For all we know the kid coulda been AlQueda or Taliban and the rocks could have been mini dirty bombs. We can't assume just because it happened on the Mexican Border the kid was Mexican. That would be profiling.

Looks like the kid's dad has more sense than most of the people dishing out opinions:

They have the proof," Jose Hernandez said at the wake, where the youth's body lay in a white coffin, dressed in a blue soccer outfit. "With the technology they use to detect people (crossing), they can see who is guilty." I'm gonna take a wild guess that the border patrol agents just don't cruise down to the border because they're bored and want some target practice on kids playing by the river. |

The U.S.-Mexico border is 1,969 miles long... so that'd take about 8,000 agents to do.
The border patrol employs 56,000 people, about 18,000 of which patrol the mexican border. You could put 1 in each guntower for 10 hour shifts. They can pick up their bullets on the way to work. |
