91 Security Light

Any clue as to why the security light would stay on after starting? Open door, light flashes. Start car, light goes solid and stays on. Turn car off, light flashes. Lock doors and light goes solid as it should.

The problem is the light stays on after the car is running.

Picking up the 91 today. Had that starting problem. As Blade_1 suggested. Did you check the coil ? It was a coil related issue. Had the ignition switch replace before it fell out, replaced the door locks that that were sloppy and hard to open, had the mechanisms that work with the door lock serviced so that it opens and closes nice and smooth now. For some reason they didn't connect something right because the security light stays on after starting. I'll pick it up later today, hopefully working right. She (The 91) has been a sick little girl this year. I am still feeling the effects of whatever I contracted. I hope to get back to 90% soon. Sickness sucks.

I worked in a mail processing plant. They had about a dozen letter sorting machines that engaged 15 people per machine per shift. Those machines were replaced over the years by equipment that requires 3 people per shift and belts out more volume. The most needed staffers are the equipment maintenance people. Thousands have been displaced and thousands more are on the chopping block with mail volume dwindling as more and more pay bills online. There was Pony Express, replaced by the mail train, replaced by airmail, replaced by email and electronic transfer. Change is inevitable. So today you have to have skills that engage and promote modern technology if you want to be employable. How many service jobs can our economy accomodate? Retail, commercial real estate, the food service sector and countless others are about to feel a shockwave that's going to rattle our economy to it's core. Remember what happened to the family farm when commercial interests dominated production at lower cost with less manpower. Good paying skilled jobs will get harder and harder to find unless you tap into what's needed today.......... Like nursing ....... or National Crisis Management.

I know what you guys mean about the snow. It snowed here back in the seventies for a few minutes but the flakes melted as soon as they hit the ground. I have awaken to icy windows a couple of times though. I still have my memories of some harsh Boston winters. Today is the first day of my last month at work. 21 work days to go. January 1st, free at last.

I get a kick out of some of the latest offerings on C1s. Now with any bastardized parts they throw on them, some less than savy sellers are referring to as resto-mods. I've seen some nicely done upgraded C1s but these are just old Corvettes with available parts thrown on them. What are the thoughts on these types of cars?

Here's how it played out. The Post Office returned the books marked REFUSED. The seller charged me shipping and handling plus the return postage fee plus a 15% restocking fee. Hows that for getting F~(%ed. They refunded me about $16.00 of my $28.00 total. The Post Ofiice cannot be held liable by law for it's unintentional mistakes. The seller @ Smokey Mtn Books doesn't give a shit because that's his/her return policy. So that's my 101 Projects For Your Corvette story. I didn't even get to wipe my azz with it and it cost me money.

Tommy - what's the verdict on the 90? Get it out of the shop yet? Any leads?

The 91 is in the shop for the starting issue. Two wires on the ignition switch were cracked/chaffed. Probably from aging. I wonder if a test at the coil would have lead me to that.

We are having a really, really nice season. Highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s in SoFlo. Great cruisin' weather. Great weather for almost anything. Don't forget, I paid my dues in the hot, humid, rainy, hurricane prone summer. Now it's time for me to enjoy these wonderful clear blue skies.

Got my $19.99 synthethic blend oil change coupon and went to Firestone to get an oil change and get a screw taken out of one of my Bridgestone tires. Lifetime rotation / balance /alignment etc. Of course, the service advisor informed me it was time for a fuel filter, injector cleaning, air filter and transmission flush. Thanks, but the only screw we're going to see here is the one they pulled from the tire. Went to discount auto to get the air filter. They had fram catalogues but no filters and purolator filters with no look up guide. Counter help was busy so I picked up the air filter from the dealer on the way home. Seemed expensive. When I got my receipt I realized they charged me full retail. Guess I have to start putting everything on the company if I want the discount. Chevy dealer must have told the parts guys to whack them for retail unless they're on account. Heads up. It was only a few bucks differance. If it had been a lot I would returned it and started over.
I brought the 91 to the shop today so they could do the tongue test on the coil. They should be safe because I ain't gettin no riggin friggin spark.

I drove my 91. the one with the intermittent starting problem, for several days without issue. I went to start it this morning to bring it to the shop for some other work. It turns over but will not start. I'll let you know when I finally get to the bottom of this starting issue. AAA is my friend.
