Good afternoon - got up and went in the office today for some extra cash, I had 2 logo jobs lined up plus a couple other things so there was stuff for me to do. One logo job was proofed in record time, the other I never got the stuff from the lady, and the bottom just kinda fell outta things. I split and picked up my meds next door then to Kroger then just got home. Thinking a nap since it's cool and gloomy out. Congrats on the Mopar Marcus. Good deals are few and far between, you have to grab em when you can. Glad you were in and out in record time at the stealership Tee, can't beat that.

CORVETTE RACING AT QATAR: First Pole for Corvette Z06 GT3.R

Corvette becomes first manufacturer with poles in three FIA WEC GT classes

· First pole for new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R in initial race with TF Sport

· Tom Van Rompuy fastest LMGT3 qualifier in first FIA WEC start

· Fifth pole position for Corvette brand in FIA WEC competition

· No. 81 TF Sport Corvette Z06 GT3.R to start first, No. 82 TF Sport Corvette to start 11th

LUSAIL, Qatar (March 1, 2024) – Chevrolet’s new Corvette Z06 GT3.R secured its first pole position Friday as Tom Van Rompuy set the fastest time in the LMGT3 Hyperpole session for TF Sport ahead of the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 Km.

Van Rompuy, driving the No. 81 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, set a time of 1:54.372 (105.944 mph) around Lusail International Circuit to take the pole in his first career FIA WEC event. His time in the Corvette, which he will share with Charlie Eastwood and Rui Andrade, was 0.807 seconds clear of the second-fastest time in class.

In addition to the first pole for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Friday’s achievement also marked the Corvette brand’s fifth pole position in WEC competition. It also is the first manufacturer to qualify on pole position in the series’ three GT classes.

The result also gave TF Sport its 10th pole in WEC competition and first since the Six Hours of Spa in May of 2023.

The Qatar 1812 Km is the first race for the TF Sport/Corvette two-car alliance. The No. 82 Corvette of Hiroshi Koizumi, Sébastien Baud and Daniel Juncadella just missed the GT3 Hyperpole field and will start Saturday’s race 11th in class.

Friday’s session marked the first time – outside of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – that WEC used a Hyperpole session to set the grid for both the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes. The top-10 cars from the first round of qualifying advanced to the 10-minute Hyperpole.

The Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 Km is scheduled for 11 a.m. Arabian Standard Time / 3 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, March 2.  MotorTrend will provide both live television coverage in the U.S., as will MAX, MotorTrend Plus and the FIA WEC TV app on streaming devices.

TOM VAN ROMPUY, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s a good thing this is on the screens because I otherwise I wouldn’t believe it! It’s my first qualifying session in WEC. We’ve worked really hard this week to improve the car and improve ourselves. The team did a mega job, as did the guys at Corvette and Pratt Miller. In the end, we made it all work so this is a team effort. I could put a really good lap together, and I’m really amazed with this result.”

More on key to taking pole position: “It was (important) really looking after the warmup of the tires. The first lap was really slow and then I was building up. I got another GT car ahead of me on the third lap so I had to back off again to go again. So I had two laps to do it and made it work to put it all together. So I’m very happy.”

Where is the team in managing what will be a long race: “The team has done a really great job. We have a strong package to compete. Obviously it’s a different thing than qualifying – race pace, managing the double-stinting and the other things. But I think we’re quite up to that. It’s exciting to see how it will work out tomorrow in the race.”

CHRISTIE BAGNE, CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R PROGRAM MANAGER: "We couldn't be happier for Tom, the No. 81 Corvette team and all of TF Sport. Taking pole position in the first WEC race for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R is a great accomplishment for the team, Chevrolet, Pratt Miller and everyone at Corvette Customer Support with a tremendous collaborative effort making this possible. We look forward to an exciting race tomorrow for both TF Sport Corvettes."

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “The collaboration that we have within the team during the first race is something I’ve never experienced. The mix between GM and Pratt Miller integrating into TF Sport, and also all of the drivers never meeting each other before last week and how we’ve all merged together, the pace of it is just incredible. In terms of helping my teammates, I’m trying to give them as much past experience as possible, even little things like full-course yellows, safety car procedures and things that are second-nature for myself now are very different from other championships in which they may have driven. My goal is always with the Silver and Bronze drivers is to reduce the capacity of thinking so they can focus more on driving. If I can give them any information so they don’t have to come on the radio and ask questions, that just gives them more of their capacity to focus on driving fast.

