if you have a paper copy of a summit racing catalog, in the tire section, most if the tires list appropriate rim sizes and the tire width and diameter.

you know, if you need an outsider to install and evaluate your system on a stock vette, i would be willing to give 'er a whirl :toothy5:

i don't know what it effects but by going to the 91, you are completely changing the "constants" of your tests and avoiding the AFR issues you are having on the iron head motor. the iron head motor should be a MAF set up and the 91 is a MAP set up. your number should increase by 15hp, if the factory numbers were correct..............

12.9 is perfect on a N/A small block for wide open throttle 14.5 to 14.9 for crusing or normal driving this is where the great fuel economy comes from. This test was also done on 87 octane fuel the car we are perminatly installing it on runs on 91 so the sesults should be more.

so, was your 12.5 AFR a WOT number or a part throttle number? if it was a WOT AFR, what AFR were you able to achieve during part throttle runs? was the TPI engine that you used in the C3 a stock or modified engine? What mods?

you said that it didn't like to be leaned out past 12.5. i know on my liquid cooled bike, that was good for WOT but ideally, i wanted to be between 13.8 to 14.1 for part throttle. what is ideal for the L98? what did the factory send these out the door with?

i just sent that seller this email:

I saw your auction on ebay for the C4 competition headers and was wondering about your street version. Do they have the O2 sensor port and the a.i.r. fittings and the egr flange? What about a forward Y pipe to hook up to my stock size (3inch inlet) Random Tech converter? I tried to use google to find your website, but was unable to.

Thanks,

chris adkins

her is the response i got:

"They do have all the fitting if you need air and egr there is an extra cost"

not to get too far off topic, but i have noticed some people using the front crossmember to jack the front for jackstands....but where do put the jack to lift the entire rear after you have lifted the front?
i have seen the link for jackstand placement, but was curious as to where to put it just to lift the entire rear.........

while it doesn't fit me, i think he is doing a great job. i have never been a purist....so i look at this as his way of fixing GM's styling flaws. you guys know how crappy the fit and finish was on the C1,2 & 3, maybe he should slack off alittle so he doesn't have to fix the whole car! it is great to see a custom vette.

extreme,

what about the our digital dashes and read outs? i'm not exactly positive, but i thought us MAF guys would loose some (fuel/mpg) readouts if we went to the newer ECMs and speed density? i could only guess that would be the same with your system?

i do like the idea, though. i just spent the last 2 years playing with/customizing an 06 v-rod and i used a daytona twintech twinscan II+ for data logging and the screaming eagle race tuner to reprogram my bike's ecm. it was pretty neat, the twinscan would plug into the data link on the bike and read the programed map and it also used 2 wideband O2 sensors to monitor the output. when you down-loaded the twinscan, it would basically tell you, your ECM is commanding this AFR at this RPM and this TPS. Your bike displayed this AFR at blah, blah, blah. To get to the commanded AFR, change your volumetric efficiency table to XX at this RPM and this TPS. You really had total control of your programing with this set-up, displacement, spark, fuel, turn on/off the knock sensor. it was pretty bad ass, kinda makes me wonder why there isn't more stuff like this that is readily available to the car guys.

chris

oh yeah, this set-up cost me less than $1000.....

the one car i wish i could have back was my first vette. in 99, i had a 76 vette that i did a frame off resto-mod. i put an ecklers tilt front end on it, some ZL1 rear quarters, and a set of custom rims on it from wheel vintiques. it had no a/c and manual streering with power windows....i painted it poppy red with dupont chromabase. it was beautiful and a blast to cruise in. i sold it for 8500 and 2 years later, i tried to buy it back. even after going as high as 14000, the guy still wouldn't let it go! what kills me is that he never did anything to it and probably only drove it 500 miles! he still has it, but i have come to accept that the only way i will ever get it back is to build another one.

chris :sad7:

ha made you look anyways i am laying under my car changing out both y pipes, main cat, and mufflers....4 of the damn collector bolts are frozen, so it looks like i am going to have to snap them off. for the last 2 days i have been douching them with PB blaster, no joy. so i have been searching ebay for a reasonably priced set of manifolds that are in nice shape. i went to the exotic muscle website and noticed that they have the ceramic hooker long tubes with smog and the y pipe for a livable price. now the only mods i really planned on doing under the hood was a set of 1.6 roller rockers. do you think i will get any real benefit from these headers or should i just drill and replace my studs? does anybody have any experience with these headers? man do those sound like newbe questions or what?

one of the last forums that i was a part of was 1130cc.com (formerly v-rodforums) and i think it was one of the easiest sites to navigate. the owner of that forum is Max Milender. he is a real stand up guy. you could probably go over there and pm him and he could give you some ideas. i know his site is pretty successful and we all know that the v-rods have been the bastard of harley if not the motorcycle world.....

Andy/mods, i know i am new here and if i am out of line or did this wrong......... whip

it would only save about $100, but i can pick the rebuild kit up locally or i would have to order a rack, mail the core back, wait for a credit.....

the belt looks good....the steering wheel doesn't want to move much when i first start it, but after a few minutes idling, it works. i have no growling from the pump.
