I got a kick out of the scene in the new Star Trek movie ( we just rented it, missed it at the theater last summer) where the young Kirk is hauling ass down the road in the 65 roadster. When he starts to pop the top I yelled don't do it and bang he blew the top clear off that thing. It reminded me of the night I was scooting right along and reached up to adjust the t-top on my 79 and popped it open and was instantly topless. Not much left when I found it. Alcohol may have been involved. Nobody hurt though.

I did not like it when Kirk ran it off the cliff. I could only think of what that car must have been worth in 2300 something. It was a nice looking Vette. They would have C30 or C40's by then.

And how much non-ethanol 93 octane would cost in 300 years. :scotty:

Quick slip through a worm hole and load up on fuel. Just don't know how they'd pay for it. Maybe the seller would take some dilithium crystals.

And how the kid even knows about the Beastie Boys.

Still, a cool movie and the scene gets the point across.

I did the same thing in a former C4 with the Targa top. I was working on the car all winter and had the top just resting in place. Went for a quick burn up the street the first clear day of spring. Forgot the top was not screwed down and got to about 30mph and woosh - the top was just gone! I stopped and waited a second and remember thinking "no crash - maybe it landed in the grass" then suddenly a bang as loud a shotgun. The thing must have landed perfectly to make the sound it did. people all over the block were out in front of their houses to see what the noise was.

Didn't you ever see the episode of Futurama where they had the Beastie Boys heads preserved in the jars...the line was funny, something about the Beastie Boys have been around 100 years...now we have 6 albums!
