This post is actually for a friend of a friend. I told him to sign up, but I don't think he made it yet.
According to my buddy the car is a 1996 LT4 6 speed with 37,000 original miles. No known mechanical issues, claims no codes. His complaint is when he intentionally fishtails around a corner, the car loses power. He said it only happens when he stabs the throttle from midway, it doesn't happen if he goes no throttle to full throttle. My first thought was ASR, but he says it's turned off during this. Also said happens when gas tank is full or partially full. Without having the car in front of me, I can't give any better details. I'd like to drive it and see. I was leaning towards this being computer related, but I don't know. Does the ASR/ABS have additional anti-skid function with ASR turned off? Any thoughts? Matthew |

No. I never drive mine with the ASR on and nothing happens when you drift it a bit. You'll have to drive it or get a better discription. Does it just loose a bit of power or does it shut off completely, etc. |

Yeah he wasn't too descriptive. I tried to get more info but couldn't at the time. I think this is a hands on project, to be honest with you. I was just wondering if there was something that would jump out other than basic troubleshooting. I told him more than likely the car needs a tune up.

Fuel delivery is my first guess, but I am wondering if the driver is fully aware of how is foot is behaving at the subconscious level mid corner.
I had a strange problem with my 92 dying on a hard left. It stopped almost as fast as it started. Very odd. |

Use a good flashlight & look in the tank for trash. If found, clean the tank, install new sender & PUMP and change the fuel filter.