“I’m very hopeful for the race. With so many pit stops in a 10-hour event and with the pace that we’ve shown throughout all of the lineup, I don’t think there are many in a much better spot. It’s a big points event, and I’m for sure sitting here going for the win. To be honest, I don’t think it’s being unrealistic. If the team does what they do every year and all the drivers nail their stints – no track limit warnings, no drive-throughs and no mistakes – I feel like we can make a real difference in the race. We’ve been here a long time, and we don’t have long to wait to see where we finally are.”

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 82 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I feel like everything has been smooth so far. We’ve done a lot of miles with zero issues, zero setbacks, no reliability issues and that’s really encouraging for a brand new car and a team that is still learning the car. It’s all been really cool so far. My teammates have been great. Seb, I know, is a very fast kid. With Hiroshi, I had low expectations to be fair and he has been way, way above where I expected. So that gives me a lot of encouragement for the race. He came here, didn’t know the track or the car and was immediately on pace.”

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “We’ve tried a lot of things, which is important considering this is the team’s first race with the Corvette. I think we are definitely in a strong window, and I’m really happy. We did take some steps that didn’t work out so well in practice, but now we are back in a quite comfortable spot. The biggest steps have been learning what we can get from the setup and what we can’t. There’s no point in chasing something that you aren’t going to get. We’ve found a good compromise and the car is strong. This is normal as you test and you do laps with a new car, so I’m pretty happy with what we have going into the race.”

SÉBASTIEN BAUD, NO. 82 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m very happy going into the race. This is a very nice car and a very nice team. Everything is enjoyable. This week gave me a chance to learn the Corvette, learn the team and work with Dani and Hiro, who are both very fast. There is a good feeling now for the first race, which is very long. The car in practice has been good, we have no issues and the drivers have not made mistakes. We will look at the results from qualifying and then tomorrow stay focused in the race. It is very important to be careful around the Hypercars; it is my first race for me, for Hiro and for Dani with those cars in this championship. But we should stay focused on our own race. It’s important to stay calm, make no mistakes, no track limits… if we can finish in the top-five, this will be a good result for our first race together in this championship.”

TOM FERRIER, TF SPORT TEAM OWNER: “This an absolute dream start with Corvette. I’m not sure going into Hyperpole that we might be on pole. We weren’t thinking that far ahead! All credit to Tom, and the guys on the team did a great job. The race will be very long tomorrow, and that’s been our focus all week. It’s been a really busy winter trying to get everything ready. We had some testing at Dubai that wasn’t so successful with some weather; believe it or not we got rained off for two days so that cramped our preparation a little bit. It’s been a lot of hard work in a very short amount of time. We’ll see where we are, and hopefully we’ve got the ingredients to have a strong result.”

..The Dodge deal just fell in my lap.... totally out of the blue.... told Doc.... never going to have a chance at another one like this.... complete body off restoration back in 08, 09 its got a 440 punched and stroked to a 505 with 570 hp and 610 torque... roller rockers etc..... 4:10 Dana rear end with Gear Venders OD unit behind the Hemi 4 speed tranny.... makes it so you can cruise on the Interstate at reasonable RPM.... it has a fuel conscious 850 CFM Holley carb on it.....

Cam is lumpy but the car is streetable.... Power Steering and disc brakes all around.... I'd post pics but you know.... the thing.... not easy for me to do....

Early Mopar stuff is very cool right now.... especially new ones with less then a thousand miles on them. No trust me they are.... ask anybody....

the 64 Polara was a one year body style.... the 63's were ugly and the 65's turned into a huge family car....

Uummmmm. Shouldn't you be downsizing?

The Rotary Club is sponsoring the Stone Crab and Seafood Festival here in Homestead this weekend. Sue has a spot they give her for decorating the stage with plants. Sue also got two other nurseries to donate some material for an auction that takes place at the end of the festival. I delivered some stuff there this morning for her. Heading to the yard methinks to do some weeding.

Marcus, send me some info on your product and price list. Maybe I'll get Sue some to see how good it works in zone 10. Do you ship?

