Good Morning CGs!

Well, hopefully a lazy Sunday for me. Gonna go make some breakfast, get in a workout, watch a little powerblock tv (my church) and make some lunch. Sounds good to me! After that we've got dinner plans at a Brazilian restaurant.

What's everyone else up to? How was Sat night?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Snowed all day and nite Saturday. The storm dumped all it could so you guys to the east will have it easier. I got another 12 inches in the driveway which sucks. This ain't normal.
The ski sloped got 3 1/2 feet which is great.

I still refuse to pick up a shovel.

Looks pretty until you have to shovel it, Bill! We have a little on the way, and plenty cold to boot. I just dragged my butt out of bed a little while ago, starting the day off in lazy mode.

Me no shovel,Brad.
My one wheel drive Silverado can make 2 nice ruts in the driveway and I use the front bumper to plow out he mailbox.

I was going to buy a snowblower about 5 years ago but then we had 5 years of 4 inches or less that disappeared in one day.

Puhleezz keep that snow there with you guys!
I kinda missed the weeekend. I guess my body is about ready for a crash knowing the job will end soon and there will be some time to rest finally. I've been sleeping like a hibernating bear lately, even not hearing the clock in the mornings. I can usually hear a knat fart in a whirlwind in downtown China. Went to bed Friday night around 10pm, slept till 2pm Saturday, back in bed at 10 or so and up at 9:45 today. Really screws up my to-d0 list.
But we've managed to miss the snow, we got the rain. Nasty either way. Need to run down to mamma's house today and clean up and stuff again, am relisting the house plus need to drain the hot water heater and crap. Then come home and clean my house, go through some stuff and do dishes and all that woman's work that I have no man to help with, and check on that brake booster I think I efed up, and see if my fan switch is bad or if it's the third relay I didn't replace.
Whew. What a fun filled day.
You all enjoy your football.....

Morning folks. Had some friends come by last evening, I worked on their computers (2). This morning I got up and went back down to the house where I've been working, took some sandpaper and took some pictures. So here's a couple of my handy work. I made all the trim around the windows to match the trim in the house...a 110 year old original.

Oh, it already 45* and is supposed to be pretty nice all week. You can keep your snow. Oh, I got some pictures from my cousin who lives in Pahrump. They have snow there, which like Bill says....."is very unusual".

That window looks very nice,Tom. I wish I would have seen the construction before I did mine. I'm not happy with the 45* miters.

Miters just stink, Bill. I hate to do them, because I rarely am happy with them. Yours don't look bad at all.

Oh, BTW I don't have to do the staining or finishing on the windows, they've got a guy coming back in to do that. And there is an antique wall unit that will fit in between the bookcases, but I am waiting for the lady to return to tell me how high she wants it.

I have a great respect for anyone tackling an old house.
Lots of work and they are a PITA but bring great satisfaction and many learning experiences.
For a while I lived in an old doctor's house, build in the early '20s. Plaster walls, push button switches, original wiring, all that. It was a very cool house with lot of windows made of those tiny panes and a huge enclosed porch with more of them with crank open window sections. I learned how to re-glaze them after getting a $6,500 estimate. I'd like to have the house back but hated where it was located.

Some of my miters look OK, some still need work and a little filler.

When I do the my next molding project, I'm copying your window. What size material is the piece, at the top between the vertical and horizontal molding? Is that like a 1/4 reveal? This is way easier than what I tried.

Bill, that piece is 1/2" thick, the casing itself is 4" wide. The stool is 4" wide as well. The end to edge butt joints are darn sure easier to do than miters. I see where yours don't fit quite right. That's frustrating, because the wall itself is causing that. But the coping around the stool looks really good.

Yea, coping at 45 1/2, etc. until they fit. Then you nail them and they don't.I usually get one or two out of four tight like the top ones. I have a bit of filler work on them.

But that's the last time, I "borrowed" your pic. I like that design better anyway.

Bill, sent you drawings. The dim not shown.... the casing and stools are 3/4" thick the "divider piece" at the top is 1/2" thick x 1" wide and bullnosed with a 1/4"R quarter round so it sticks out in front like it does on the sides of the drawing.
