hello all, the directioal stalk in my '93 broke the other day. It appears the stalk in the correct orange lettering is no longer available. As it seems to purchase new i'm looking at white lettering does anyone know if this is a common directional stalk found in any GM vehicle from that period or, do I need to buy one specific for the later C4 Corvette?

thanks,

I know that one from a Camaro will work. I would believe that one from a Blazer or truck should work too.

Andy after further research I believe the multi-function switch is exactly what is broken.

Does anyone have the GM number for this? I've searched all the popular corvette parts sellers but cannot find one on their sites.

I have found the "turn signal switch", the large white plastic switch inside the column but I do not believe this is actually the multi-funcion switch. The multi-function switch is what activates the directional switch correct?

Thanks Andy for your help,

I think I found it:

http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corvet ... mer-switch-1990-1993.html

Could someone please confirm this is the "multi-switch"?

Thanks again,

Yea, Brian, that is the one the stalk goes into per the exploded drawing in the FSM (3F5B-2).

Controls wipers, cruise, etc. The turn signal switch is further up in the column.

Note: pull the airbag fuse before working on it.

You will need to remove the airbag, wheel, clock spring...

I have done this, and it is much easier if the column is on a bench.

Remove the wheel and airbag. Then, remove the column from the car and finish the project on the bench.

I would also replace the tilt wheel pivot pins and springs.

Thanks Guys - I've gone one coming.

Thanks for the tip's. I've spent time in many a GM column so,
I'm pretty familiar with them. Specifically the C4's.

Strange of all the C4's I've owned I've had more than a few with the steering column wobble I've fixed but, never had a multi-switch break. Seems it's a pretty common problem on the C4.

And I don't know why... it's the same switch used in many other GM vehicles...

What breaks is this metal ridge that acts on the turn signal cancellation cam.

Yeah Andy that is a good question. I've owned many GM trucks from the late 80's to mid 90's, several with more than 200,000 miles and never once had a problem. I would bet it's the same column internals.

Glad I could help, this forum introduced me to Jason and a pretty good percentage of the parts in my 'Vette came from him!
