Well, I'm doing bolts on the 67.

Tomorrow I should have my black oxide kit.
www.caswellplating.com
They don't have parkerizing but do have sone neat new brush on plating kits ($25-$45) for nickel, gold, etc.

I may get some parkerizing stuff from http://www.shootersolutions.com/parkerizing.html
They have a good rep.

Black oxide is a cold process, parkerizing takes heat using a prophane camping stove or a crock pot, takes longer. Probably a little more scratch resistant.

There's a boatload on the web including youtube vids.

50th anniversary of the 700. Is that a noise suppressor?
I know they make sense in today's world for hunting and target shooting. May even be legal in some states or is it a federal law?

Yes that is a supressor. It's mfgr'd by Yankee Hill Machine (YHM).

Both.

Suppressors are regulated by the Federal Govt under the National Firearms Act (NFA). They are registered devices and the registration is maintained in the NFA database by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF). You pay a tax of $200 to get whats referred to as a "stamp". Then you fill out whats commonly referred to as the "Form 4". You wait about 5-8 months for approval to come back and after all that you can go, pay for and pick up your suppressor from the dealer.

Keep in mind the above is the very short and sweet version... there are all manner of things like Trust or Personal ownership issues for NFA items and the requirements for both are slightly different.

Some states place additional restrictions and some states outright prohibit ownership of NFA items by citizens.

It's just the stock Rem-700 Light Tactical Barrel and I use 1050 FPS Subsonic loads in .308. The .3078 caliber is new to me so I am excited to shoot it this weekend. I have 7.62x39 AK & Colt LE6920 and Spikes 5.56 AR's and some .22's but this is my first .308

I opened up a NFA Trust last week, so all future cans and the SBR I am building will go into the Trust.

The Stamp took 7 months from the day I mailed it to the day I got it back.

Thats great. IMO a Trust is the smartest thing you'll ever do in reguard to NFA items.

What are your SBR plans?? Do Tell More....

Is that 1.10 or 1.12 twist barrel?
I'd like to heard about the accuracy/consistency with 1050fps
You think it'll hold a 1" group at 100 yards?

Nice plan for the SBR...

I would have done it with the GLOCK mag lower that they offer, but thats just because G18 mags are so cheap and plentiful compared to the COLT SMG style.

Your not going beyond 200 yards with that load.

So LD85, how'd it group? Distance?
Sounds like a .22
