Or Nascrap.

Love the intro for Lime Rock. Showing the battle between the Audi, Corvette, and Porsche Spyders. None of which are in this years race.

Matt & Brian, IMO, the only thing to run is dual m/cs, Why so? If one fails, you still have brakes on one end. The added advantage is brake bias adjustment. The propotional addon valves work but, not that well and you are still depending on one m/c.
With duals, you can "bench setup" the system in the shop and dial it in on a test day.
Both Tilton & Wildwood make fairly good equipment.

Come on Bill. There are people that don't know what a harmonic balancer is and you expect them to handle dual masters with a balance bar.

I guess you haven't seen how cheap C4 guys are. Most cringe to pay 100 bucks per bearing.

Rebuild the motor to zero balance, then add the flywheel and balancer.

I agree on the full system especially if you're going to do track days. It's very rare but I've seen one car burn up with a extinguisher mounted on the pass seat, the guy went into a tire wall on the pass side, jumped out because of flames in the cockpit and couldn't reach through to get at the extinguisher.

A full system with a 10lb bottle only runs about $400.

The ones mounted to the passenger seat are a joke. You have to unbuckle yourself and then start reaching over the console to the UNSTRAP THE EXTINGUISHER, and then be prepared to use it. Most people do not have the thought process to handle that, and at certain times it can be unsafe. Same goes for mounting it on the harness bar behind you.

Having a dedicated system with a push/pull switch on the dash is the easiest and quickest to operate.

for every LSx swap thread i read on CF, including the FAQ, all i read is "you need a longer driveshaft, this moves stuff forward 1.5 inches or so"

so has anyone done the work to position the engine as factory to not mess with the driveline? i could pick up an aluminum shaft from something longer and have it shortened if necessary but added expense is lame.

If you go back and look through a lot of the threads regarding the swap, you will see one huge problem. Nobody has done the swap the same way twice!

I did my own engine mounts going to the block so I didn't have to cut or section in new mounts to the frame. So my motor sits a little further back, which would be a problem in a car with a heater. I have all the firewall room in the world since it's a race car.

As for the 80k, I'm saying when it sold brand new. Mine #220 sold for 85k.

BTW, car is number 605, steel halfshafts, also on MSO. Car has never ever been titled.

Buy a Corvette ZR1 in 1990 for $60k.
Sit on it for 19 years and hope to get $40.5k for it.

Or, in 1990, put $60k in the bank averaging a return of 3%, (very lazy way, and very safe), now you have $106k.

If you put the money in the bank, you drive the car almost as much as the person who owned it and drove 179 miles. And you didn't have to pay for insurance.

I'm not sure I understand your question correctly Matthew.

I'll try an answer, let me know if it's something else.

The injurys to this guy could be caused by multiple things. My first guess is that the belts were too loose. My second guess is that the belts were impropery installed specific to the mounting locations.

Many guys get a 5 or 6 point seup and think they can wear the belts at the tension they wear their street belts at.
Many guys just use whatever bolts are already available on the car to fit the harness and those locations can be incorrect.
There are specific ways that the lapbelt should be installed and a specific point on your hips that it should cross. The antisub belts should control the location of the lapbelt (up or down) when the shoulderharness belts are pulled very tight.
Both the lap and shoulder bets should be very, very tight.

There are baffons like this guy Paul who think different seats will hold them in enough.
Using 6 point belts with stock seats isn't a very good idea either.

This incident boils down to not having the belts or a proper seat installed. I have seen many guys using a 5 point system that the shoulder straps could not get the correct angle around the upper part of the seat and keep the belts riding on the proper area of the shoulder, nor could the submarine belt do any good for lap belt fit across the pelvic area.

The crotch belts purpose and only purpose is to help hold down the lap portion after you have cinched down the shoulder belts. Your crotch should never touch the submarine belt in an accident period. All the movement and flex that you want is in the hips and the belts themselves. Hence the reason why you should replace your belts after an accident.

I'm getting tired of these commando type of guys going out to track days thinking they are the shit with improper equipment added, when the factory stuff is good enough. If you want the added safety, go out, get a bar, harnesses and a proper seat. Then finalize the purchase with a HANS or other neck support system. Then go back out to the track.

Lambo only made 1 lap. Had issues with the positive cable on the alternator, then overheated the motor on their first lap.

GT1 class was

63 C6R with O'Connell/Magnusson/Garcia
64 C6R with Gavin/Baretta/Fassler
72 Luc Alphand team (Old C6R)
73 Luc Alphand team (Old C6R)
66 Aston Martin
67 Lamborghini

Very thin field this year, but I am glad I went and saw the last race for the C6R.

Are you sure 90 psi is good?

If you lost a belt, you lost valves.

Doesn't matter how good or bad the belt was, anytime it stops turning, the teeth/cog portion will get torn off.

The big block made more power than the Lotus, and the new LS series all smoke the LT-5. Seems like they know very well how to make a motor. At a dyno day a couple of years ago, a stone stock LS7 made about 120 RWHP more than a chipped LT-5. Even back then, the LS6 454 crate motor made about 90 more HP than the LT5 and did not weigh any more. I just think Dave McClellan had a 4 cam and bad hair fetish.

Newer LS series can thank the LT5 program for the development.

As far as a LS6 454, It does not idle as nice, get the best gas mileage, nor would it be the best at beating the best the world had to offer back in 89.

Gary, I know I only get about an inch or so movement from my tires per day when running about 5 sessions. These are Kumhos. The SWC team that I help from time to time, only has about a 1 inch slip on their Viper per session.

The other thing is, why are you marking the inside of the rim, tire. You should be marking it on the exterior and noticing the change when you get out of your car to do the inspection.

Feel free to call me if you ever need a tool runner while you're doing that stuff. I'd love to learn from the master!

4th is the same 1:1, but the M12 box had a different 5th and 6th gear as well.

Swapping out the clutch on the C5/C6 is a crappy job. Just a lot of work to remove all the pieces to get at it.
