As engineered by Gordon Killebrew and marketed by Jason Francis of www.vette2vette.com
If I understand correctly, Jeff is going to set up a group purchase on these for Guru members. Not sure what the price will be yet. Andy, I am going to install a set on my 91 coupe and take pics of the process so you can set up a tech tip. I will shoot in RAW and e-mail them to you. It was great to meet Jeff and Matthew at the Bloomington Gold show! Front brackets on the left and rear on the right. They are coated with POR 15. I was showing these to VetteTech81 at a BBQ later that night and he suggested that these be sprayed with clear coat as the POR 15 has had a tendency to turn brown with age. Here you can see the Heim joints. After the rods are installed you put a wrench on the welded-on nut and crank them tight. This is what you get along with a set of bolts to bolt up the brackets. Following are pics of Jeff's ZR1 with the prototype kit installed. He told me he was going to adjust them some more yet to get the frame even stiffer. Thanks to Mid America for letting us use their exhaust install lift during what was a very busy show for them. Some of the pics are not the best as the contrast from the very bright sun and the shade under the lift kind of overwhelmed the camera's electronics at times. I will add the rest of the pics in a bit. |

thanks
That's interesting definitely won't interfere with the exhaust kinda looks like you could run both it and a convertible brace. |

From seeing these in person, they look like a well crafted piece.

I'm interested to see how well they work.. the GP price I saw was pretty pricey... As per POR-15's website: "POR-15® is sensitive to UV light (sun) and must be topcoated for prolonged exposure to sunlight. Topcoating is not required for areas not exposed to sunlight. " probably not a big issue being under the car though.. POR-15 is a great product, it's very tough and durable... -=Rick |

The C4 frame is pretty hefty through the area where these tension rods are located.

I just got an e-mail answer from Andy Bolig who is the editor for Corvette Enthusiast Magazine. He had talked with Gordon Killebrew recently about these braces and wants me to submit an article about the install.

Just a thought, instead of painting them with POR-15 could they be powdercoated?

I thought these WERE Powder coated. I will have to double check with Jason..
GP details here: http://www.vettextc.net/MY_ZR-1/Frame_Brace_GP.html I will add some of Ron's better pictures to the page I tightened them up on Sunday. Passenger needs a bit more, but I can see an improvement with the adjusting. This car is solid with top on now, and getting there with top off. |
