Hey everyone,
I'm new to the forum and really need some help. My 92 headlights when turned to off retract properly but seem to pulse like they are not fully up or down. Is there a limit switch that needs adjusting ? i have to disconnect because it drains battery. |

Sounds like bad headlight bushings.

Inside the electric motor assembly is a gear box. That gear box has these cute little delrin bushings. Over time, the delrin gets beat to death and turn to powder.
These need to be replaced. The parts are about $10, the labour, tho, is annoying. |

I recently replaced my headlight bushing with Home Depot nylon bushings. They are located in the Hardware section in the drawers with specialty bolts/bushings. For less than $2 you can get enough bushings (6) to do both sides.
It was easier for me to remove the entire headlight assembly to do the repair. Crown Bolt brand 27/64 long 29/64 OD SKU # 3069987278 |

Pretty much, yes. These bushings are in them selves something of a limiter.
You can get them from Ecklers. You should get a Helm Factory Service manual for it, www.helminc.com or eBay. I just unassed the $37.00 to find out how good it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1992-C ... ature&hash=item56433d5cd2 That is a CD with the manual on it... if this works out, I will be buying these for my library and not books! I see another advantage - not having to scan pages to share info. And no lost pages. |

You won't find the bushings at HD! If you do, let me know.
Again, check Ecklers, they are not expensive and they include instructions. This will help: http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_090 ... lamp_motors/photo_01.html |

They are the same bushings that Ford used in their power windows for years, every auto parts store should have them.

Bogus, first picture is from your article. Second pic is the Home Depot bushings. They are a bit different, but for ~25 cents/each you can't beat the price and they have a pretty good track record.

One of my headlight motors still had the bushings intact, and they looked almost exactly like the ones you are refering to. They were about $9 per side. |

I never considered looking for alternatives to the bushings. This is one of those things I do once... and if the new ones are that great, that's it!
Good shopping! |

Bogus, I can't take credit for the HD bushings. Read about them on another thread.
