Is anyone running a mechanical temp gauge? How did you run it into the the car. The only mounting location I have is in the drivers side head. I will have to remove a Pipe plug to install it, but I still haven't figured out where to bring it into the car. My goal is to put it in a pillar mount.

Well, I'll ask why mechanical? But it's your car, mod anyway you want to.
If it was me, I'd put a new hole in the firewall and definately use a grommet. Wouldn't want that particular line to rub thru and spew hot water in to the cab. We use braided stainless steel lines for those on the racecars. I have a new AutoMeter liquid filled gage I'd sell but it's the larger one, 2 1/4, so, wouldn't work well on the pillar. |

Also, what's the purpose? Don't trust the dash?
I have several other choices for gauges that I would put in first, including fuel pressure, trans temp, wideband O2, etc. Matthew |

If it's mechanical FP, damn well better have a gage isolator in the firewall. |

I wouldn't put in a mechanical FP gauge, only electric. They are around $100 for a stewart...I've been looking. |

I am going with a mechanical only because thats what I have. I had it sitting around the garage, and I really didnt want to spend the money for an electric. I know its only fifty bucks, just didnt want to spend it there. The reason Im not using the factory gauge is it no longer works. It just reads low along with my oil pressure gauge. Although the oil gauge reads 80-90 the last few days, historically it has just read low.I have replaced both sensors and it has not corrected the issue which led me to believe the gauges where bad at the panel

If you replaced the sensors already, I would suspect a wiring issue, not a dash issue.

That is a fuel pressure gauge. The gauge I am adding is an autometer. Okay just in case I decide to drop the fifty bucks for a new gauge I still need to add a sensor to the head to hook the gauge too. Do I just use a regular temp gauge sensor and run a single wire to it. The only other temp sensor I have is mounted to the manifold and I wasnt going to tap into it since it goes to the computer.

Yes, just wire up the Autometer's normally, right no taping in. |