Well, got to the dealership 3 1/2 hours early. Sat in the waiting area for about 45 minutes, when I noticed the pickup was gone from where I parked it. Rosie and decided to walk across the highway to waste some time (a WalMart), so I went back to the service area to make sure they had my phone number. The guy back there was just pulling the pickup in (from test drive to verify the problem) and he said, he was going to try and figure out the problem so we wouldn't have to wait around that long. Verified my phone number and we went off. We walked around for a while and then walked down to a fast food place to grab a quick sandwich. Then walked back to the dealership and as we walked in the service manager said, I just left you a message, we got you all fixed up and you're ready to head home. Somehow, the camera was out of calibration...he recalibrated it and that fixed it. We were on the road 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. Small town dealership!

started off sunny today but cold as all get out, then warmed up a hair and is now cloudy. Planning to work tomorrow for some extra cash, Rover needs tires and a control arm bushing but of course, can't get the bushing so have to buy the whole doo-dad. I got 2 logo jobs to do tomorrow and a couple other loose ends to tie up. Throws off my weekend/Friday plans but money is money.
Tee if you are still at the stealership, ask for a loaner. Always ask for a loaner. "waiters gonna wait" is the mantra , and in their defense, they're usually piled up with 3-4 stalls each with cars torn down in all of them and trying to finish one thing before starting another. Service writers have no idea what's going on and don't understand there's not techs just standing around waiting on a car to come in. And, where Arron's at, they all had Covid and were all out the same days almost so talk about being short handed. Hope they get you going tho with no other issues.

Hey guys, up early and off to north west Kansas. Taking the GGD back to see the other side of the family. Dropped her off and headed west to the town where I bought the pickup… a couple little problems they are going to fix, adaptive cruise and lane departure systems not working. Both are related, both systems rely on a forward facing camera which obviously isn’t working properly, maybe not something I will use, but if paying as much as I did for the truck, everything NEEDS to work as it should. Biggest problem is we have to wait. We were here at 9:30 MT (10:30) now and the appointment is not until 1 pm.

Why here so early? We had to meet the family to pass off GGD at 10CT, and this was earliest they could me in today. Remember we are 2 hours from home (120 miles). I guess that is a drawback to buying the truck from this dealership. Might check to see if they will give us a loaner to go grab a bit to eat here after while.

I get Free Play fom the casino and free cruises from Carnival. Just pay port charges and taxes. Well, as Marcus mentioned, nothing is really free. It's more like prepaid.

Trying to knock out a little something everyday. Cleaned the A/C filter. Filled the fish food container. Next up is hang some screening on the fence. I'm making sure the neighbors dogs can't get to mine and visa versa. Onward Christian soldiers and you pagans too. I'm getting back into my stride. Have to get as much done as possible so I can relax a little in the dog days of a Florida summer.

Good Morning CGs!

Happy leap day!

We've had some wild weather this week. I'm the 70s on Tuesday afternoon which changed into rain, hail, and tornados and then 27 on Wednesday morning. Still cold now in the 20s. Guess it couldn't last forever.

A quick Guinness book record I remember from when I was a kid:

https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/w ... siblings-born-on-leap-day

Hope everyone has a great day!

the last time I was on a plane was a long time ago, but I was able to pick my seat upon purchase of my ticket. Don't mean you wont' get bumped or something but still. And, I did figure out to pick those little island hopper planes. more room and less bs. The one time I did have an issue, the attendant noticed and offered me the reverse facing jump seat space behind the pilot's entry door. Big seat, about 6ft of legroom and nobody behind me kicking my seat. And, she was friendly to talk to and gave me goodies :D

..we have been flying on Alaska airlines and United mostly.... and could have flown United to Houston but those went into George Bush Intercontinental airport and the William P Hobby airport in southern Houston was much closer to where we were staying..... direct flight out of Omaha to Hobby in Houston..

like to go first class if we book early and prices are not stupidly more.... Business class has expanded leg room and is reasonably priced also..... first class has chow on long enough flights... and free drinks.... gotta love dat...

I will say this that Southwest did not charge for up to 2 bags each and allows you to pay to get into the A group seating which allows you to pick seats in a relatively empty plane when you board.... the seats are small and the legroom is tight... especially if you are 6'2" with eyes of blue...

