I have an 85 vette and im tired of the 700r4. I will be switching to the LS1 pcm by summer hopefully and will opt for the 4l60e connector. I have a tuner but need the tranny

so my question is:
What would it take to make a 95-96 truck 4l60E work in my vette?

I would think its as simple as changing the tailhousing right?

I know there are differences in the 700R4 between the Vette and other applications.

What I don't know is if that's the case with the 4L60E.

Beyond that, mechanically as far as installation is concerned, should bolt in, after swapping the tail shaft.

I do wonder if the truck version has difference like shaft sizes and such.

PeteK would be the one to answer.

Depends on when the housing on the truck trans changed; I believe the later "E's" (LS1's )have a 6 bolt housing ; not 4 bolt like 4L60.

Any reason you can't just use a 94-96 vette 4L60E?

Not sure if this will help but I used a 4L60E out of a 1995 truck for my 1989 TPI GTA Trans Am. All I had to do to was change the tail housing for it to bolt right up.

It should.
Swap tailhousing, and chop down output shaft 3/4 inch.
Truck converter would likely be a touch tighter than a stock 85, but the 85 converter will work fine with the 95.

I was told 85 stall was 2000-2200. Anyway I will be able to confirm this when I swap? I want to keep my stall below 2500 until I get another car

The converter will have a sticker with a 4 letter code.
That code will tell you the stall.
