That's, uh, an hour of labor then a 12 pack, right? Else we may have found root cause... Have you got a way to scan the PCM? Would be helpful to see what the PCM thinks is going on. The opti being off doesn't jive with Quote:

You can pull up the codes on the dash. I cannot remember which two to jump on the ALDL. My car has been acting funny with no codes (lights), and it had a MAP sensor code (34) stored. |

You need a laptop, a cable and the free trial of Datamaster. cable: http://www.obd2allinone.com/sc/details.asp?item=aldlobd1u (or similar) [edit: changed link to <=93 cable] datamaster: http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DataMaster_downloads2.html |

You can pull the codes from the dash. Put a jumper between pins A and G. Turn the ignition on, and it will go through its scan. If there are no codes you will get a C12 after the 1., and nothing after the 4. or 9. http://www.corvettebuyers.com/c4vettes/ecm.htm |

Tyler, I agree he should check the codes but there's a big difference with the info on a datamaster scan. The datamaster shows the parameters on the engine. |

I was looking at the money. I know its not much, but if the car is running this bad there should be a code. |

We heard you the first time. He clearly already knows how to get codes, since he's posted them, and I clearly wasn't referring to pulling codes... |

Guys post fairly often about a problem like this; other Forums are loaded with such exchanges.
Some continue to believe the Opti can ONLY go on ONE WAY, but you'd be surprised at just how many choose the WRONG location and install it wrong. Right up until the time the guys realize they selected the wrong pin location that post that they're ABSOLUTELY SURE they installed in correctly. Shoebox's, GrumpyVette's websites (and probably others) show exactly where the pin goes. I've got the photo saved if you need me to track it down and post it here. In the meantime I suggest you go back over all your work before putting the problem off to a BAD new Opti. What I mean is EVERYTHING AND PAYING EXTREME ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Hope this helps. Jake |

So true Jake. The opti in this post is not pin drive though, it's spline drive. You can get it in wrong but you'd have to muscle it in using the bolts, yea some guys would try to. The splines will go in only one way with the opti sliding up against the block easily. |
