The AACA's annual fall show in Hershey, PA has many things to recommend it, but my wife's and my favorite portion is watching the show cars drive (no trailers are permitted for almost all classes) onto the show field early Saturday morning.

The following are about 50 pictures, taken under fairly brutal early morning lighting conditions.

Thanks - AACA rules are that anything that's unmodified and past 25 years is game. I saw a Ford Escort, an early 1980s Malibu, and a Mustang II Ghia. On the other hand I saw an absolutely stunning Deusenberg and a 1950s Packard dream car.

Awesome show!

I see no problems with the pictures. The lighting seems to make the colours really pop...

You aren't seeing all the badly blurred ones - both I and the D90 had issues with the cold and the lens I was using also had issues with the light.

You are correct that when everything was working the colors were really good.

Just the D90 kit lens (18-105 AF-S VR) shooting at ISO 200 equivalent - I haven't even looked at a better telephoto, though I did spend some money on a 50mm prime. Maybe next year I'll see if the prime works better ...

Find yourself a (nominal) 28-80 (18-75?) f2.8.

You will thank yourself. I have the Tamron 28-80. The light that lens lets in is huge.
