind of guy he was. Loved by everyone who knew him. He was the give his shirt off his back kind of guy. I didn't write this to bring anybody down but lift people up. Memorial Day helps me remember him for who he was and what he loved. Most of us don't know which day will be our last, so live each day to the fullest. And to that I say... Amen..........

Regardless of who wrote them Tommy, if that's the impression he left with you and others, then it's him

Your thread doesn't bring me down bro...it lifts my spirit to know that someone cares enough to remember

And you're right my friend...we never know

God Bless everyone (yeah, even you knuckleheads at Brand X and you too Pewter ) and everyone have a happy and Safe Memorial Day weekend...

Tommy,

I too do not recall the original thread, but he sounds like a very special person.

I'm so sorry for your loss but try to keep those fond memories alive and keep in mind those words he wrote.

God Bless you and his family during this memorial day holiday.

Gordon

How so? Same radiator installation, different facia...

84, Radiator is slightly tilted forward at the top

85-89, Radiator is vertical

90-96 Radiator is raked back..(similar to the way the C3 was)

Thanks Another tidbit I didn't know about my ride

In this case sounds like those punks got what they deserved. They should still have more coming. Why dont they go into more of the story about who they killed? We need some wild west style cops sometimes.

Can't agree with that at all.

We need cops that arent' afraid to take a risk on occasion. I'm not talking about phsical risk, I'm talking about going out on the edge to get the job done.

Renegades, rogues, pack mentality officers? We don't need them and there's no place for them.

As one mentioned, the "pack mentality" took over. I don't care what they did, or who they did it to, unless they threaten YOU, your job is to apprehend and convict, not be judge and executioner.

This will be interesting in the long run. If the chief does the right thing, his job will be safe.

Damn Case!!! Tell me thoses are AU $$ not US?

For that kind of cash, I'll ship mine over tomorrow!

As far as the price on Brand X (or anywhere else for that matter) are concerned, most people over value thier cars with the understanding that the will be "sickered" down somewhat.

For all those CE owners and for that matter, those who've spent extra $$$ of such as the Ron Fellows Editions, and Pace Cars, unfortunately, unless they're fortunate enough to find a collector or someone who just has to have it, they've bought a base car (Z06 or otherwise) for the most part with paint and vinyl.

There's no way in hell I'd pay a premium for paint or vinyl! Unless there's something special about the hard parts (running gear/suspension? or something particularly different about the body (again, built in, not added like paint/vinyl graphics and stick on spoilers), it's just another vette.

Gonna be hard to unload these things for what people think they'll be worth in a few years. Thats why I suggest buy what you want, drive the piss out of it and enjoy it!
