hi

ok, 2 bad lifters...but, why are they on the same cyl#1?

also, there are coming gobs of oil on the lifters near the firewall, and then, each lifter that comes nearer to the front gets less oil....like the pressure in the oil rail is dropping from back to front...

i have no clue, what this could be

thank you

hi all

have driven the car today, and when i come home, there was a medium loud ticking noise under the drivers side valve cover...

removed the V/C and started to look for things..nothing noticeable

i started the car with V/C open, the following occured:

on the firewall side, there was plenty of oil coming from the pushrods..
the amount of oil decreased going towards the front of the engine, and on the 2 pushrods, nearest the front, cyl #1 no oil was coming from them....

also, the very first lifter on cyl 1 was compressible, so no oil in it...

what the hell is going in here? the engine is based on a GMPP block, once i swapped the cam, but not the bearings..possible failure?

the oil pressure is just 30psi hot, this with an Melling Performance +25% pump...

any opinions?

thank you

hi, and thank you!!

ok, with the M-selects, i have the stronger casting....but no billet gears...

it seems, that most (all?? ) new pumps have p/m gears, that are not that tough than billet..they seem to break from time to time...

ok, one more oil pump thread...

so, is there any traditional wet sump oil pump around in the aftermarket, that..

.....is rated high performance

.....have a "good" heavy housing, that doesn´t crack

.....have billet gears, no p/m gears

i searched around, but didn´t come up.....

thank you

d***

just searched google for this pump issues....and come up with a related, but different story (hopefully no dupe)

what material are the pump gears made of?

it seems, that Melling uses powdered metal, that tends to crack and locks the pump....and not only Melling, also other manufacturers...

Hi

the pump is a sealed power SV, SP pump...

what gives me headache is, that this pump is the weak casting, which give a good possibility of failure, especially used in stroker motors...

i run a Canton road race pan 240-15T IIRC

thank you

hi all

as some of you know, theres just a topic going on in another forum, oil pump desaster....

i also have a "sealed power" SV, SP pump in my 396, and this oil pump breakage nightmare give me some headache...

i want to install a 10552, or a 10555 pump, ( i have the 10555 at home), which one would you recommend me?

10%, or 25% more volume? any downsides? i run a canton road race pan....

thanks for input