Southwest has lost it's glitter as have almost ALL the airlines. Keep prices low prices and fill the planes. I never flew Southwest because of the seating I prefer to know where I'm sitting when I book. I upgrade to roomier seats when it's cheap to do it but lately it has not ben cheap. When it was $35 I'd do it. Now they want $135 more. I'll keep the money and buy dinner at the destination. I'll be in Seattle in a couple of months. Booked a room within close walking distance to Pikes Market. Fly in, hang out, enjoy the room and head out on another cruise to Alaska. Round trip from FLL to SEA direct flights at around 6 hours long. Seattle makes me laugh. They bitch about cigarette smoking and there are joint roaches all over the place. And of course the street zombies. They're all smoking something else.

Marcus, I have never seen a mall named The Galleria Mall in the ghetto.

overcast here today and cold, the cool front came in a bit early. I'd set some plants out and should've brought them in last night but last time I checked weather, I was good till tonight. Oh well. Every single one of my prized hibiscus bit the dust this year thanks to the cold, even the one in the pool house where it was kept really warm. It's just weird that ALL of them croaked. Never had that happen before, some of these I've had for 6-7 years. Seems like mother nature don't want me to have anything. At least we didn't get bad storms like we were supposed to get, just some rain. Sorry about the car Gris, that's the technician law though - whatever you have a problem with will never happen when the mechanic has it, ever. Marcus glad you made some sales, but sorry about the airline, didn't used to be that way.
Kinda busy here today, got some approvals and the boss's desk is piled up again now, that ought to make him happy

SAD TO HEAR THAT ABOUT SOUTHWEST. IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS THEY WERE TRANS -TEXAS, a.k.a TREETOP AIRLINES, AND WOULD HAVE A DRINK IN YOUR HAND BEFORE THE WHEELS CAME UP.
VERY POPULAR WITH THE ARMY AT FT HOOD,

I'm Baaaack..... hey now been in Houston for a large trade show which we had a booth set up. It was very successful and sold a lot of product to farmers who were in attendance.

Memo to self... only fly Southwest airlines if walking isn't an option.... now I know what cattle feel like being shipped... and they made the ride bumpy enough they could not serve drinks or snacks... saving money I'm thinking.... at least is was a non stop and around 2 hours in the air into Omaha... which was 40 min late taking off....

80 degrees in Houston but we were indoors all the time... we did not witness any crime... but we were in a high end part of town.... around a very large high end shopping mall called the Gallaria.... I did not see much of Doc who went with me as she kept claiming she was getting lost in the vastness of the mall.... they have a very large ice skating rink in the mall also... we did have extra bags to check on the way home..... don't ask don't tell is my mantra...

keep moving and grooving Guru's

GRIS, have you checked your storage area for gremlins? C-4s are notorious for harboring them. I've got several in mine.

Appears to be a nice day. Planning on flushing the water system and changing the water filter and change the A/C home filter as well. Flush the Koi pond too and ad some chemicals. There is no moss growing on me ...... Sue wants me to sell the cars and lets me know regularly. I'm not driving them and she's complaining about spending money on the insurance and upkeep. Can't say that I don't understand. Thinking about selling them with gremlins and all for the best reasonable offer. The bonus is I'll also get rid of an ear bug .....

WINTER STRIKES BACK: 24 DEGREES AND WINDY, 46 FOR THE HIGH.
BUT THE SUN IS SHINING :-)

WESTERN OKLAHOMA IS BURNING UP, 30,000 ACRES THEY SAY, HOMES DESTROYED.

CHECKED ON RED CAR, MECHANIC HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HIS THEORY IS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DID NOT GET SHUT ALL THE WAY AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON TO DRAIN THE BATTERY. HE CAN FIND NO PARASITIC DRAIN.
HE'LL KEEP IT THIS WEEK AND SEE IF THE BATTERY STAYS UP AS IT HAS SO FAR.
CAN'T DECIDE IF THIS IS GOOD NEWS OR BAD---

TODAY, NOTHING ON THE AGENDA. NOT A GOOD DAY TO BE OUTSIDE!

KEEP UP THE FIRE!

Sunny off and on here and warm but with 4,000,000 mile an hour winds according to the new weather kid on tv. He's correct. Been a bit of a busy day here, I got about 9 folders on my desk, getting that time of year. Had plans to go walk tonight but it's too windy out and I don't feel like driving across town to go to the gym. Was busy all weekend so might just sit this one out tonight and watch tv.

In other news Wendy's restaurant will be experimenting with dynamic pricing, the prices of certain items will be more depending on what time of day you order. Seems like Dave needs to have a talk with his daughter and get them frosty prices right.

