We fathers are all mofos! I just spent a few days with my dad. Last Sunday was his 87th birthday. I'll call him today, of course. He has 5 sons, 11 grandkids, 11 great-grandkids and even one great-great grandson. Quite a legacy! Happy Fathers Day to all to all of you other dads out there. It's our highest calling in life. |

Well, I thought about fatherhood just about as long as thought about the priesthood - a little under two minutes. If any child was just half the trouble I was, I'd either have to kill them or kill myself. The world owes me a deep debt of gratitude that my genes went no further. However, my younger seven siblings all have children and all so far seem to have turned out to be great kids. My father, who'll I'll call a little later, should be relatively proud of his accomplishments - eight children and fifteen grandchildren, and averaged out, very little spent on defense attorneys and court fees along the way. Here's an appropriate quote for the day:
When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished by how much he'd learned in seven years. -- Mark Twain |

Happy Fathers Day to you all, too! It's been a great day so far - the sun even managed to shine, which is quite an accomplishment lately.
