Last weekend it was the waterpump... then the alternator...

now it's the temp sensor on the waterpump.

It freaked on the way home... from 200 to 103 to any number of randomly selected values. So I go to autozone to get a new one... and it sucks... the new one is probably bad.

The temps are going DOWN.

I have another sitting around that I will swap in the morning... I just don't feel like dealing with it now.

Bogus, sorry to hear about all your parts problems. I've had a lot of bad luck with both new aftermarket, and re-man parts. These PITA moments are like scars, in the sense that at some point in the future, you can tell and re-tell the story behind them... hang in there.

Tech Tip: For the benefit of others - I carry a lot of spare parts when I travel, and learned the hard way that all spare parts must be tested on the car prior to going in the trunk for emergency use...

I have always had my best luck with used gm sensors. Any time I bought new aftermarket, it gave me fits.

Wow, you nailed it.
That feeling in the pit of your stomach, the disgust, but yet, you still like the dog. And at these moments the Vette is very much a dog.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Bogus. I definately can relate.

If you're parting it out, I need a door and some seat racks.

Can I get a price on the left upper bolt that holds the rear license plate. I realize that you probably want to sell the rear bumper whole, but if you decide to part it out, I really need this bolt. Shipping to 77010. :thumbright:

it was self diagnosing, really.

When the digital temp gauge starts flaking out, that sensor has failed. If the gauge drops to zero, then there is a wiring problem.

I found some stupid insert in the box this morning... apparently, that part requires some kinda pigtail adaptor thingy. Any bets it reverses polarity? It would make sense, because it was going DOWN and not up last night. Piece of shit.

I raided Bastet's 87 for a temp sensor (remember, it's an LT1 now). That seems to be a-ok. I will call a Chevy dealer and get a couple of new ones and return that POS back to Autozone.

I drove my 91. the one with the intermittent starting problem, for several days without issue. I went to start it this morning to bring it to the shop for some other work. It turns over but will not start. I'll let you know when I finally get to the bottom of this starting issue. AAA is my friend.

I ordered two new coolant temp sensors from Chris May at Superior yesterday. Done and done.