Education counts:

When I was young I decided I wanted to be a doctor so I took the entrance exam to go to medical school. One of the questions asked to rearrange the letters PNEIS into the name of an important human body part which is most useful when erect. Those who answered "spine” are doctors today. The rest of us are sending jokes by email.

"OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING" CLEAR, 68, LIGHT BREEZE. THE PREDICTED HIGH IS 84, IN FEBRUARY ???

ALL WENT WELL WITH THE CARDIAC FOLKS. I LIKE THEM; THEY GET YOU IN AND OUT WITHOUT MUCH WAITING, EXPEDITIOUSLY ONE MIGHT SAY :-) BEING ON TIME FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND THEN HAVING TO WAIT IS A PET PEEVE; THE LONGER I WAIT THE GROUCHIER I GET.

AUTO ROTATION TODAY, HARVEY UP. THE BUMBLEBEE'S BREAKS ARE FADING, HAVE TO GET THAT SEEN ABOUT.

I'LL GO OVER TO MUSKOGEE AND CHECK ON THE JONAH CAR.

MY BEST TO YOU, GURUS!

Heading to the Mohs surgeon's office to get some stitches out. Everything is healing up without issue. Changed out the rollers on the garage door yesterday. The automatic opener was jamming every once in awhile. I hope that resolves the issue. It should as there were at least two worn out rollers on there. I'm always busy because I don't want to shell out the bucks for jobs I can do myself and save a few bucks along the way as well. Hell, I 'd have to be here for them to fix it anyway. That's another reason I do it if I can. We've been watching The Kominsky Method on Netflix in the evening. I find it entertaining.

gloomy here - was supposed to be 75 and sunny and of course when I plan to stay home and be outside, it gets ruined. Of course it was nice yesterday when I had to be someplace inside all day, never fails. I guess I'll get the laundry caught up and stuff, or I could go clean off the back porch, or not. Looks like I'll be in the car tomorrow though instead of the Rover, it left a puddle in the driveway - turns out to be some boot thing under there on the control arm that's apparently oil filled Now I have gunk in my parking spot.

Good evening, sunny and beautiful here and of course I had to be somehwere. Our club had a bowling tournament and we all were there, but it was a nice day to get the car out. I left early so I could just drive a while. It made it to 77 today here, supposed to be about that tomorrow too. Plans to just sit on my hind end out in the sun and nothing else. I've been up and going all weekend, errands and a 4-mile hike Friday, then yesterday we went a couple hours to Heber Springs, AR and Greers Ferry lake for 2 more waterfall hikes and then some nice sunset photos then back home, today was the bowling thing, then I'm about to leave to go to some concert in town, Johnny Cash's son. The mayor's seester is in our vette club, and other member friend of mine works for him too and he gave her 2 tickets. The sister didnt want to go, she goes to bed at like 5 pm, so I got roped into going. Arron is working next town over, changed oil in an ATV, then was sanding on a transam, he's not home yet. I reckon I'll see him at some point tonight, he can sit here and drink beer and watch cartoons, he'll be happy.

Hey guys, up early and off to the church to prepare for serving breakfast after Mass. Served around 70.

Chilly start, but warming right up, 64 at noon and looking to add another 10* to that for a high.

Hey guys, Not a whole lot going on. I did clay the new pickup and coat it with a ceramic coating. Yesterday, I added Vent Shades to the windows and added bed hooks in the bed. Going to sell the tonneau cover that came on the truck. It's a really nice roll up hard cover, a Retrax, $2200 new, but they take up a foot of the 5'9" bed, space I can't afford to lose. Someone is going to get a great deal on a bed cover. I hope to get $1k for it...half the price of a new one, and I be able to buy the one I want and hopefully have some $$$ left over.

Good Morning CGs!

The weekend is finally here. I'm ready for it.

Weather has been nuts here. Was in the 60s a couple days ago and then we had an inch of nasty ice/snow mix yesterday. Supposed to be warm again tomorrow and next week. Mother nature seems confused.

I'm itching to get the cars out, guess I better get started working on them.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Gamornin GRIS

Cold front sweeping through. High 40's for the morning lows. The tortoises will not be pleased. Cold blooded ya know. Iguanas will slow down but shouldn't fall from the trees. Usually mid 40's for that. Been a couple of healthy looking non venomous snakes been seen in the yard lately. Hope they can get their fill. Plenty of lizards and vermin for them to load up on.
