I took a different route home tonight; the Market-Frankfort El(evated), which goes right past/over the original WFIL American Bandstand studio. It's a business incubator now, completely repurposed, but they don't deny the history: the last time I was there they still had one of the original Rate-A-Record props. |

Yeah heard that on XM today.....Bandstand was part of the background theme music of my life....50's and 60's especially....RIP.

Wow... Dick Clark... like Don Cornelous, a voice of a generation. Hell, the voice of GENERATIONS.
I suspect most of us grew up watching Bandstand, and being from Delaware, it's Philly roots were major important. A good run he had. A run we will always remember. |

How ccol is it to live your life doing what you love, meeting famous people, making people famous, all while making money at it? There are a lucky few of those that do. Getting to make it to 82 doing it is just a bonus. |
