I'd like to get some chrome ZR 1 wheels for my 94.

Stock rims are 9.5" wide rear and 8.5" wide front but the ZR 1 wheels I see for sale seem to just come in 9.5" wide. Can I put 9.5" on the front? If it's okay does that extra inch end up on the inside or the outside? Will I need wider tires?

9.5s fit front just fine, but you will need 275/40 or 285/40 tires for the 9.5 rim.

CorvetteCentral has them in 8.5/9.5 sets. The 9.5 is fine in the front but may tend to make the car a bit darty on ruts in the road. The 92s were square with 9.5s and GM redesigned to 8.5/9.5. But it shouldn't be a big deal.

9.5s in the front tend to be a bit better for AutoX,etc.

I switched over to 9.5 all the way around for the street.

Feels a lot better, and I can rotate my tires.

I agree, that's what I had for years, but then got the bug to put 315s on the rear.

I think I may install some white powder-coated ZR-1 Wheels in the future.

This is my 93 with chrome ZR1 wheels. The wheels were on it when I bought it. The tires on now are stock size for the 93: 255/45ZR17 front and 285/40ZR17 rear. The wheels are 9.5" fronts and 11" rears, so you dont have to up size your tires to go with these wheels. I had 275s on front on 315s on the rear, but the car handles better with the stock size.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I don't want to sacrifice handling for good looks. My car's just a cruiser on the street. There's a vendor on Ebay called OE Wheels that has great prices but they don't have 8.5's so I'll likely go 9.5's all around. Next decision will be tires. Any recommendations? I'm told Sumitomo makes a good tire for a good price.

Okay I found an ebay vendor selling chrome zr1 wheels - 2 8.5 and 2 9.5 with tires mounted and balanced(same as stock size) for $1266. Are Nitto NT555 tires any good?

I went with 9.5 up front and 10.5 in the back on mine. I like the wider look in the back.

Best tire for the $$ is the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval. That's what I run and if I'm not mistaken, that what's on Curtis' car above.

Hey, I just thought. What about wheel nuts? Will my originals work with the ZR1's or do I need new ones?

They will work just fine, and the Nitto is a good tire. It looks like you got a decent deal.

Yep, that's what I got. Aggressive look and handle very well.
