Reading in this months Motor Trend they are reporting that the new design for the C7 has been completed after a two design in house competition. Like the C6 that evolved from the C5 this 2013 or 14 car will be an evolutionary update of the C6. They call it a C6.5.

They are having problems with figuring how to have cylinder deactivation in the V8 when the tranny is rear mounted. They say they need to do that to meet the post 2016 fuel economy standards.

I also heard that they are going to use a 5.5 liter direct inject engine which I think is what the GT2 C6.R racing Vettes are using this year. Interesting stuff. Hope the interiors are going to have more options.

I just hope they don't "Transformer" it up the way they screwed up the front & rear of the Camaro.

I didn't like the transformer Vette much either. Can't remember what they called it. I also didn't like the movies that much.

That's pretty much what the new issue of "Vette" says, plus there may be a factory optional high end cabin treatment. No more LS engine family.
I hope sales numbers pick up. Only 12,194 Corvettes were built in 2010, including a dismal 518 Z06's. I'd like a used C6 Z06 someday maybe and at that rate they will be scarce.

Dismal economy and a questionable recovery will keep production numbers low. Nobody is making any good commissions to buy those sweet new sportscars.

As I understand it, the next engine is still LSx based. Much like the truck has cylinder deactivation, it will be used on that size.

The trick will be harnessing the vibrations.

Another engine plan I have heard mention of is a 4.8 ltr, but with twin turbo's. All the power, all the MPG. clever, eh?

True That! I have been thinking the same thing. I did see a really nice 07 ZO6 with 8K on it for 44K. I don't think thats out of line. Black with the red and black interior and custom wheels. Looked badass! That's from memory so don't quote me.

The used prices are seriously low... I am glad I don't depend on Corvette sales to make a living!

Unless you are selling 63 to 67's. Those prices are not backing off much. They want 25K for cars that need a complete restoration. Of course maybe they aren't selling either. I'm going to Mecums auction in KC this winter that will tell a lot I'm thinking.

They call it the C6.5, some C5 owners call the C6 the C5.5. I wonder how the C5 owners will call the C7...

The C5.5A?
