I remember a while back a while there was a thread on parts going bad and I am in the market for a new fuel pump for the 87. I know some make noise and some have warrenty and others don't. I also know that the fuel presure is controlled else where by a fuel pressure Module.
What is the best bang for the bucks. I don't want to replace one every two years. I don't mind spending more for quality and longer life products. Who can you trust on ebay vs autoparts stores? I would imagian there are some fony china made replica parts out there. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/part ... tifier=708561_90318_9312_ http://www.autozone.com/autozone/part ... 4ECFFC4924.diyprod1-b2c11 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=8 ... =87+vett+fuel+pump&_rdc=1 |

I searched but cant find my tuner that sold me my fuel pump but it was a GXXX and a walbro IIRC and has been fine for 3+ years. No issues at all.
Believe it was a 340 model and blew a fuse. Fixed that issue. |

The 340 lph is the unit I have but like Ultraman posted go through Racetronix and ask if you need to upgrade the wiring as 85 may be different from your year.
Racetronix are awesome with great customer service |

Hell of a deal. With parts I would have to order seperatly. As for the wireing "In-tank Wiring - Racetronix Exclusive! In-tank wiring is quickly becoming a major problem due to the age of the C4's. Many terminals are heavily corroded or rusting off. The generic in-tank wiring adapters supplied with other installation kits rely on the questionable factory wiring and adds another connection to the equation. This translates to more resistance / voltage loss and an extra potential failure point. Racetronix in-house harness manufacturing facility has produced a one-piece replacement for the in-tank pump wiring. Racetronix replacement in-tank wiring plugs directly into the new pump and into the factory bulkhead connector thereby eliminating all the factory pump wiring and the need for in-line plug adapters. The Racetronix harness is made with heavier 14 gauge Teflon wire vs. the factory's 16 gauge wire. Teflon is the most resistant to gas and solvents. All connections are assembled using our computerized crimp-quality monitoring system and then circuit checked for the utmost in reliability. There are no wires to cut, crimp or splice. All connections are Plug & Play. " Thanks |

Thanks, just saw this post. I was going to recommend racetronix. Their pump kit was cheaper than getting a GM setup, too. Matthew |

The pump showed up Monday and now that the zirk is fixed I hope to change this out and install the door weather strips.
Thanks Marcus for the tip on the pump. Great price quick delivery http://www.racetronix.biz/customkititems.asp?kc=FPA%2D011&eq= didn't realize the Walbro gss242m is equivalent to the Holley p/n gss344m Hope to have that done over the 3 day weekend. Would rather go to the beach. |

Racetronix has good parts but getting a bigger fuel pump wont help give you performance. If nothing else, get it for the quality workmanship/customer service. Might be helpful in the future if you do a bigger motor. Save time/money.

Car started running like fule starved the last few days. Ran bad on the way home. Just finished installing the pump. Lol what a difference in performance. For two years that I had this car I didn't know it would change for the best again. Marcus and all that recomended this pump Thanks. In one of the pictures you will see the filter black as hell and falling apart. You will see the wire adapter for this pump it is I think telphon coated or something to make it last longer in the exposure to fule. Ths SS bolts were a nice change and the gasket and all were perfect. |
