WOOOHOOO! The new Canton oil pan is installed and no more oil pressure drop!! At WOT, right off idle, pressure is 60 and creeps up to 75 at redline. One question, where is "full" with a Canton 7 qt race pan?

The only problem was reinstalling the starter. With the new pan, I couldn't get the starter in, so I had to work it over the header collectors, after removing the O2 censor. Everything else is bolt on, if you take your time.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Now I'm ready for summer!

Maybe it's too simple, but why not just add 7 quarts? Will should chime in.

I knew someone would say that!

I put 7 qts in and the oil shows just below add on the dipstick. I have read that it should be 1/2 way between add and full. Right now, it has 7.5 qts (7 in pan and ~1/2 in the filter). So should 8 or 8.5 go in? I just want to be sure...

Thanks!

Is that with Canton's dipstick or the stock GM? Is there a chance they are different?

The factory dipstick will read low with a Canton and many aftermarket pans because the aftermarket pans run the oil level lower in the sump to get it further away from the rotating assy.

Just make a note of where it reads with 7qts.

Glad it's fixed!
