So, since I never do normal shit.

The rear end on the C2 has light to medimum rust. I really don't want to glass bead it cause that finish is quite a bit different from "as cast".

Last month I spent a wopping $14 on a hand held sandblaster from HF to do a crossmember that wouldn't fit in the glass bead cabinet.

I've been thinkin about adding a soda blast bin to the cabinet.

So, today I decided WTF and dumped half a box of Arm & Hammer in the HF blaster.
It worked! It took light rust off a small part and didn't leave the rougher surface like the glass does.

Guess I'll go to HF and buy 50 lbs of soda this week.

If it works that well with soda I wonder how it would do with beer.

Yep, we were walnut blasting C2 bodies in the '70s.

I've been playing with different methods to use on C2 steel castings to keep them looking origional. Glass beading doesn't leave the right finish.

So, since the little box of baking soda in the fridge wasn't enough, I went to HF and got a 50 lb. bag, thought it would be some special stuff, probably from China but the bag says Arm & Hammer.
Went thru 3 coffee cans full so I have plenty left to try on other parts.......or make 10,000 cupcakes.

Truck's gotta a lot o miles but that 5.3 runs like brand new.

No, the diff is "as cast" . I still have a bunch of hours to put into it. The finish will be Eastwwood's oil finish which is impossible to see but protects or maybe a satin clear.

There's a bunch of deep rust to work on than reblast.
Still have to check the posi breakaway, pull the driveshaft flange and install new seals plus do a gear pattern check.

The soda won't do heavy rust but I do want to play with it on plastic parts like interior trim.
